Chapter 87 – The Special Guests Arrived
"Ha-ha, Mom, stop joking," Natasha said, walking towards Laura. "I know you're angry at me that I didn't tell you about Alex and me. Please don't get mad at me. This is my wedding." Natasha grabbed Laura’s hand in hers and looked at her as if requesting that she not spoil her wedding.
Laura pulled her hand away from Natasha and walked towards Alex, who was standing a few steps away. "How are you?" she asked, patting Alex's cheek. "Sorry, we couldn't meet the other day."
"That's alright. I'm happy that you came here." Alex smiled.
"Yeah. I hope everything goes well today." Laura smiled back.
"What are you two talking about secretly?" Sarah asked, walking towards Alex and Laura after chatting with Leo.
"Nothing much. I was only congratulating Alex for his wedding," Laura answered.
"You didn't congratulate your daughter, but you did, Alex. What happened to you? I know you must be angry with Natasha for not telling you anything, but let's forget everything that happened before. Let's start anew." Sarah smiled at Laura as she placed her hand on her shoulder.
Laura nodded. "Alright," she said, and then went to congratulate Natasha.
She hugged Natasha and whispered near her ear, "I always treated you as my real daughter. I loved you a lot, but the day you tried to kill my son, everything between us ended. And don't think you would be able to destroy another house now. It won't happen ever."
Natasha was afraid to hear that. She knew they were only there to cause trouble for her. The day Alex agreed to marry her, she had doubts that something wasn’t right, and now her doubts were coming true.
"Ha-ha. Thank you, mom." Natasha tried to act normal, trying to keep herself from panicking.
Laura smiled and took a step back from Natasha. Wilson also congratulated Natasha on her wedding, but as Leo came in front of Natasha, Natasha was more afraid than anything. She knew Leo hated her for trying to kill him, but she was thankful that Leo had worn a turtleneck t-shirt instead of showing his neck cut to everyone. If it happened, she would be destroyed.
Leo didn’t say anything to Natasha; he just nodded at her and walked past her before sitting on a chair.
Natasha took a sigh of relief that Leo hadn’t said anything.
"Should we start now? I have other matters to take care of too," Father said, and everybody turned their attention to him.
Sarah nodded and took Natasha on stage. Alex, too, walked there.
"You see," Nelson joked, nudging his elbow towards Emily, "He is going to marry her." They were both sitting there silently, watching all the drama. They were waiting for Alex or Natasha's parents to say something and the truth to come out, but nothing like that seemed to happen.
"I'm going to kill him if he does so," Emily said, furiously curling her hand into a fist.
"What are you saying? Of course, he won't marry her. He loves you," Nelson said, slowly taking candy out of his pocket and putting it in his mouth.
"What are you doing? On one side, you're worrying me by saying that he is going to marry; on the other hand, you are comforting me by saying that it won’t happen. What are you trying to do?" Emily glared at Nelson.
"I'm just telling you the possibilities." Nelson grinned and took another candy from his pocket before giving it to Emily. "Take it. It's tasty." Nelson smiled.
"I don't want it," Emily said, and she threw the candy away, which accidentally hit Leo's back head, who was sitting two rows ahead of them.
As the candy hit Leo's head, he turned his face around to see who had done it.
Emily just smiled a little and said sorry.
Leo smiled back and nodded. His face turned red.
"I think he fell for you." Nelson smiled at Emily.
"Stop saying nonsense. I am feeling so nervous here, and you are joking," Emily said, lightly slapping Nelson's leg.
" No. I'm serious."
"Just what kind of man falls in love by just being hit by a candy?" Emily asked.
" He." Nelson pointed at Leo with his eyes. Look, his ears are all red."
As Nelson said, only then did Emily notice a red blush on Leo’s ears. If she weren’t in the situation she was in, she would start laughing at that.
"I think he is cute," Emily said to herself.
" Aye. He is cute. Do you want me to tell it to Alex? He would love to hear it," Nelson said.
"Yup, do it. That way, he would leave Natasha's side and come running to me." Emily smiled.
"You are so possessive of him. He is yours. Nobody is going to steal him from you." Nelson told Emily.
"I know that very well." Emily grinned at Nelson.
"Alright, you two come here and stand in front of each other," Father said to Natasha and Alex.
Natasha and Alex did as they were asked to do. They both came on stage and stood in front of each other.
"Okay, then let's start," Father said with a smile.
"Ah, can we wait for a few more minutes? Actually-" before Alex could complete his line, Father spoke up.
"Someone still has to come? I thought I was the only one late here," Father laughed a bit.
" Yes." Alex nodded.
"Alright, we can wait, but only for ten minutes. Call them to come soon," Father said, and Alex nodded.
"What's going on? Who has to come now?" Emily muttered.
"I think real people still have to come," Nelson grinned.
"Do you know what he's trying to do?" Emily looked at Nelson.
"Maybe," Nelson smiled.
"What are you doing, Alex?" Sarah said, standing up from the chair. "Who needs to come? Who have you called? The time for the wedding is passing." She had enough. Alex had been continuously putting off the wedding.
"Mom. I told you. He doesn't like me. He is doing all this so he doesn't have to marry me," Natasha said, looking at Alex.
"It's not like that. I want to marry you. But they're really important guests. They will be a huge help in starting our new life." Alex smiled at Natasha.
Emily saw Alex smiling at Natasha and didn’t like it at all. "He doesn't look handsome at all smiling like that," Emily said, annoyed.
"That's because he isn't smiling at you but at someone else," Nelson told Emily.
Emily nodded in agreement.
Alex called the people he was waiting for, and they said that they were almost there. Within two minutes, they would be in the church.
Alex hung up the phone and waited for them. John came to Alex and whispered to him, "Do you have a plan to get out of this wedding, or are you just delaying it?"
Alex smiled and nodded. "I have a plan. A good plan," he whispered back.
"What are you two talking about?" Sarah narrowed her eyes at John and Alex.
"It's nothing important. I was just telling him he shouldn't keep delaying the wedding," John lied.
Sarah agreed with John. "Yeah, and this is only the last time we will wait. After that-" Sarah stopped speaking as she heard footsteps.
She turned around and saw a man and woman in their thirties walking towards them.
"Now who are they?" Sarah muttered to herself.
