Chapter 86 – Surprises and Reunions
Alex looked in the direction where the voice came from and found Emily and Nelson standing a few steps away from them. Nelson was holding a bouquet of red roses and smiling, but Emily looked mad.
"Why are they here?" Natasha asked Alex, looking at Emily and Nelson.
"Do you forget that we met them at the restaurant the other day, and Emily even came to the hospital to visit mom? Right, mom?" Alex looked at Sarah, and Sarah nodded.
"Yeah, but why did you call them? You said you wanted to do the wedding only between family members. So, why are they here?" Sarah asked, confused.
"They are like my family, mom," Alex smiled, and, leaving Natasha, he walked in Emily and Nelson's direction.
As Alex reached them, he whispered, "What are you two doing here? I told you I would take care of everything."
Nelson grinned and whispered back, "She was worried that you would marry Natasha for real. So if it happens, she will create a scene and stop it from happening."
"You're quite enjoying this situation, huh?" Alex said, seeing Nelson's unwavering grin.
"Do you think so? Well, I am. But I forgot to bring popcorn. I'm sure a lot of drama would happen today." Nelson grinned.
"You have a death wish. Why are you saying that? Can't you pray that nothing bad happens and everyone finds out the reality of that girl?" Emily glared at Natasha.
"Alright, don't do anything. Just sit still. But If you feel like you need to do something, then do it, okay? Otherwise, sit quietly, alright?" Alex said, and Nelson and Emily nodded obediently.
"What are you guys whispering to each other?" Sarah said, getting up from the chair.
"Nothing, Mom. Actually, I have prepared something for Natasha, and these guys are helping me with it. I was just asking them if they've done all the preparations." Alex quickly made up an excuse.
"Yup. Everything is prepared perfectly," Nelson said, walking towards Natasha.
"Here, this is for you. Congratulations." Nelson smiled, giving the bouquet to Natasha.
Natasha forced a smile and took the bouquet. "Thank you very much," she said.
"By the way, why do all you guys look off? Is everything okay?" Nelson asked, looking at John, Sarah, and Natasha.
"Yes, everything is alright. We are just waiting for Father. He said he would arrive on time, but he isn't showing up," Sarah said, concerned.
"Oh, but have you called him? Actually, when we arrived, there was a lot of traffic. Maybe he got caught in it too," Nelson said.
"Yeah, it could be. Alex, why don't you call Father again?" John suggested.
Alex nodded and called Father, but again the call went unanswered.
"He's not picking up the call. Maybe he is coming," Alex said.
"Yeah. Let's wait for a while, or, I know, other Father, we will call him," John said, looking at his watch.
"I hope he comes soon," Sarah said, sitting down on the chair again.
Emily and Nelson also sat down two rows behind everyone else on the chairs, waiting for drama to unfold.
"You're looking so calm and collected. I was worried that as soon as you would come here, you would start yelling, telling everyone that Alex is yours," Nelson joked.
"Do you think I'm crazy?" Emily muttered.
"No, but in this situation, anyone can go crazy. But you are holding yourself perfectly. I'm proud of you." Nelson patted Emily's head.
"Do you think so? Check my heart." Emily grabbed Nelson's hand from her head and placed it on her heart. "It's beating so fast."
"Hey, what are you doing? Are you crazy? Do you want him to kill me?" Nelson tried to take his hand away from Emily, but Emily held it tightly against her heart. "He will get mad if he sees me doing this." Nelson was worried.
"What are you overreacting for? It’s not like I’m making you touch the wrong place. Your hand isn’t on my chest." Emily said nonchalantly.
"But still. He won’t be able to see it from there. It will cause a big problem." Sweat started forming on Nelson's forehead. He was there to enjoy a drama; he didn’t expect that he would be part of one.
"Then let it be. I want him to get jealous and make him tell everyone that the one he likes is me and the one he wants to marry is also me." Emily looked scary as she talked that way.
"Of course, it's you. But now, let go of my hand. I do lots of things with it daily, so spare my hand." Nelson again pulled his hand away. But no, Emily wasn’t going to let it go.
