Chapter 40: Scared

Daniel

I saw the news. I was glad that Chris came to save my company, but I need someone. Someone to love me. I know I have been cruel to her but now I have changed and she should have given me a chance.

But she didn’t. She left me.

I got up and called Chris. 

“Hey” I said to him.

“Hello Daniel”

“Where did she go?” I asked him. I haven’t even asked her where she went.

“Probably Paris”

“okay, thank you”

“What are you gonna do?” he asked me.

“Go there” I ended the call. 

I just wanna see you, Kate. I know you are still mine.

I packed up my things. The doctor had arrived but I dismissed him. I want to be alone. And if someone is gonna be there, it will be Kaitlyn.

Or someone who loves me.

I took my luggage and went to my car. I booked my private plane and then drove there.

I boarded the plane to Paris and sat down. I was quite anxious as I wondered what she might be doing. What if she is with someone else?

I shrugged my thoughts. If she is, I will show her what true jealousy feels like. 

I waited for the plane to land. It is a long journey, but will be worth it.

After almost 12 hours, the plane landed and I got off it. I was tired, but I really just wanted to see her. I gathered a few men I trusted and asked them to find her as soon as possible.

I went and got a cab to one of the best hotels. I know I will change it as soon as I get to know where she is staying.

I went into my room and sat down. My mind was at a war with my heart. I wanted to see her, but I wasn’t sure what I might see. I just wanted to make sure she wasn’t with anyone else.

I looked at my phone as I waited for it to ring.

Suddenly the name ‘Men 1’ popped up and two options to ‘accept’ or ‘decline’ showed up. My lips curled up on the corners.

I picked up the call and put it on the speaker.

“yes?” I asked him.

“Sir, found her”

“Where is she? Is she with someone?”

“Sir she was walking with someone in a park. I noticed she was holding hands and was talking to the man”

“That’s some real shit. Find more about the man and the place where she is staying”

“On it, boss”

The call ended and I let out a roar of rage. I just hoped for one thing, but it wasn’t fulfilled.

Kaitlyn

After he left me at my hotel yesterday, I was overwhelmed.

So much changed in just a day. I had my first date with Kurt. It felt good being with him, but I really was confused.

It was 10 in the morning. I just walked with him in the park again. It was good, as he said. We have decided to walk together regularly as it would bring us closer.

However, I still kept my distance: I am not so sure about him. I shouldn’t forget that I was betrayed by Daniel.

I needed some money to start a fine life here, and it seemed like ‘work from home’ isn’t my thing. I decided to do something and I called Kurt.

“Hey” he said on the call. “What’s up?”

“Um, I was thinking of working somewhere and I wondered if you had any opinions”

“Oh sure I do!” His voice was enthusiastic. “You can work with me. See, Mr. Daniel’s company is sinking, so I am leaving my job. I was gonna work with someone else. We can work together”

His name had some effect on me, but I was quick to hide it in front of my boyfriend, “That’d be good! Just tell me when you are gonna join it!”

“Sure. Let’s go together to the interview. Today, 4 PM”

“Okay! Pick me up”

“I will”

I smiled. I was so glad that I would work with him. I mean, if we ignore the love part, he is still a friend. It is better than working with a stranger.

And maybe I will come to know him better and start something new.

I looked at the time and sighed. This is such a waste of time. 

My phone suddenly rang and without seeing the name, I was sure that it was Kurt. I picked it up.

“Hey!”

“I am coming” I heard a voice, which was completely distorted. It was so scary that the phone fell on the ground and I went back.

The phone was put on the speaker automatically. The same scary voice continued, “Did you miss me?”
