“I have made up my mind to go ahead with the test. I love my shoe sales, and clothing are hard to buy after a certain time.” Nat told me with a bright smile.
“Well my dear that is why the underground mall was built. Vampires had something to do with that. Atlanta has the best mall for that though, not many of the other cities wanted to deal with the cost.”I couldn’t help but laugh at the look she gave me.
It was nice to know I could shock her. The vampires had worked hard to blend into the human race by doing that we have set up many things to help our kind. Subways is one of those things, you see vampires couldn’t deal with the sun. The subways stopped the sun from touching us. The truth was that the subway didn’t always work out that well which is why most of the trains had very tinted windows.
“Hmph well then I should tell the good doctor that I have made up my mind. By the way when is this woman, Sydney going to be showing up? Also when can I call my mother? She must be worried sick.” Nat was really worried about her mother.
I sighed handing her the paper, it had been a week since she had been taken. The papers hadn’t lost interest in her story either. They kept printing the fact that she was still missing and that her mother was offering a reward for information about her. There was a small bit about her father as well.
“My god, Draven we have to tell her soon or she will have a heart attack and die. I swear she never acted like this before.” Nat couldn't believe her mother.
“My dear Natalia, she thinks you are going to be found cut up and dead. I can promise you that will not happen, but how are you going to explain the fact you are fine.” I could tell she was struggling with the idea of her mother being so upset, it would only be a few more days and then she could call her mother telling her she was fine and that she got away from her attackers. Thanks to yours truly. The men didn’t last long under her attention for blood; both had almost died the last time so we had to put them on bagged blood to replace it. They had to look healthy when they showed up at the police station.“Are you hungry?”
“I think I am ok, but I might want to grab a bag.” We headed to the kitchen, which happens to be down the hall and to the right of the front room. It is a large room, with an island in and an over sized fridge. A table that could sit at least ten sat to one side, a throw rug lay on the floor to bring color into the room. The walls were an egg shell white, with ivy painted around the upper wall. A nice painting of a water wheel hung on the other wall. As we entered the room I couldn’t help but grab her lush ass. I had insisted that she be brought up to the main house. She wasn’t going to be treated like the others. My queen would have all the things she loved.
“Keep it up; I might end up throwing you to the floor and having my way with you.” She said over her shoulder.
“I might like that punishment Ma Cher.” I told her with a wink.
Without another word we both grabbed a bag of blood putting it into coffee mugs. I liked mine heated just a touch to give me the illusion of body temp. Natalia on the other hand drank it cold. We both drank then cleaned the mugs. As we started for the front room the door bell rang. It must be Sydney, but I never knew for sure who might show up.
“So have you and this woman ever?” Nat asked crossing her arms over her chest.
“No…When I first meet Sydney she was mated for life.” I told her with a sigh.
“Oh I see…” She didn’t seem to know what to say about that.
So I opened the door and Sydney stood on my front porch looking tired and beautiful as always. She had been turned at the age of twenty-five. Tall for a woman of her age, standing at five foot six she was build like a model. Thin with enough bumps to call them boobs. Today she wore hip huggers with an 80’s style shirt that hung from one shoulder with a tank under it. To look at her you would think she was only twenty. Her hair was in a short bob that she had colored blonde with purple and pink throughout. She blended into the younger crowd more than I did, but I wasn’t about to tell her that she looked fifteen with her hair that way. She glared at me and I knew she had read the thought right out of my head. I knew better than to keep my shields down around her.
“Nice to see you too Draven…My lord.” She bowed slightly then came and gave me a bone crushing hug. Truth was she seemed more like a sister to me. After her hug she turned to Natalia. “My queen…” she said and bowed then hugged her without the crushing part. Natalia just stood there shocked out of her mind. Yes I could read her but I didn’t want to be rude and jump into her thoughts.
“Did she just call me queen?” Nat asked looking at me.
“Well yes, the brat didn’t tell you that since he turned you and you lived through it you happen to be a queen…His queen.” Sydney held nothing back when telling Nat the truth.
I glared at her for a moment. I felt her glare then sighed, I had wanted to tell her everything but it had been one hell of a week. The lab was running smooth now that Bob was out of the way and Elysium seemed to know her stuff. The work on the blood food mix was coming along rather well. A few vampires had stepped forward to help taste the items. Some of them had turned out rather well, I had even tasted them and the mix was great. We happen to still be working on the synthetic blood. A new store had caught our eye and I would bring in the blood or one of the scientists within the week. Money talked with most people, and I hoped that I could bring them here to help us to create the blood. We would call it OxyLood or something like that. Maybe something else, I didn’t really know yet. Maybe we could name it after a vampire or something. I sighed and looked at the women standing in the front room. They glared at me and I didn’t really know what to do with the two of them. I did know that I happen to be in deep shit.
