Chapter 92 – Bonds Tested

"You really love him, huh?" Sarah asked Emily as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Yes," Emily replied Immediately.

"Mom, that's enough." Alex said, walking to Emily and standing next to her. "I think she has said enough." Alex wrapped his arm around Emily's shoulder and smiled at her. He never heard Emily talk like that about him. Yeah, she told him many times that she loved him, but she never expressed her feelings in front of others. Alex was so happy to hear all that from Emily today.

Alex turned his attention to his mom and said, "I don't care if you like her or not, if you trust her or not; I like her and I trust her; that's all that matters to me. I know you are worried about me, but please, this time, listen to us; we really love each other."

"Okay." Sarah nodded, and then she quickly went to her room before coming back with a piece of white paper and a pen.

"What is this now?" Alex asked, looking at the paper in Sarah's hand.

John, who had still been sitting at the dining table, watching everything, got up from the chair and walked to them.

He also looked at the pen and paper, wondering what Sarah was going to do with them.

"Sign here," Sarah said to Alex, tapping on the white paper.

"Why would I sign a blank piece of paper?" Alex asked Sarah, confused.

"Why? Don't you trust your mother?" Sarah smiled.

Alex sighed and grabbed the pen and paper from Sarah before signing it.

"Now on this paper," Sarah said, waving the paper in front of Emily, "where Alex has signed, I can write anything. I can even take all of Alex's property, all his money, and everything he owns. He won't even own a penny. So," she paused for a second, "do you still like him?"

Emily was going to say something, but Sarah again spoke up, "And this isn't a joke. I can really do it. I can do it to prove to Alex that you aren't right for him." Sarah looked at Alex.

Emily smiled and hugged Alex's arm as she said, "I don't mind if Alex doesn't have a problem with it." She looked up at Alex and smiled.

"My parents have a blueberry farm. Want to go there and live a countryside life with me? I always wanted to spend lots of time with my mom and dad and live a peaceful country life. Maybe now we can complete my dream?" Emily gave Alex's arm a squeeze. "You would look great in a wide-brimmed hat. How fun it would be to work in the field and pluck the berries! How exciting it would be." Emily's smile widens as she imagines doing all that.

"If you like it, I would love it." Alex smiled back at Emily.

Seeing Emily so happy, Sarah was surprised. She didn't expect this reaction from her, but she still had her doubts. She wasn't going to believe Emily so easily. She knew Alex liked her, and she was being a villain in everyone's eyes, but she wanted the best for Alex. Last time, too, she wanted Alex to have a happy life with Natasha, but she didn't know that Natasha had ulterior motives. So, this time, she wanted to be careful.

"Alright, you two can go now. From this moment on, everything Alexander Hart owned is mine. You own nothing from now on," Sarah said, looking at Alex.

"What are you saying? Have you lost your mind?" John yelled. "You always keep doing what you like to do. You don't even care about others' feelings. But I won't let it happen again. You can't do this." John tried to grab the paper, but Sarah took it away from him.

"Don't you dare do it. If you love me, don't do it. I know what I'm doing," Sarah said, gesturing for Emily and Alex to go.

Emily looked at Alex and said, "You worked hard for the company and everything. If you want to, you can still own it." Emily let go of Alex's arm and took a step back from him. "But my love for you will never change. I will always love you. Always." Emily smiled and turned around to go. She knew how much Alex loved his company and how hard he worked every day to reach this far. She loved him so much, but she couldn't take him away from what he loved and the people who loved him—his mom and dad.

"What the hell? Where are you going?" Alex suddenly grabbed Emily's hand and stopped her.

"Are you stupid? Of course, I worked hard to reach this far, and I care so much about my company, but not more than you."

Alex cupped Emily's face and continued, "You are more important than anything I have. I can't live without you." Alex smiled at Emily and grabbed her hand. "Let's go. I want to live with you."

Emily looked at Sarah and John before smiling and saying, "Thank you for giving your son to me." And she again turned her attention to Alex.

"Wait a minute." Emily released her hand from Alex and took a step towards Sarah.

She stood in front of Sarah once again and said, "But please, never push your son away from you because of me. Maybe once a month or so, we'll come here to visit you. I will also send you my parents' address so that you two can come there whenever you like. Alex loves both of you a lot. If you come to visit us, he will be happy." Emily smiled and greeted Sarah and John before turning back to Alex.

"Let's go now, honey." Emily happily grabbed Alex's hand as if he were really hers now and nobody could take him away from her.

Alex looked at his mom and dad once before turning around, and then they both walked out of the main door.

Sarah, who was still standing there, was staring at the door. Her heart was beating fast in her chest. For the first time in her life, she felt like Alex had been taken away from her. There had been times when Alex couldn't come to visit them due to work. Sometimes it took a week, and sometimes one or two months. But now, even though Emily said that they would come to visit them once a month and that they could go to see them too, she felt like she had lost her son for real. She felt like her son wasn't hers anymore.

"Are you happy now? You and your stupid plans." John grabbed the paper from Sarah and threw it on the floor. "Because of your stubbornness, your son went through so much. But when that girl is finally making him happy, you can't see it. Why are you like this? Why don't you want to see Alex happy?" John yelled, and, in a bad mood, he headed towards his room.

Sarah plopped on the step and started thinking about what just happened. She grabbed her head in her hands and started crying. She knew she had done something awful. But it was all for Alex. She just wanted the best for him.
