37. First breakfast

Netayah was in the process of finishing up the final legs of the morning meal, when the men finally took it upon themselves to join her. Xios was the first one to saunter into the kitchen area, smiling at the young woman who was posted up in front of the brand new stove. “Good morning beautiful.”

She blushed. “You ain't too bad yourself.”

“Whoo hoo! Did you hear that Xavier?,” Xios crowed in excitement, glancing over his shoulder at the brother who was fast at his heels, having come downstairs at the same time almost. “Our little mate thinks that I'm gorgeous. She said so.”

A deep frown creased the bridge of his nose when he heard his brother, a forlorn expression on his face when he turned in her direction. “Where's my compliment? What does he have that I don't?”

“Blue eyes,” she giggled.

He grinned. “Touché, but he doesn't have green ones either.”

Smiling at the man she came around to the other side of the kitchen table, without thinking she took the man up into a tight hug. “I did not mean it like that obviously, you are very handsome too.”

“Of course he is,” his brother added. “He has my face.”

Xavier stubbornly stuck his tongue out at his brother in a playful manner, determined to keep the light-hearted banter between them going. “Look at me Xi, I must surely be special. I got the first hug.”

“So childish,” his twin grunted beneath his breath, then leaning closer he lowered his voice by several degrees, appearing to keep her out of the loop. “I got to hold her in my arms. I had her curled up against me, so I still win.”

Listening to the playful banter between the two men, Netayah instantly realized that she delighted in the playful mood that both of them had. It definitely spoke volumes of what their life could be like if things worked out how she hoped them to, testament to the life they'd share. She swats the both of them in a teasing manner for the banter between them, then returned to the food that was cooking on the stove. A spatula is waved at them in warning. “Behave yourselves, boys, no one has won or is better than the other. Now sit down breakfast is almost ready.”

Without issuing a single complaint at the command the woman had issued to them this morning, allowing her to be the one to take command. Offering her those dazzling smiles that had enchanted her since she bore witness to them, both of them sat down into a chair at the table. Just like had been the case the night before at dinner the both of them sat down in a chair on either side of the table, leaving the seat at the head of the table open. It was clear that both of them had come to the seating arrangements they preferred to have, each of them enabled to be at her side.

“I really hope that neither of you mind, but I made breakfast for everyone,” Netayah explained to them as she finished up, instantly growing uneasy at the thought of their reaction to taking advantage of the place. “I don't really know the dos or don’ts or what's expected of me in this whole situation. I mean we really haven't had the chance to talk about it.”

Reaching for her hand when she came within distance of him, Xios gently tugged her closer to him, his other hand forced her to look at him. “Its okay, Netayah. There's no need for you to be afraid of what our reaction might be, you're not in trouble nor did you overstep any invisible boundary.”

Xavier tipped his head in the direction of the kitchen. “If you haven't noticed Netayah everything in the kitchen is brand new, everything in here has never been touched, by anyone.”

His brother eagerly nodded. “This kitchen has only ever been meant for our mate, you, to have a place to prepare meals for our family. We've never wanted anyone else to have the pleasure of using the kitchen and we normally had all of our meals downstairs in the dining room. And as for your fear of your place here, this is your family too now. Never be afraid to go anywhere.”

“Yes, this is our home,” the other added.

Netayah was deeply touched by the sentiment from the man, at the knowledge that they had held back from using the kitchen, to allow her the pleasure of the first experience. It was something that young she-wolves often dreamed about, to be able to enjoy the pleasure of feeding their mates for the very first time. Yet even as her excitement rose ever so slightly inside of her, finding herself looking towards the future, she couldn't deny the confusion either. They did too.

“What is it?,’ Xavier asked.

“Please speak your mind,” Xios added.

Finally sitting down at the table between them when the food was set out in the center of the table, she paused in the midst of dishing up a plate for them. Placing down the plate half filled with the food she cooked for them, her glance went from one brother to the next, sighing wearily. “I'm just a little confused by all of this. I don't see how I can be mated to both of you. I've never heard of a mate bond between three people. Each person only ever has one soul wolf spiritually bound to them, but yet you're claiming I have two.”

“It's fated,” Xavier replied.

She nodded. “But how is it possible? It doesn't make any sense. The both of you carry the same identical scent, have the same vibrations, sensation, everything is the exact mirror image of each other, but yet you are two separate beings. It just doesn't make sense to me. No two people have ever shared the same scent, not even identical twins.”

Xios reached out for her hand sitting down on the edge of the table, slipping it into his much larger one, offering it a compassionate squeeze. Then he reached out his other hand to the side of her face then, gently brushing the hair that had fallen down in her eyes. “Because we are unlike any set of twins ever to be born, a rarity that has never come into existence before. Our connection goes much deeper than simply being brothers or twins, as you will come to see for yourself. We're known as the Hydra.”

“Two heads one heart,” Netayah recited the old saying.

Xavier tipped his head in acknowledgment. “That is exactly us to a T. We are born of the same essence, the same life force, same destiny. It’s why we are both alphas, both of us are warriors, just as we are both firstborn.”

She jerked up. “How can you both be firstborn?”

His hand falling away when he came to see her coming to terms with what they told her, Xios reached for the mug of coffee in front of him. “The answer to that is obvious. We were born at the same exact moment.”

Her eyes widened. “Seriously?”

Xavier burst out laughing. “Now imagine our mother's shock, when she had first given birth to her child. No one had even guessed that she had been carrying twins, as there was no indication that she had been an additional child in her womb. When she had produced her cubs no one knew how to handle she had given birth to a set of twin boys, wrapped around each other, born at once.”

“Wow,” she gasped.

Xios jumped back into the conversation. “I believe that is why the goddess had chosen us one single mate for us, rather than two separate ones. If we had our own mate that meant we would have to lead separate lives, but with a destiny like ours that's not only impossible, its potentially dangerous too. So the goddess created us the perfect mate, meant for the both of us. You.”

“Oh.”

When the man had finished scarfing down the last of the food she'd made for them, the plate was pushed away from him and Xios rubbed his belly, “Damn woman that was good.”

She blushed. “It was just eggs, bacon and sausage.”

Xavier added. “It was delicious.”

“Thank you,” she said.

Xios slowly arose from his seat on the side of the table, then coming around to where she was sitting he pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. “Try to get some rest love, you need it after everything.”

Xavier did the same. “Yes, try to get some sleep.”

Then with promises of seeing her later and to call them should she need anything, the alphas walked out of their suit, headed downstairs.
