“Are both of you going to return her things or not?” Mr Clark asked the mother-daughter duo who were seated opposite him.
“Why should I return them to her? She has refused to drop the charges. How sure am I that she will drop them after I return them?” Kaylee said sharply and arrogantly.
Mr Clark glared at her hoping that she would change her decisions as his position was at risk. He also couldn’t understand why Kaylee turned the way she was.
He had expected Rhiannon to be that way as he never provided her with the same luxury he provided Kaylee with but everything that had been happening proved him wrong.
“You have to! Rhiannon is the head of the company and has more power than you think! She said that if you didn’t return her things, she would take the CEO position from me. Do you want me to be left with no power in the company?” Mr Clark said loudly and angrily shocking the duo.
“What? How can that wrenched girl do that to you? Has she forgotten that you are her father? And if she doesn’t see you as her father, she should remember that our family is the one who took care of her! She would have long joined her mother if it weren't for us!” Mrs Clark said angrily making Mr Clark angry.
Although he took special care of Kaylee and neglected Rhiannon, he loved her deeply as she was also his daughter and provided her with the necessities. How could he let anyone curse at her and wish her to die?
“You better watch your tone and words, woman,” he said coldly, making Mrs Clark shut her mouth immediately.
“Dad, why are you shouting at mom? I don’t think that she said anything wrong! You love Rhiannon so much but does she love you? If she did, could she have sent us to prison despite how much you begged her not to?” Kaylee asked angrily as she loved her mother so much.
At the same time, she was worried that if something happened to her mother, her life would also be ruined as the latter was the greatest supporter thus she couldn’t allow her father to wrong her mother or want to divorce her mother.
What would happen to her if her parents divorced? Her mind was just on the properties in her father’s hands. She vowed that she would never let Rhiannon get her hands on them.
Mr Clark remained silent after he heard her words and had to agree with some of her words but there was no way he was going to say anything of it out loud.
“She is still my daughter! Also, don’t say that she doesn’t love me because of your actions. In the past, She did love you dearly and gave you everything you wanted. If you said you wanted one of her jewels, she will, she will give it to you. The only thing she ever asked of you is not to dare take anything from her mother’s room but what did you do? Both you and your mother went and took her mother’s jewels and now, you are refusing to give them back. There is no way I am going to support you in this,” Mr Clark said in a serious tone causing Kaylee mad.
“Dad, how can you say that? It seems you love her but don’t love me. Am I not your daughter too?” Kaylee asked as she cried pitifully.
Mr Clark glanced at her coldly without saying anything as he had discovered that every time Kaylee was in the wrong, she would cry and his heart would soften forgiving her for all her mistakes. Because of this, the lady always escaped punishment while Rhiannon on the other hand, didn’t know how to pretend that she was always punished.
Now, seeing her crying, he could tell that her cries were faked. He remained silent and opted to wait for her to finish crying before continuing to say what he wanted to say.
“Are both of you going to tell me where you hid the jewels so that I can take them to her?” he asked coldly after waiting for some minutes for Kaylee to stop crying and gave up after seeing that she wasn’t stopping her pretense.
Hearing her father’s words, Kaylee was embarrassed but at the same time lucky as no outsider was present to witness it.
She glared at her father as she wondered why the latter didn’t soften his heart when she was crying and did as she said.
“Dad, it is just some jewel, just tell Rhiannon to give them to Mom and me,” Kaylee said as he wiped her tears.
Mr Clark glanced at his youngest daughter with cold eyes as he couldn’t believe how shameless the latter was.
“No way! That was her family’s heirloom. Not the Clarks but her mother’s family heirloom. If you want a heirloom, I will buy some stones and the heirloom will be designed. Also, Kaylee, you better stop making me angry as you will pay for it,” he said coldly and in a warning tone.
Although he always wanted to take the properties that were in Rhiannon’s hands, he wasn’t so shameless to even take a heirloom. He wondered what people would say if they found out what the mother-daughter duo had done.
Would he be able to lift his head high in banquets, company, and even in the streets? He couldn’t let that happen.
“Dad, you are the most selfish person I have ever seen. You just care about what will happen to your position and not what will happen to us here! I won’t tell you where I hid them. Also, you should stop asking Mom as she doesn’t know where they are as I am the one who hid them!” Kaylee said angrily making her father angry.
“You! I regret spoiling you too much! Do you want me to lose my position? That’s fine! I have no issue with that as I already have enough money. I was working hard so that I could get a lot of money to give to you when you get married and leave some properties when I die but now, it seems that my worry and hard work aren’t appreciated.
