Kaylee looked at her mother with a hurt expression when she heard her words.
“Mom, how can you say that? Am I not your daughter?” she asked in tears making Mrs Clark roll her eyes.
“Stop with the pretense. You are my daughter and I know you more than anyone else does. So don’t think that I would be blinded or start panic when I see you crying,” Mrs Clark said making Kaylee so speechless that she forgot to cry again.
She felt wronged as she wasn’t even faking crying and tears but crying genuinely.
She stared at her mother as she wondered why the latter had changed so much.
“Then why don’t you come up with something else? If you are calling me selfish for choosing to live over staying here then why don’t you call her and you convince her? She might listen to you. After all, aren’t you her stepmother?” Kaylee said with a smirk making her mother angry.
She hated when people showed her then she was just worthless and shouldn’t have anything even love. So even if it was her mother, she would eventually leave her to feed herself.
“Kaylee! How can you say that to me? I am your mother for goodness sake!” Mrs Clark shouted as her hands started itchy as she resisted the urge to slap her daughter.
“Mother? Yes, you are indeed my biological mother. You know, I feel as if I don’t have a mother since I am the one who does everything for the both of us. Every time you need something and know that Dad won’t listen to you, you always tell me to request it for you. It’s like I am the mother here and not you! What’s wrong with a child making a decision for herself that would keep her life? You call me selfish for the decision I made but can’t you see that you are also selfish since you don’t care whether I live or not? To you, you only want to leave this place. Go talk to Rhiannon and convince her to drop the charges since you think that I am selfish,” Kaylee said angrily causing her mother to be so angry and hit her.
Kaylee staggered before she got a balance on herself.
“Mom, you hit me?” she asked in disbelief when she stared at her mother.
“Yes. I hit you! How can you speak to your mother like that? Do you think that we are agemates for you to talk to me the way you want? If I was really selfish as you claim, do you think that you could be enjoying the luxury that you are today? I did that for you! I made sure that I married your father so that you could not have the same kind of life I had you. You don’t see that! I protected you to the point that you have forgotten everything that I have done for you. I have given you everything till you started thinking that it's usual getting those things that you feel as if I have never given you anything,” Mrs Clark said as she pointed at her angrily.
“Do you think that if it were your father, you would be having the clothes you have? He had always wanted to send designers over at home to tale yours and Rhiannon’s measurements but I always came up with ways so that you can be the one getting everything while Rhiannon got nothing,” she added.
“I have always paved the way for you. Done everything with cation so as your father may never find out cause if he did, we would be punished. Now that you are grown up, you can’t even try doing something that your mother has asked you,” Mrs Clark said as started breathing heavily.
Kaylee stared at her mother and frowned as she really didn’t want anything to happen to her mother.
Cause without her, she didn’t think that she would be able to achieve a lot of things than before. She also understood that her mother always wanted the best for her.
“Mom, can you please calm down?” she asked anxiously as she stood up and tried to pull her mother to sit on the bed.
“Calm down? How can I calm down when you don’t even respect me or see me as your mother? Sometimes I am sad and envious of Sabrina, although she dies, Rhiannon is always filial and talking good things about her mother that even one can say that the mother is still alive,” Mrs Clark said causing Kaylee to be angry at her once again.
She stared at her mother before going to sit on her bed.
“Since you like or should I say admire Rhiannon for her filialness, why didn’t you try her well like your daughter so that she can also be filial to you?” Kaylee said causing her mother to be speechless and at the same time understand that the young lady was angry.
“Als mom, you talk about paving ways for me but let me ask, what way? After all, I am unable to get the company because of Rhiannon! You should have killed her so I could take over the company without any opposition or something coming up like the last time,” Kaylee shouted causing her mother to see her as if she were seeing her for the first time.
“Kill? Rhiannon was never so into becoming the president and that’s why I didn’t see the need for that. Also, both of you always got along well although she was the only genuine person. If you could have requested that from her, I am sure that she could have given you as to her, you were her dear sister whom she loved dearly and grew up with,” Mrs Clark said causing Kaylee to remain silent.
She knew that whatever she had Aoron had done was wrong and since Rhiannon survived, she would surely get back at them for everything they did to her. She also knew that after Rhiannon came back, she came when she was a changed person who just wanted to make her pay for everything.
“Mom, can you stop talking about Rhiannon? We should come up with ways of getting out of here,” Kaylee said as the more she heard her mother mention Rhiannon, the more she became terrified and aw that death was knocking at the door. Who loved death?
Her mother glanced at her before sitting on her bed.
“It's all your fault,” Mrs Clark insisted before holding her chest and breathing heavily as if she was having difficulty breathing.
“Mother, what’s wrong?” Kaylee said as she started panicking.
“I ca… can’t bre…. athe we… ell and my hea…rt is a… ching,” Mrs Clark said as she stammered causing Kaylee to start crying.
“Mother, you can’t leave me! I am your daughter! If you die, who will take care of me?” she asked as she cried and held her mother’s hands.
“Chi… ild, do… doc ….tor,” Mrs Clark said as she held Kaylee’s hand tied.
“Mother, what are you trying to say? I can’t get you,” Kaylee asked as she got closer to hear her mother’s words.
“Do… doc ….tor,” Mrs Clark repeated once more.
“Doctor? Mom, are you telling me to call for a doctor?” Kaylee asked as her mother started to nod.
“Okay,” she said before running out of the cell.
“My mother is sick. Is there a doctor? Please help me, my mother can’t breathe. Please help me.”
