Chapter 85: Living a Normal Life

Alex was standing in front of the mirror, looking at himself in his wedding suit. Today, he looked particularly smart, with his hair combed back and a well-tailored white suit.

"Are you ready yet?" Sarah opened the door and entered the room.

"Oh my god. Look at you. You are looking so handsome today," Sarah said with a big smile as she looked up and down at Alex.

"I always waited for this day. I'm so happy that it finally came," Sarah said, gently touching Alex's cheek.

"Are you happy, mom?" Alex took Sarah's hand from his cheek and asked, taking it in his.

Sarah nodded. "I'm more than just happy."

"Then I am too," Alex said, hugging his mom.

"What are you two doing here? We will be late," John said as he entered the room. Today, he was happy. Though he did not like Natasha before, if Alex was ready to marry her, he didn’t have any problem either.

"Alright. Let's go, then," Sarah said, patting Alex's shoulder and smiling.

Alex nodded, and they all walked out of the room. As they came into the living room, they saw Natasha coming down the stairs. She was looking pretty in her wedding dress. Her hair was elegantly styled, and the veil added a touch of delicacy to her radiant beauty. But even though she was looking so pretty, it didn’t catch Alex’s attention. For him, there was only one pretty girl, and that was Emily.

"You are looking so beautiful, my dear," Sarah quickly walked to Natasha and said.

"Thanks, mom." Natasha smiled.

"Did you call your parents? They are coming for the wedding, right?" Sarah asked as she grabbed Natasha's hand and took her towards Alex and John.

Natasha bit her lip and shook her head. "I called them, but they said they wouldn't be able to come. They are busy with their work. But Mom said that they would come to visit us as soon as possible."

" What? This is so sad. I want to see Laura and Wilson so badly." Sarah looked sad. "But I wonder why they don’t pick up my call. Could it be that they are angry with me for some reason?" Sarah said.

Natasha shook her head and said, "It's not like that. They are just too busy. Once the Workload lessens, they will come here to visit us."

Sarah nodded. "I hope they come soon."

"Of course they will," Natasha said, giving Sarah a reassuring smile.

"Alright. Let’s go, or we will be late." John reminded them, and they all headed towards the main door.

Natasha, Sarah, John, and Alex were waiting for Father in the church. It has been half an hour since they came there, but Father hasn’t arrived yet. It was making Sarah worry.

"Why is Father late? He said he lives near the church, so why didn't he arrive yet?" Sarah said. She was calling Father, but he wasn't picking up the call.

"Don't worry, he will be here soon. You sit down," John said, making Sarah sit on the chair.

"But look around; the church feels so empty. It doesn’t give off the vibe of a wedding. I asked Alex to do the wedding in a five-star hotel, but he didn’t listen to me. How good it would be if all our relatives would be invited and have a grand wedding instead of doing it only with family members."

"But that would be a waste of money. I like this kind of simple wedding," Alex smiled.

"Just when did you become like this? You never cared about spending money before, so why are you doing this on your wedding?" Sarah questioned. She wasn’t pleased with Alex's answer.

Alex sat down next to Sarah and said, "See, mom, I realized that money is not everything. Being with your family and enjoying your life to the fullest is the real meaning of life. There is no use running behind on money or wasting all your days making money. I have decided that I'm going to live the life of a normal person."

"What do you mean by that?" John asked, all confused, and Sarah and Natasha were surprised. But Natasha wasn't only surprised; she was nervous too. She was worried that Alex was up to something again.

"Yeah, what are you saying? Tell it clearly," Natasha said, worried.

"He is just joking. Stop worrying, Nat." Sarah smiled at Natasha.

"No, mom. I'm not joking. I'm serious about it. And who said I didn't invite anyone to my wedding? The main guests are coming soon." Alex got up from the chair and took out his phone from his pocket before calling someone.

"Yes, where are you? I'm waiting for you, guys. Before the wedding, I want to do Something good." Alex smiled at the phone.

"Sorry, we are late. But don't worry, we will be there soon," the voice from the other end said.

"Alright then. I will wait. The wedding isn't complete without your blessings." Alex smiled, and he hung up the phone.

"Who were you talking to? Who is coming?" Sarah asked. Now she was worried too.

"Someone you all will be happy to meet," Alex smiled.

"Just what are you up to? What do you mean by living a normal life? And who are you calling here?" Natasha asked, worried.

Alex came to Natasha and placed his hands on her shoulders. He smiled at her and said, "You love me, right?"

Natasha was confused as to why he was saying that now. "Of course I do. But why are you asking this?"

"I am happy that you love me. So, you won't mind if I donate all my money to charity and live a normal life with you. We would both be so happy. I won't have to worry about work every day. I don't need to worry that I have to do this or that. I am even thinking that after marriage, we should move to the countryside. Our lives would be so joyful and happy," Alex said with a big smile, but Natasha wasn't happy at all to hear that.

"Why are you doing all this now? You worked so hard to bring A.H. Enterprises so far, so how can you let it go so easily? You know you are among the hundreds of wealthiest people in the world. How can you let go of all the money now?" Natasha was mad at Alex.

"Oh, I understand it now. You are saying all this, so I say that I don't want to marry you. But I won't. I love you so much that these things don’t matter to me." Natasha joined Alex's game. She wasn't ready to give up so soon.

"I love you too, Natasha," Alex said, cupping her cheeks. "But I'm not lying. I really meant it. Actually, I used to always run after money. I used to do all I could to make lots of money. But not anymore. I want to relax now. I want to live like a normal person who enjoys life instead of working like a machine."

"You really don't mean it, do you?" Natasha furrowed her eyebrows.

"I'm not lying. I know I should have told you already, but everything happened so fast that I didn't get the time to tell you," Alex said.

Natasha was silent for a moment, and then she started laughing.

"That's a good joke. But no matter what, I will marry you," she said, still laughing.

"I’m happy to hear it," Alex smiled.

"What's going on here?" Suddenly, Alex heard a familiar voice, and he took a step back from Natasha.
