Chapter 263 Candid Photography
As soon as they stepped into Disneyland, the sweet scent of cotton candy filled the air. Daisy had heard her classmates rave about Disneyland, but she had never been there herself. She knew Wesley and Alison were older, not in the best health, and always swamped with work, so they couldn't take her to amusement parks. She never asked them to.
But now, Sophia and David had brought her to Disneyland, and she was over the moon!
"Look, there's Mickey!" Daisy squealed, jumping up and down with excitement. She clung tightly to Sophia's hand and pulled her forward, like a little bird flying towards freedom.
Sophia caught Daisy's enthusiasm and quickened her pace.
"Let's go take a picture with Mickey!"
David trailed behind them. Though his face remained stoic, there was a gentle look in his eyes. He silently watched their every move and unconsciously sped up to keep pace with them.
"David, you take our picture!"
"Sure thing."
Next to Mickey, Daisy struck all sorts of cute poses while Sophia smiled and played along. David focused on capturing every moment with his phone.
In the photos, Daisy's bright smile and Sophia's lively movements were perfectly captured. Each click of the shutter recorded their happiness.
"Look over here."
David called out, and Daisy immediately flashed a big, adorable smile.
After the photos, Daisy pulled Sophia towards the roller coaster. Sophia naturally went along, her face full of doting smiles as she looked at Daisy. David stood to the side, captivated by Sophia's smile, which was as warm as sunshine. He couldn't help but want to capture the moment.
When Sophia wasn't looking, he quietly took out his phone, adjusted the angle, and snapped a picture, freezing her beauty in that instant.
By then, Daisy and Sophia had already decided where to go next. Daisy excitedly ran over to David.
"David, David, I want to see the pictures you took!"
David smiled helplessly and opened his phone's gallery, showing her the photos he had just taken. On the screen, Sophia beamed like sunshine, while Daisy bounced excitedly next to her, with Mickey looking adorably squished between them.
"David, you take such great pictures!"
Daisy exclaimed excitedly, holding David's phone. Her finger accidentally swiped across the screen, revealing the candid photo David had taken.
"This picture... David, when did you take this? In this one..."
Before Daisy could finish her sentence, David covered her mouth and made a shushing gesture.
"Shh, don't let Sophia know. It's our little secret, okay?"
Kids Daisy's age loved sharing secrets, so she nodded eagerly.
Sophia noticed them whispering and leaned over, trying to see the photos on David's phone. But David quickly snatched it away.
"You're so stingy, not even letting me see a picture," Sophia teased.
Just then, a couple hurried past them, the girl pulling the boy's hand, looking quite anxious.
"Hurry up, the show is about to start. Today's theme is Elsa, and I have to see it!"
Elsa?
Daisy's eyes lit up. She wanted to see the Elsa show too!
David checked the time. The show was about to start, and with Daisy's short legs, there was no way they'd make it in time. So, he let Daisy ride on his shoulders, held Sophia's hand, and quickly headed towards the theater.
Both Sophia and David were in good shape, and they soon caught up with the couple. The girl looked at them enviously and said, "What a happy family of three. We should bring our kids to Disneyland someday too."
The girl's voice wasn't low, and both David and Sophia heard it clearly. Sophia lowered her head, lost in thought, while David's lips curled into a smile.
They arrived just in time. As soon as they sat down, the show began.
With the music playing, the stage lights gradually brightened, and the actors started their performance. Daisy watched the stage intently, occasionally letting out exclamations of wonder.
Halfway through the show, David leaned over to Sophia and whispered, "The stage design of this play is really interesting. The multi-layered backgrounds effectively enhance the story's depth."
Sophia nodded, her eyes shining with agreement. "Yes, the set and lighting changes are excellent, creating different atmospheres. Especially when the main character transitions, the lighting changes convey the emotional shifts."
David continued, "And the actors' performances are spot on, especially their body language and facial expressions, which convey the characters' inner emotions. A stage play isn't just about the dialogue; it's about conveying emotions through actions and expressions to move the audience."
Sophia smiled, appreciating David's insight. "You're right. The charm of a stage play lies in its comprehensive nature. The combination of music, dance, acting, and visual effects immerses the audience in the story, making them feel the characters' joys and sorrows."
Daisy listened, fascinated by their discussion. She looked up and asked, "Why do they use stage plays to tell stories?"
David turned to Daisy, his tone gentle. "Stage plays are an ancient and unique art form. They allow the audience to feel the story's reality and the live atmosphere through live performances. Unlike movies, stage plays are live, and each performance is unique, creating a special connection with the audience."
Sophia added, "And the interaction in stage plays is strong. The audience's reactions directly influence the actors' performances, making each show vibrant and full of life."
Daisy listened intently, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "I want to be an actor too! I want to perform on stage!"
Sophia smiled and encouraged her, "Then you need to practice a lot. Stage acting requires a lot of effort and passion."
After saying that, Sophia looked at David.
"I didn't expect you, a businessman, to know so much about stage plays."
"The charm of stage plays lies in their immediacy and interactivity. The emotional connection between actors and the audience is unique. Whether as an audience member or a participant, feeling that genuine emotion is a kind of happiness."
At that moment, Sophia felt a sense of camaraderie with David. Despite his stern exterior, he had a rich inner world and a love for the arts. This resonance made her feel closer to him, seeing in him a reflection of her own pursuit of life and art.
It turned out they had so much in common.
But in the past, David had never taken the time to get to know her.
David felt a pang of regret.
"There are many things you don't know about me. Would you like to get to know me better?"
