Chapter 100 - The Blessed Luna
Jenna's POV
"Go ahead and go to our room." I whispered to James.
He left me with a kiss on the forehead and a swift nod. I stood there watching Shelby look out the window. Suddenly, Asteria appeared. Chloe moved forward, ready if anything were to happen.
Since losing Shelby, she's been on edge. We tried to heal her after I shouted to Thomas and James to kill Artemis. I felt helpless and useless, because there was nothing I could do. I see now the reason, she had to die, it was her destiny.
I listened closely to their conversation. Thank goodness for wolf hearing. If there was to be another war, then I would be by her side. Not because she was my Luna, but because she was my best friend. I watched her after Asteria left, she was thinking the words Asteria said over in her mind. I saw her sigh and start to head up the stairs. She didn't notice me, so I left before she could.
All night I contemplated how I can aid her, the best way possible, if another battle happened. Or this revolution. No doubt immortality would have to be the only option. To achieve that was next to impossible. Before I knew it I had drifted off to sleep.
I woke up around lunch time. In order to sleep tonight, I decided to stay up. Even though my body wanted to protest. I sighed, sat up in bed, my mind going back to thinking. James got up and went to the bathroom.
'Just leave it alone. We can't become immortal. The gods wouldn't allow it.' Chloe said with a huff.
'But we should make sure. It just seems like we were destined for so much more. Why give us so many gifts and abilities just for something so quick as that battle?" I questioned her.
"Are you ok, babe?" James asked, putting his hand under my chin to lift my face.
"Yeah. Just chatting with Chloe." I said, biting my lip.
"What is it? I know you too well to believe that's all."
"Fine. How does someone become immortal?"
"What? ... I ... I have no clue." James stuttered, probably caught off guard not expecting that reply.
"Exactly, that's why I didn't say anything." I sighed.
"Although, we both know a certain wolf who, more than likely, would know all about it."
I looked at him in confusion before it hit me, like a smack in the face.
"Liam!"
"Yep. Your brother knows all kinds of stuff. Let's get dressed, have lunch, and go see him."
I got out of bed and got ready. After we ate, I pulled Liam aside. James had to go help Thomas with a pack matter.
"We need to talk." I said, probably a little more serious than I meant to.
He agreed and we went to his office. He went to his desk and I locked the door.
"What is this important that nobody can know?" He said, gesturing to me locking the door.
"You may want to sit down for this, brother."
"Seriously? The brother card only gets played when you need a favor or information." He said, taking a sit in his chair behind his desk.
"How does someone become immortal."
"Ahhh, well, you have to be granted immortality or be born immortal. Wait ... Why do you want to know all of a sudden?"
I explained everything, last night, my feelings, and my thoughts. The whole time he had so many different expressions on his face.
"What do you think? Could it be possible?"
"It never hurts to ask. The worst they could say is no."
"Where do we even begin?"
Liam stood up from his desk.
"Hermes, please come forth."
Hermes appeared, looking confused by our sudden calling.
"The beautiful women here are to die for, you werewolves are some lucky guys." He said, shooting me a wink.
He was always the most shameless flirt. I looked over to Liam rolling his eyes.
"My sister here has a very intriguing thought. She wants to know who she needs to get in touch with to be granted immortality."
Hermes looked shocked. He put his hand to his chin and thought for a moment.
"That would be Goddess Shelby's true grandmother, Rhea."
"Can I get a meeting with her?" I asked nervously.
"That might be possible. She doesn't do to much anymore. I will send word that your seeking an audience with her. Be back soon."
With a smile and a wink he was gone.
"Well I guess now we wait. What exactly are we going to say?" Liam asked with a raised brow.
"We?"
"Yes. Now you have my interest held. What if we all could get immortality to help out with this revolution."
Sooner than I thought Hermes was back.
"Rhea has accepted your request. Your reasoning better be solid. She'll meet you tonight in the field at 8, don't be late. Good luck."
"That gives us a few hours to think about what to say to her." Liam nodded.
Hermes nodded, threw another wonk at me, and was gone again. We sat and talked and came up with points and direction of how we want to navigate the conversation. Someone tried to enter the door. They huffed and I knew that huff well.
"Liam, why is your door locked?" Jackie shouted through the door.
Liam was moving faster than lightening when he heard her voice.
"Did you acquire vamp speed too?" I laughed at his actions.
"What are y'all two doing?"
Liam and I looked at each other. I nodded to him and he pulled Jackie inside. He locked the door back and we explained it all to her. She had confusion and shock the whole time.
"I'm going too." Jackie stated.
Before we could protest, there was another knock at the door.
"Are you done with my wife yet?"
I opened the door and pulled James inside, locking it back.
"Did he have any answers?"
"James already knows, but you just told me?" Jackie huffed.
"Not everything. I guess we all four can go tonight." I said with a sigh.
"Go where?" James said looking between all us.
We went back over everything a third time. Good thing this is the last person. I was getting tired of repeating it over and over.
"Ok. So ... We all meet on the back patio at 7:30?" Liam asked us.
We all agreed. James and myself left, heading to the Alpha floor.
"I got some stuff to go over with Thomas. Maybe you can go see if Shelby needs anything." James kissed my forehead and left.
I went to Shelby's office and knocked. She told me to come in.
"What are you doing?"
"I was going over somethings for a new daycare and park. Plus, a summer event for both packs. Which reminds me ... I need to call Laura. It feels so nice to do normal stuff again." Shelby smiled tiredly.
"The wedding?"
"Let me get caught up and enjoy normalcy for a little while, please."
I chuckled at her exhausted face. We have been through so much in such a little time. Especially her. I can't imagine, in a million years, how she feels or how she pulls through it.
