Chapter 272 Calling the Police
David smirked, a cold glint in his eyes, as he fearlessly stepped forward.
Alexander and Lucas watched anxiously from the side, silently worrying for David.
"You really think you can touch me?" David taunted Evan.
Evan's rage peaked at that moment, and he raised the beer bottle high, ready to unleash all his anger on David.
But just as he was about to swing the bottle, David moved like lightning, precisely grabbing Evan's wrist with a strength that stopped him cold.
David's eyes flashed with authority, warning the impulsive man with just a look.
The atmosphere around them froze instantly, everyone holding their breath. Evan's friends began to feel uneasy, realizing things might spiral out of control. David's presence was like a towering mountain, pressing down on them.
"Let go!" Evan roared, trying to break free, but David's grip was like an iron vice, leaving him no escape.
David forcefully threw Evan to the ground. Evan clutched his stomach in pain, his face twisted with anger and frustration.
"You'll pay for this! I'm calling the cops!" he snarled, pulling out his phone to dial 911.
"Go ahead," David replied coldly, unfazed, as he made a call of his own.
Soon, the police arrived at the bar, quickly surrounding the scene. The lead officer was Evan's brother-in-law, who approached with a disdainful look at David.
Another rich playboy, he thought, ready to make a quick buck today.
Just as the officer pulled out his handcuffs, the police chief's car screeched to a halt outside the bar. The chief hurried over, his face filled with anxiety and unease.
His eyes lingered on David, a hint of fear in his expression.
"What happened here?" the chief asked urgently, his voice trembling slightly. He clearly knew who David was and felt a pang of dread.
Evan and his brother-in-law, oblivious to the chief's concern, thought he was there to back them up, growing even more arrogant.
"Sir, he attacked me!" Evan shouted, pointing at David.
The chief frowned slightly, turning to David with a respectful tone, "Mr. Jones, I apologize for this incident. Please don't take it to heart. I'll handle it."
"Fine, I'll give you this chance," David replied coldly, his eyes filled with disdain.
His meaning was clear: he wanted to see how the chief would handle it.
The chief's face changed slightly, feeling the weight of David's authority. He lowered his head, his tone humble, "I'll take them away immediately. Please don't be angry."
Evan wanted to protest, but the chief's stern look silenced him. The chief turned to the officers, "Causing a disturbance in a public place and wasting police resources—cuff them and take them away!"
The officers exchanged nervous glances, their earlier bravado replaced by trembling legs.
Especially Evan's brother-in-law, who had come to back Evan up, only to find himself in trouble.
Who would have thought they'd run into the real David?
He was in deep trouble because of Evan!
Evan, his friends, and his brother-in-law were quickly taken away.
"Mr. Jones, I'm truly sorry for the trouble," the chief said quietly, his tone respectful and fearful.
"I hope this doesn't happen again," David said indifferently.
What a boring night, he thought.
Seeing that David wasn't pursuing the matter further, the chief nodded repeatedly, relieved, and quickly left with his men. How he would deal with them back at the station was no longer David's concern.
After the commotion, the bar returned to its usual calm. David felt more irritated, and Lucas, who had been caught up in the mess, finally had a moment of peace. The three of them had the server clean up their booth and continued drinking.
As the bar's atmosphere gradually returned to normal, customers resumed their quiet conversations, and the music played softly, as if the earlier conflict had never happened. Lucas, Alexander, and David returned to their booth, trying to shake off the tension.
"What a night," Alexander said with a wry smile, raising his glass to lighten the mood.
"Yeah, didn't expect that," Lucas replied, still a bit uneasy.
Just then, the bar door swung open, and a striking woman walked in. She wore a sleek black leather jacket, her short hair sharp and her presence commanding, instantly drawing everyone's attention. She scanned the bar, her eyes locking on Lucas.
"Lucas!" Her voice was clear and firm, like a blade piercing Lucas's heart.
Seeing her, Lucas's face turned pale with fear.
His sister, Esme Harris, was here.
Had their grandfather, Kyle Harris, sent her to bring him home? Did that mean Kyle knew about the incident at his club?
No way!
He couldn't go back!
If Kyle found out about the death at his club, Lucas would be done for! He'd never be allowed out again!
"Alexander, help me, I can't go back!" he whispered urgently.
Sensing Lucas's panic, Alexander stood up, blocking Esme's path with a slight smile, "What do you need him for?"
"Alexander, right? Step aside. This is a family matter," Esme said firmly, her eyes sharp as an eagle's, fixed on Alexander.
"He's had too much to drink and feels dizzy. Can we talk later?" Alexander tried to stall.
"I don't care how drunk he is. He's coming home tonight!" Esme's voice was impatient, clearly not willing to let Lucas off easily.
At that moment, Lucas decided to make a run for it. He signaled to David and Alexander, who understood immediately, giving him a chance to escape.
"I feel sick, need to puke," Lucas pretended to be drunk, quickly standing and heading for the back door.
"Where are you going?" Esme noticed something was off and turned to follow, but Alexander blocked her path.