"No, let's wait until he sees us, and then you have to smile at me, and I will smile at you." Emily grinned.
Nelson sighed. "Why are you like this, Emily?"
"Like what?" Emily looked at Nelson.
"Hey, look, he is looking at us. Now let go of my hand," Nelson said, panicking as he suddenly saw Alex glaring at them.
Instead of looking at Alex and letting go of Nelson's hand, Emily smiled at Nelson and got closer to him.
"What are you two doing?" Alex's eyes were looking at where Nelson's hand was touching Emily.
"You guys flirting here? It's the church," Alex glared at Nelson as if Nelson had committed a crime.
"Yeah, I know, but you know how clingy she is." Nelson tried to laugh it off.
Sarah turned her head around and smiled at Emily and Nelson. "I wish Alex and Natasha were also like you two; you two look so cute together."
"Cute, huh?" Alex sent death glares at Nelson.
"Thank you very much." Emily smiled.
Alex clenched his fists. If his mom, dad, and Natasha weren’t there, he was going to take a good class of Emily and Nelson's.
"Sorry, I'm late." A voice interrupted everyone, and they all turned their heads back.
It was Father Michael they were all waiting for.
Sarah and John were happy to finally see Father there, but some people weren't. Emily, Alex, and Nelson’s faces were dropped. They weren't happy to see Father there.
Alex wanted Father to come after his special guest arrived. But anyway, what could he do about it now?
"You finally arrived. I thought we would have to call another Father." Sarah smiled.
"Actually, there was a lot of traffic today. I got out of the house early but got stuck in traffic," Father said, walking towards the groom.
"Let's start the wedding," Father said, smiling at Alex.
"Can we wait for a few minutes? Someone has to come yet." Alex said to Father.
"Alright, I'll prepare for the wedding until then," Father said with a smile before going to a room in the church.
"What are you doing? Who is coming now? You said you don't want anyone at your wedding; then why do people keep coming?" Sarah said, ignoring that Emily and Nelson were still there and could hear her clearly.
"Mom, those people are really important to me. Just wait for a while. You will be happy to meet them, too." Alex smiled.
"Who are they? Do I know them?" Sarah asked, wondering what Alex was up to. She was so happy that Alex was finally ready to marry Natasha, but seeing what he was doing, she wondered if he had some other plans.
"They are here." Alex smiled as he saw Uncle Wilson, Aunt Laura, and Leo entering the church.
Sarah and everyone else looked back to see who Alex was talking about.
"Oh my. Laura, Wilson, you are here?" Sarah couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw her old friends there. "When did you come from Australia?" She quickly walked to them and hugged Laura.
"We just arrived today." Laura smiled and hugged Sarah back. She was so happy to reunite with her old friend.
"But why have you never called me? And you didn’t pick up my calls either?" Sarah asked, retreating from Laura.
Laura smiled and answered. "Actually, I lost my phone. And your number was on that phone. Wilson also didn’t have your or John's number, so we couldn't call you." Laura once again hugged Sarah.
" Oh. And here I thought that you two had forgotten me." Sarah smiled.
"How is that possible?" Wilson said, smiling. He also took a step forward and hugged Sarah. He missed Sarah and John so much. They were like his family, who were always there for him in good and bad times.
"I missed you so much, brother." Sarah said as she hugged Wilson back.
"I missed you to all these years. Now I've decided that I'm going to live here for a month. I want to spend lots of time with you and John." Wilson said, looking at John, who was standing there, smiling.
John also took a step forward and gave Wilson a big hug.
"Long time no see, my old friend." John patted Wilson's back.
"How are you?" John took a step back from Wilson as he asked.
"Much better after seeing both of you." Wilson replied.
"But how did you two come suddenly? Natasha said, You couldn't come because of work, so how did it happen?" Sarah asked.
"We are here because of Alex. If he didn't tell us that he and Natasha are getting married, we wouldn’t be able to come here. Natasha never called us, so how would she be able to tell us that she was getting married?" Laura told Sarah.
" What? Natasha didn't tell you anything?" Sarah was confused.
