Chapter 273 Encounter with Kerena Miller

"He just went to the restroom, he'll be back soon," Alexander said with a slight smile, trying to lighten the mood.

"Move aside!" Esme's voice was filled with irritation, but she held back from getting physical.

After all, these two were Lucas's good friends and heirs to the Wright and Jones families, respectively. Esme couldn't afford to offend them and had to show some courtesy, so she patiently listened to their excuses.

While Alexander was buying time for Lucas, Lucas had already managed to slip out of the bar, breathing a sigh of relief as he escaped the sudden "capture."

After saying goodbye to Alexander and David, Esme searched the bar but couldn't find Lucas. She sighed in frustration. Next time, she wouldn't let Lucas get away so easily!

Alexander and David escorted Esme out of the bar.

"Tell Lucas I'll be back to find him," Esme said firmly before turning and disappearing into the night.

David and Alexander exchanged glances. With a sister like Esme, Lucas was in for a tough time!

But then again, Lucas kind of deserved it. Someone needed to keep him in check.

The two were about to head back into the bar to continue their night. As they passed the entrance, David's gaze casually swept to the side and he accidentally brushed past a sweet-looking college girl.

The girl had stopped at the entrance, her face flushed and eyes betraying a hint of panic. Something about her innocent demeanor and shy expression caught David's attention, drawing his gaze back to her several times. She looked vaguely familiar, almost like Sophia.

Or rather, like the Sophia he used to know.

David kept staring at the college girl, his eyes filled with a mix of admiration and curiosity. The girl, feeling his gaze, blushed even more and lowered her head, too nervous to meet his eyes, feeling both anxious and excited.

Just then, Alexander gently tugged on David's sleeve, reminding him not to be rude. David snapped out of it, realizing he had been staring too long, and quickly apologized to the girl. "Sorry about that."

"It's okay," the girl replied softly, her voice barely audible, her eyes shy but filled with admiration for David's handsome appearance and demeanor.

David turned to head back to their booth, but his mind lingered on the brief encounter.

In that moment, he had seen a glimpse of Sophia in her.

"Let's go, David," Alexander urged, trying to break the subtle tension.

David nodded, but he couldn't stop thinking about the girl. He glanced back and saw her still standing there, her face flushed, her eyes showing a mix of reluctance and anticipation.

"Goodbye," the girl's voice was soft and sweet, her eyes sparkling with admiration, as if she had just planted a seed of fantasy about David in her heart.

David and Alexander returned to their booth. Once seated, Alexander couldn't help but tease, "David, you sure have a way with the ladies! Didn't know you were into that type."

"She's special," David said with a slight smile, feeling a pang of nostalgia. This girl reminded him so much of Sophia.

Yeah, it was nostalgia. David missed the innocent Sophia from their college days.

Meanwhile, the college girl stood at the bar entrance for a while, her mind filled with thoughts of David. Her face still flushed, she couldn't shake the impression of the handsome man, his every move etched in her memory.

Lost in thought, she was brought back to reality by her friends calling her name.

"Kerena! Come on, let's go in!" one of her friends called out excitedly.

Kerena Miller snapped out of her daze, seeing her lively group of friends. She felt a warmth in her heart, quickly shaking off her shyness, and smiled as she joined them.

The group of friends, full of laughter and cheer, headed into the bar.

David, sitting in the booth and chatting with Alexander, heard the cheerful laughter. Looking up, he saw the group of college students entering the bar, instantly livening up the atmosphere.

"Look, there's that girl again," Alexander said, following David's gaze. "College kids sure know how to have fun."

David smiled slightly, feeling a sense of nostalgia. Despite the noise around him, his eyes were drawn to Kerena. Her interactions with her friends were full of youthful energy, making the whole world seem to shine with her laughter.

David couldn't help but think of Sophia again. Was she like this when she was at Harmony City University?

Unfortunately, family troubles had changed her life, binding her to him and starting their unhappy relationship.

If it weren't for that, would they have passed each other by like strangers?

As David pondered, Kerena noticed him too. Their eyes met across the room, and her heart raced, her cheeks flushing again. David's handsomeness left her in awe, as if time had stopped in that moment.

"Come on, sit here!" Kerena's friends called out, making the atmosphere even more lively.

David's gaze remained on Kerena, thinking to himself that perhaps this was the charm of youth.

The surrounding noise faded away, leaving only her image clear in his mind. But David couldn't tell if the image was of Kerena or Sophia.

"What are you thinking about?" Alexander interrupted his thoughts with a smile.

"Nothing, just thinking this bar has a nice vibe," David replied with a slight smile. "We should come here more often."

Alexander followed David's gaze to Kerena, a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

Was David thinking of Sophia when he looked at Kerena? Or did he just have a thing for girls like her?
