“Don’t tell me that you sent them to prison because of that only,” Mr Clark asked as he looked at Rhiannon in disbelief.
The others were shocked when they discovered that Clark’s mistress and the youngest daughter were in jail. They all were frightened as their stock would fall once more if it was discovered.
They wanted to blame Rhiannon and claim that she didn’t care about the company but after thinking about the situation very carefully, they had to admit that both Rhiannon and Mr Clark did a good job in hiding what had happened in their family.
If it wasn’t for the fact that the man had asked Rhiannon immediately and without thinking out of anger, they would never have known it. For this, they didn’t bother blaming Rhiannon again but wondered what kind of mistake the mother-daughter duo made to make Rhiannon so angry that she would charge them.
Rhiannon glanced at her father without thinking and thought that the man could think anything he wanted as it wouldn’t affect her in any way as she had seen the shareholders' faces changing from time to time when they heard that.
“I am asking you a question!” Mr Clark asked angrily and in a loud voice as he glared at Rhiannon but Rhiannon just smirked secretly.
“What do you want me to say, Dad? That, yes, I sent them to prison for that necklace and bracelet. What kind of truth do you want to hear? That what you think is true or not?” Rhiannon asked in a serious tone as her cold eyes stared at her father deeply causing the man to take some steps backwards.
“They are your family! No matter what they do, you should always forgive them!” Mr Clark said shamelessly turning everyone in the room.
“Forgive? Do I look like Jesus so that I can forgive them for something so shameful? Are you mistaking me for him? She asked as she raised her eyebrows and innocently caused the others in the room to be filled with chuckles all over.
Mr Clark’s face darkened as they were laughing at him since Rhiannon didn’t say anything fun. He glared at Rhiannon and started feeling that what Kaylee always said was that the latter was so stupid and caused trouble every time and for everyone.
Rhiannon said the disbelief and disappointment in his eyes and was stunned.
Although she never argued with her father or did he do anything wrong to her, they lived more of neighbors than family as the man would always listen to Kaylee and do everything the latter always said.
She loved her father, but she always put a cold and aloof expression on her face when she came across her as she didn’t want to be treated as if she wasn’t a human being.
Yes, she was hurt when she saw the disappointment in her eyes but what could she have done? Change and pretend to be a good daughter and in return, she would be tortured, humiliated, and ashamed by ‘his family’ till she died?
Thinking of what had happened and that she had almost lost her life, her eyes turned colder than before as she looked at everyone who had wronged her.
“Dad, why do you seem you be disappointed in me? Why do you always not forgive me when I do something wrong and blame me when something happens in the family but every time Kaylee does something, you are always so forgiving and support her? Now, she and her mother stole my mother’s stuff but when I charge them for stealing, you don’t see what they have done but you only see that I am taking your beloved wife and her child in prison. Why don’t you support me the same way you support her? Or am I not your child?” Rhiannon asked with a broken expression and seemed that she was about to cry.
When Mr Clark heard Rhiannon’s words, he stiffed and didn’t know what to say or do. When he saw the tears in her eyes, he remained silent and wondered whether he had done wrong.
“Rhiannon, don’t cry. I am sure that your father was just confused. Also, as you know, Kaylee is the youngest thus she is spoiled more than you. I hope you won’t blame your dad,” a shareholder who had a close friendship with her father said upon seeing the panic in his friend’s eyes.
Rhiannon stared at the man then lowered her head and started shaking it.
“Are you sure that he is spoiling Kaylee because she is the youngest and not because she is from his favorite wife? After all, I don’t think he loved my mother as he went on and cheated on her during their marriage. For this, I am sure that he sees me as a bother and that’s why he never does anything when Kaylee does something. Uncle, do you know, he has never given me a single penny as allowance? Kaylee’s clothes that she wore were all designed but I had to go and buy mine in the mall. What is that? I don’t think that he loves me. Sometimes I wish that my mother was present as she would never let me suffer and see me cry,” she said as tears flowed down her cheek.
The shareholders sympathized with her. Some of those who had a good friendship with her mother shed tears as they asked Sabrina to forgive them as her daughter had been hurt just under their noses and they never knew.
Mr Clark was still frozen but he came out of daze when he heard Rhiannon’s crying sounds.
“Enough. Don’t cry. I admit that it is my fault and that I should be trying both of my girls with equals,” he said as he stared at Rhiannon waiting for her to wipe away her tears and stop crying.
“No need. Equality? I am sure that if you say that, you will force me to give some properties to her. Some that I have worked hard for while the others are the ones left behind by Mom. Since Kaylee is so loved by her mother and father, while I, on the other hand, seek refuge and comfort in my mom’s belongings. How can I let her go with them? Kindly tell your family to tell me where they hid the necklace-bracelet and ring pairs. I used to be loving and also gave Kaylee everything she wanted but has the latter ever tried to be loving and caring towards her sister,” Rhiannon added causing Mr Clark’s face to be awkward as he never expected her to continue.
“I am sure that you also know how those jewels were important to Mother as she never took them out. Before her death, she handed them to me as the family’s heirlooms. Also, I would have carried them to my room, I wanted them to stay together with her other jewels so that whenever I look at them, I can only see my mother’s figure,” Rhiannon said shocking Mr Clark as he never knew such a thing.
“Therefore Mr Clark, I will fight those two to the end if they refuse to return my jewels. And you, their accomplice, if they fail to retain everything, I have the right to fire you as I have the final say in the company.”