"Maybe you should go rest."
"I plan on going to bed early and sleeping all night. I have been wanting to get this done for a while now, though."
"Anything you need me to do? I am your Beta. My job is to assist you just like James does for Thomas."
"Actually, yes. Can you go over this with me and help me decide on things."
I nodded and we got to work. Going over blueprints and decor plans for the daycare. We settled the layout of the park. During the park layout, I noticed Shelby dosing off.
"How bout we stop here for today, get you some dinner, and put you to bed?"
"It's only 6. I can go a little longer."
She was determined to push herself, but I was determined too.
"No. I'm your Beta, your protector, sister, and best friend. Your done for today." I said, not leaving any room for her to argue.
"When your right your right. I am done."
She got up with a giggle and we went to the kitchen. Liam and Jackie were already in there fixing them something to eat.
"What are you two doing in here?" Jackie asked after we walked in.
"Our Luna here needs a break, some food, and sleep. I had to tear her away from her duties."
We sat down and had some dinner. Thomas and James joined us after a little while. We talked and chatted about our day and the plans we were working on. We left out the part anout our meeting with Rhea later.
"She gets anymore tired, you will have to carry her to bed." I said to Thomas pointing at Shelby.
"I'd gladly do that even if she weren't tired, but your right. Shelby, are you ready for bed?"
He went over and lifted her into his arms. A blush lit her cheeks. I saw her snuggle against him as they walked to the door.
"It's almost time. Shall we go now?" Liam whispered, after they left, looking between us.
We got up and cleaned the table. Jackie and I loaded the dishwasher and we headed outside. It was a warm Louisiana summer night. A cool breeze making the humidity bareable. We started our walk down to the field. Less than 24 hours ago this was the scene of a real life horror show. Now, if it weren't for the blood still staining the grass and the memories, you wouldn't know it even happened.
As if right on cue, right at 8 sharp, Rhea appeared.
"I didn't expect more than one." She chuckled.
"Sorry, your grace. We heard my sister's question and we all became interested to learn more." Liam said, bowing to her.
"And what is this interesting subject about that it was me you had to ask?"
I looked a little confused but understood her. Nobody talks like that anymore. Since she asked I took my chance.
"Immortality. We want to know how we can achieve it."
"I see. Doesn't everyone at some point want immortality? What selfish reason do you have? Most who want it, want it for all kinds of reasons, greed of never dying is the most popular one."
"To aid our Luna for all eternity." I simply replied.
"Ohhh." She said with a surprised look.
"We know there is a revolution forming between everyone in the heavens." Liam stated.
"And we want to be there to help." Jackie followed.
"To stand with my sister and fight." James added.
"We couldn't have been given these gifts, done all this training, learned all this stuff ... for one short battle." I said bluntly.
"Maybe you are correct. Selene."
Selene appeared and smiled brightly.
"I knew you would come forth. I just didn't know it was going to be this soon." Selene beamed.
"You knew?" Rhea asked amused.
"I knew it would happen at some point. Jenna wouldn't let her best friend walk alone for all eternity without her." Selene giggled.
"I heard Asteria telling Shelby she was her savior in the revolution." I stated.
"Asteria!" Rhea yelled.
"Yes, your grace." Asteria said with a bow as she appeared.
"You went to see Shelby again last night?" Rhea questioned her.
"Yes. I heard her thoughts call to me. I must confess, I knew Jenna was listening."
"So you helped plant the seed of curiosity in Jenna's mind. Clever little titan." Selene chuckled. "It is only fitting they get immortality as they were gifted amazing gifts. The battle to end Apollo, Artemis, and Leto was Gaia's ploy, was it not, mother? Could they not also aid in the bigger picture with us, to knock down the hierarchy?"
"Yes. I was against using Shelby to end them, but Gaia's design with the Fates, was set in stone. These six are a lethal team when they unlock there full potential. You will not be granted a gods status, but I will grant you a gods life. Just know ... a god can be killed, especially by another god." Rhea said to us all.
"But how can that be? Shelby, Thomas, and Jackie killed Apollo, Artemis, and Leto." Liam asked confused.
"Shelby became a goddess. Thomas will eventually take Apollo's place. And Leto was a titan. Different rules apply to different beings. Immortality means you live forever. It does not mean you can't die. Gods were gifted a different type of immortality. They can only die at the hands of another god." Rhea explained. "I planned on making you immortal. I just didn't plan on it so soon. I'm glad to see that you have come to me. I'm also pleased with your reasoning in doing so. Remember, you must still avoid death."
We all agreed. Rhea raised her hands. Selene joined her. She grabbed one of Selene's hands and said a few words, I'm guessing in Greek.
"A blessing to you that will give you life eternal." Rhea said as a bright light washed over us.
I could feel tingling throughout my whole body. It was like my soul was beginning to become awake, my hairs stood on end, I got goosebumps across my skin, and my hair floated. I closed my eyes, enjoying the little dance of electricity under my skin. It was a little more intense than the tingles I get from James.
"It is done. Welcome to an undying eternity." Rhea chuckled. "Ladies we should leave."
They all three were gone in a blink of an eye. I honestly felt no different after the tingling stopped.
"I guess were this age forever." James laughed. "I got loads of questions for you now, Liam."
I laughed as Liam mumbled "Oh God No." under his breath and grabbed Jackie, sprinting to the packhouse. I walked back. James was between us, power walking to catch up but not wanting to leave me alone. I watched them and knew I'd never want any other people to spend eternity with than these guys.
--- Maybe we should test out immortality during training? Now we have to tell Shelby and Thomas. ---
