Chapter 271 Infidelity
"You jerk!"
Lucas looked up to see a tall man, with eyes as sharp as an eagle's, glaring directly at him and Clara. His face was twisted with rage, and he radiated a fierce hostility.
With a roar, the man, Evan Cole, charged at Lucas, throwing a punch that landed squarely on Lucas's face. Taken by surprise, Lucas staggered back, his face instantly stinging with pain.
"Who the hell are you?" Lucas asked, bewildered, clutching his face. He had no idea what he had gotten himself into. Clara, standing beside him, was equally stunned, her face turning pale.
"Don't play dumb!" Evan's voice trembled with fury as he pointed at Clara. "How dare you mess around with this guy! I'm so disappointed in you!"
"Wait! It's not what you think!" Clara hurriedly tried to explain, reaching out to grab Evan's hand, but he shoved her away, his eyes still locked on Lucas.
"Come here!" Evan shouted, clearly intending to drag Lucas away, likely to the police station. The bar's patrons turned to watch, the atmosphere growing tense and awkward.
"I really don't know what's going on!" Lucas protested, his mind in a whirl. He had no idea he had become Evan's scapegoat; he just wanted to enjoy a romantic evening with Clara.
"Don't think you can escape!" Evan yelled, advancing on Lucas, his eyes blazing with anger. Lucas's heart pounded as he realized the gravity of the situation and tried to back away, attempting to explain.
"I have nothing to do with her! We were just dancing!" Lucas pleaded, inwardly cursing the misunderstanding.
"Dancing? Your moves didn't look like dancing!" Evan sneered, his eyes full of contempt. "Do you think I'll believe a word you say?"
At that moment, the bar's security noticed the commotion and quickly approached, trying to defuse the situation. One of the guards stepped in front of Evan, speaking firmly, "Please calm down, sir. This is a bar, not a place for fighting."
"I don't care! This jerk is hitting on my wife, and I'm taking him with me!" Evan retorted angrily.
Evan lunged forward, trying to grab Lucas. As he reached out to seize Lucas's arm, the security guard intervened, pulling Evan away.
But Evan had lost all reason. He swung a punch at the guard, hitting him hard in the face. The guard stumbled back and fell to the ground, eliciting gasps from the surrounding patrons. The tension in the bar escalated.
"Everyone, get out of my way!" Evan roared, continuing to pull at Lucas, his eyes burning with rage. Lucas panicked, struggling to break free, but Evan's strength was overwhelming.
Just then, David and Alexander rushed over from their booth. Seeing Lucas surrounded, they didn't hesitate. David kicked Evan in the side, while Alexander struck his leg from the other side. Evan, caught off guard by the sudden attack, fell to the ground in pain.
"Are you okay?" David asked, quickly pulling Lucas behind him to protect him.
"I'm fine, but he..." Lucas pointed at the fallen Evan, still confused and shaken.
Evan, however, wasn't done. He roared in anger, struggling to get up, his eyes filled with hatred.
"You jerks! Just wait, I'll get my friends to teach you a lesson!" he snarled, clearly not ready to let them off easily.
Soon, several of Evan's friends arrived from the other side of the bar, quickly surrounding David, Alexander, and Lucas. The situation grew even more tense, but the three men remained calm.
"How dare you mess with someone else's wife!" Evan's friends shouted, their eyes gleaming with aggression, ready to fight.
"What do you want?" David asked coldly.
"Your friend hit on my wife, so he has to pay!" Evan demanded, his eyes full of menace. "Or I'll call the cops and ruin your reputation!"
David and Alexander exchanged a knowing glance, realizing Evan was trying to extort them.
"You better think carefully. I'm not letting you off easy today!"
Evan declared his intent. His friends closed in, forming a threatening circle, the tension in the air palpable.
David and Alexander, though outnumbered, remained unfazed.
"David, where are your bodyguards?" Lucas asked, looking around.
He knew David could handle himself, but with so many opponents, they needed backup.
David tilted his head slightly, raising an eyebrow, and whispered to Lucas, "I've never encountered something like this. Let's see what they want."
Alexander nodded, feeling a surge of irritation. These guys had picked the wrong fight.
Evan's friends, armed with various weapons, surrounded Alexander, David, and Lucas, the atmosphere taut with tension. The bar's patrons retreated, not wanting to get caught in the conflict. The noise of the bar faded, replaced by a heavy, anxious silence.
David's bodyguards watched the situation closely, ready to step in and protect their boss.
But David signaled them to stay back. He wanted to handle this himself, perhaps to vent some of his own frustration.
"I'll take care of this," David said quietly to Alexander and Lucas, his tone leaving no room for argument.
At that moment, Evan's friends recognized David. They whispered among themselves, "Do you know who he is? That's David, the head of the Jones family!"
"David?" Evan hesitated, a flicker of doubt in his eyes, but his anger quickly took over. He refused to back down. "David wouldn't be here without bodyguards! The head of the Jones family in a place like this? You must be mistaken!"
"No way!" Evan's friends tried to reason with him. "Don't be rash. David is not someone to mess with. Let's go!"
But Evan's rage had consumed him. He grabbed a bottle and charged at David, his eyes wild with fury.
"Stop right there!" he shouted, the bottle glinting menacingly in the light, ready to strike David.
