Chapter 77 How did you get my number
“I believe you know why I called you?”
“How did you get my number? Ana asked him.
“You should know how much power and influence I have. I have my ways.
This was her personal number which was different from her business line so him being able to get her personal number was surprising. Only her family and Emiliano had it.
“This is my personal line, how did you get it?”
“I said I have my ways”
“I will report you to the police for going against the restriction placed on you. And you will also have to explain how you got my personal line, Mr Buenavista” Ana said in anger
Fernando smiled ‘Nothing among my restriction stated that I can’t call you on phone”
“It’s still part of the restriction. Talking to me is prohibited” Ana said.
“Fine, then go to the police station tomorrow I will gladly be there so I can use the opportunity to see you and talk to you” He said
Seeing that he was silent, he smiled.
“I called you because I saw the sister of Ana yesterday with your child and when I investigated, I found out that she is bearing your surname. Can you kindly explain how that is possible” Fernando’s voice became serious.
He had immediately switched from being playful to being serious.
Ana was silent
If you do not answer me, then I will be the one to report to the police so they can do a more thorough investigation about you, Ana’s family and Emiliano too. He will have no other choice but to explain to the authorities where her family has been all these years and when exactly their names were changed. I am the most powerful man in this city, I can manipulate things to my own favor. You think this restriction stops me from coming to you or investigating you further? If there is a reason why I signed that restriction and agreed to stay away it’s because of your child, I do not want a child to get involved in this cause I can do what I dame please if I want to do it and I can do it how I want to because guess what, I am above the law” Fernando said with a serious tone laced with a threat.
Ana was fuming at this point. She was familiar with how arrogant he can get.
“Answer me,” Fernando added when she said nothing.
“Their names were changed to my surname because it’s a way of preventing you from finding them. They can decide to change their names back to the one they want. We are like family now. Since I look like their sister and daughter and my child takes them as family too.
“Why do they have to change their names because of me? I was never going to harm them?” Fernando till now could not understand why they hid all these years.
“The Ana you knew was killed by someone and their house was burnt by that same person. Her family was in danger, they didn’t know who was harming their family so they decided to stay hidden.
“Ana was killed” Fernando had never thought that someone had killed Ana because it was said that she committed suicide and their house was burnt due to a domestic mistake which is why her father dead. The authority verified it so how was he now hearing this!!?”
Ana knew that a lot was going through his mind now. She could hear his breathing suddenly sounding heavy.
“I never knew that was what happened, if I had known I would have found out who did it” Fernando said in anger. I can’t believe someone killed Ana!” Fernando said as he clenched his fist till his veins popped out.
His voice sounded like someone in pain.
Had he really cared about her? Ana thought about it. She never really believed that he cared about her. All his advances then, she had taken it as a man who was trying to quench his fleshly desires. And his care for her after her fake death made her think he felt guilty
Maybe him sounding angry and in pain now is because he also feels guilty for not investigating her death then.
“I need to see them, I need to speak to her family and also I will find out what happened 6 years ago and who killed Ana” Fernando said.
Ana moved the phone from her ear to breath before putting it back “Fine then, if that is what you want to do. I need to go to bed. I have a lot to do tomorrow and let this be the first and last time you call me. I have no business with you and I will place more restrictions on you in the future if I see you close to me and my daughter”
“And also, about you being above the law. Guess what, nobody is above the law when there is public opinion. I recorded what you said and you are forgotten so soon that I’m a lawyer. If you still think you are above the law then try me and see how I will send you to jail for going against the law” Ana said before hanging up.
Fernando looked at his phone. He was not angry with what she said, instead he found her to be more impressive. She sure doesn’t know what he is capable of.
The next day
“What happened to you Ana, you were not being yourself in there” Emiliano said as they stepped out of the board meeting they just had.
“I’m sorry, my mind was all over the place” Ana said.
Emiliano looked at her face and knew that something was wrong.
“Tell me what happened, is it related to Fernando”
Ana stopped walking and faced him “Yes”
Emiliano frowned “What happened, what did he say to you”
“He called me last night,” Ana said.
Emiliano's face changed to that of anger “How did he get your number?”
“I do not know and it was my personal line. He has lots of influence so he must have found a way”
Emiliano ran a hand in his hair in anger "Meaning we have to investigate the people we have around us. You might have a spy in that house. You just recently employed domestic staff, some of them might be spies he sent” Emiliano said.
