Chapter 93 – Tea Time in the Countryside

(A month later.)

"Hey, what are you doing? I'm filling the baskets, and you're eating all the berries," Alex said to Emily, who was sitting near the basket and eating berries like a kid.

"The berries you plucked are so sweet. I'm only eating a few, not all," Emily said, smiling and offering a berry to Alex.

Alex shook his head at Emily's cuteness and then took the berry from her. "You sometimes act like a kid, but you are cute," he said, eating the berry and continuing to pluck more.

"They are so sweet. I can eat them all," Emily said, looking at the basket full of berries.

Alex looked down at Emily and said, "If you eat too many, you will get fat."

"If I get fat, you won't like me?" Emily asked.

Alex smiled and crouched down in front of Emily. He cupped her cheeks and said, "No, but if you become chubby, you will become even more cute. Then how would I be able to resist my baby?" Alex pinched Emily's cheeks and then placed a kiss on her lips.

Emily laughed and hugged Alex. "You are the best. I love you so much."

"I love you too. But now let's start working, or Mom and Dad will get angry at us," Alex said, getting up from the ground before again starting to pluck the berries.

Emily also stood up and started working.

After three hours, when they finally finished, Alex and Emily came back to the house with the baskets full of berries. Instead of showing any sign of tiredness, they were smiling, laughing, and teasing each other.

Alex put the baskets near the door and said out loud, "Mom, I'm putting the baskets here," and then he headed to his room to take a bath.

Emily also put her baskets next to Alex's and ran behind Alex. "Alexy, stop!" she yelled, running behind him. "You can't leave me. Let's take a bath together." Emily giggled.

"Okay," Alex smiled, picking Emily up on his shoulder before opening the door of their room and entering inside. He closed the door behind him and headed towards the bathroom with Emily on his shoulder.

They were so lost in each other's company that when they entered the house, they didn't notice that two guests were waiting for them in the living room with Emily's mom and dad. They were sitting there, watching everything.

They were Sarah and John, who came to see their son, but it seemed their son was too happy to even notice them.

"Is he always like this?" Sarah asked Ria, Emily's mom.

Ria smiled and nodded. "Yeah, these kids are always like this, and seeing them so happy makes me happy too. It makes me remember the days when Fred and I were young and used to go to pluck the berries," she said, looking at Freddy, who was sitting next to her, reading the newspaper.

Freddy looked up from the newspaper and nodded. There was a little blush on his cheeks when he remembered the old times, but he didn't show it and hid his face behind the newspaper again.

"Let's drink tea in the garden. Until then, Alex and Emily will come too," Freddy said after a while, getting up from the chair.

"You two go with Fred. I'll come with the tea," Ria said, getting up from the chair to go into the kitchen to prepare the tea.

"Okay," John said and got up, but Sarah wasn't ready to go with them. "Let me help you in the kitchen." Sarah said to Ria.

Ria nodded and took Sarah with her to the kitchen.

The kitchen was small but beautiful. Everything was organized perfectly. There was also a window from which the mountains and fields could be seen clearly. There was a chair and table near the window to sit on and have a cup of tea while looking at the outstanding view through the window. Sarah looked around the kitchen and loved everything there. Although it wasn't as big as the kitchen in Sarah's house, it was cozy and gave the feeling that you could sit there forever and admire the life of the countryside.

"You don't like it?" Ria asked, seeing Sarah lost in her thoughts.

"Ah, no. It's not like that. It's so beautiful. Everything here and in your house is so beautiful." Sarah smiled.

Ria was happy to hear that. "You can sit on the chair. I make the tea." Ria said to Sarah, and she started preparing the tea.

Sarah took a seat near the window and looked outside. "Now I know why Alex liked it here so much," Sarah said to herself.

"Did you say something? Sorry, I didn't hear you." Ria turned around after adding the sugar, tea, and tea spices to the boiling water.

Sarah turned her head to Ria and said, "It's so beautiful here. And he has the girl he loves the most. If I say it precisely, then he has everything he needs in his life, so that's why he forgot about his mom and dad."

"It's not like that," Ria said, coming to Sarah. "He loves you and his father a lot. When we sit together at night in the living room to watch TV or just talk, he talks a lot about both of you. He tells us about his childhood memories with you and Mr. John. He always looks happy when he speaks about old times. Of course he hasn't forgotten you two," Ria said before turning around and going back to her tea.

She added the milk to the boiling tea and then waited for a minute before turning off the gas. She tasted the tea, and then she added half a teaspoon of sugar to the tea before stirring it with a spoon.

"It's done." Ria said and poured tea into cups before putting them on a tray.

"Let's go." She said to Sarah, and Sarah got up from the chair.

They both walked out of the kitchen and came outside into the garden. There were four chairs around a table, and the view of the field and mountains was breath-taking. When Sarah looked at the view through the window, she felt like it was the most beautiful thing she had seen in a long time, but coming out into the garden changed her thoughts entirely.

"Why is everything so beautiful here?" Sarah muttered to herself and walked with Ria towards John and Freddy, who were sitting at the table talking to each other.

Ria put the cups on the table and took a chair, while Sarah also sat down on one of the chairs.

All of them started talking and enjoyed the tea.

"I never drank tea before, but now that I'm drinking it, I wonder why I didn't try it before," Sarah said after taking a sip of the tea. "It's really good," she took another sip of it.

"I'm glad that you liked it." Ria smiled.

"Yeah. It's really good. I have asked Sarah many times before to make tea for me, but she never fulfilled my simple request." John looked at Sarah with a sad face.

"Are you complaining about me?" Sarah raised an eyebrow at John.

"Of course not. I'm just telling the truth." He smiled.

Sarah shook her head and smiled back,” I will try, but I don't know how to make tea." Sarah said, taking another sip of the tea.

"But maybe you can teach me." Sarah looked at Ria, and Ria nodded.

"Of course. I would love too." Ria smiled.
