Kaylee was shocked by her father’s words and felt conflicted about what to do.
She had always wanted to take everything that was precious to Rhiannon and that’s why she had taken the jewels so as to make the latter hurt and heartbroken.
Mr Clark glanced at her daughter who was busy having a conflict on what to do. Of course, Kaylee didn’t know to how conceal her emotions thus everything was clear to her father. But when the man saw that she was taking too long to make a decision, he sighed, stood up and turned around ready to leave.
“Where are you going? Aren’t you going to get us out?” Mrs Clark asked in panic when she saw her husband leaving.
Mr Clark halted his steps but didn’t turn around to glance at the latter.
“Get you out? Am I the one who pledged the charges? If you want to get out, call Rhiannon and request her presence. After she comes, beg for her forgiveness as you tell her where her jewels are. Maybe afterward, she would forgive you and get you out,” he said coldly then started walking once more.
Kaylee’s eyes darkened when she heard her father’s words and looked at his departing figure.
All the conflict she had vanished as she cussed herself for being soft-hearted. At the same time, she felt that it was a good thing that she didn’t make any decision and tell her father as they might have continued staying in prison.
How could Kaylee not understand how much Rhiannon hated her? She was so sure that Rhiannon was celebrating for she was in prison and didn’t have any plans on dropping the charges.
Mrs Clark glanced at her daughter her eyes seeming she wanted to say something but she saw her daughter’s cold and dark eyes, she remained silent and didn’t dare say anything as she was afraid of making Kaylee angry.
“Why are giving me that look?” Kaylee asked as she stared at her mother when she saw the look she had been given.
“Uhm. Kaylee, why don’t we just tell them where the jewels are? Maybe Rhiannon will drop the charges. What is the use of us remaining silent and refusing to give her things and in return, we lose the company completely? If that happens to your father, we will never get any opportunity to take it back from Rhiannon.
Kaylee just glanced at her mother but remained silent as she didn’t want to do so. After all, only she and Aoron knew what they had done and how much Rhiannon hated them. Yes, she wanted to tell her mother what happened but at the same time, she was afraid that she might end up telling her father causing the man to be angry to the point of disowning her.
"Forget it. Rhiannon won’t drop the charges. She hates me more than anyone else and wants to see me be miserable. How can I beg my enemy for forgiveness and pity? That would never happen!” Kaylee said in a serious tone as she glared at the wall as if it was Rhiannon.
Mrs Clark knew how stubborn her daughter was thus she didn’t say anything afraid of making the latter feel tired been with her.
“Times up. Stand up and go back to the cell,” the prison guard said coldly as she stared at the latter.
The mother and daughter glanced at the police guard and then glanced at each other before doing as they had been told as they didn’t want to be punished.
They had been in prison for a day and they had been punished countless times as they never did work at home thus how can they do the rough work given in there?
“I really hate Rhiannon! When I get out of here, I won’t try killing her as I had previously done so that I can take what belongs to her! I will make sure she lives a miserable life to witness as I take everything she has. I will make her a beggar before killing her and sending her to her mother!” Kaylee said inwardly as her eyes were cold and had a murderous intention.
The police guard felt the change in the corridor’s temperature but when she looked around and saw that the fans were on, she was confused until she met Kaylee’s eyes.
“Hei! You better stop planning evil things as you might never be able to get out of doing anything bad,” she said as she stared at Kaylee.
It wasn’t that she hated or despised Kaylee but she felt it was a pity that such a beautiful who had a good background to fall to such a state. She didn’t want to see Kaylee running herself as she had witnessed a lot of young women ruining their lives due to anger and jealousy but when they get in prison and suffer hardship, they regret everything they did as they wish they can turn time back. She wasn’t ready to see another person regretting it.
Kaylee glared at her causing the police guard to sigh as she shook her head and at the same time understood that Kaylee was filled with a lot of hatred and negatives and she wasn’t going to listen to her. She didn’t say anything as she felt she would be wasting her breath, time, and energy.
“How did everything turn out today? Did the shareholders support you? Or should I buy some shares so that I can be your greatest supporter?” Octavius asked Rhiannon when she sat on the couch opposite him.
“Everything was fine apart from Dad making a scene and wanting the shareholders to support him,” Rhiannon replied.
“What did he really want?” Octavius asked with a frown on his face as he felt that Mr Clark should be punished.
“For his family to be freed. But how can I accept that? With those jewels on the mother-daughter duo, it is dangerous. I still remember mom’s words and that’s why I didn’t wear them more often and left them in her room as I felt that it was the safest place. Guess I was wrong. The place where I thought was safe turned out not to be,” Rhiannon said with a sigh causing Octavius to stare at her.
“Are you tired? If you are, you should go, take a shower and get some rest. I will wake you up during dinner time,” he said when he saw her tired eyes.
Rhiannon felt touched when she heard his words as the only person who had always been genuinely concerned for her was her nanny but now, she had another person who seemed more worried than Nanny Mary.
She hummed in agreement but didn’t stand up as she thought of something.
She felt that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try to give her marriage with Octavius a chance since the latter was treating her differently.
“Uhm, yesterday we just cuddled. Maybe today we might….”
