Chapter 262 Amusement Park
Sunlight streamed through the window, casting dappled shadows on the floor. The light danced between them, reflecting the gentle glow in David's eyes.
It seemed like he wanted to finally express the feelings he had been holding back for so long to Sophia.
"Sophia," David called softly, with a hint of longing. He leaned forward slightly, trying to close the distance between them. The air was thick with his anticipation.
Sophia's heart began to race. Faced with David's tender gaze, she felt a mix of warmth and nervousness.
But in that moment of deep connection, she hesitated, a swirl of complex emotions rising within her.
What was David up to now? Did he enjoy toying with her so much? Sophia didn't want to get caught up in this emotional whirlwind again. She quickly took a step back, breaking the intimate atmosphere, and said firmly, "David, stay away from me."
The undeniable coldness instantly filled the space between them. A flicker of disappointment crossed David's eyes, but he didn't back down. Instead, he looked at Sophia even more intently.
"Why? Do you not love me anymore?"
Sophia was at a loss for words in the face of David's blunt question. She knew she still loved him deep down, but she couldn't admit it, nor could she deny it. She just snapped at him, "Stay away from me. Don't come near me unless it's necessary."
Sophia made a feint to one side, trying to slip past David. As David moved to block her, she quickly changed direction and darted to the other side.
Taking advantage of the moment, she gracefully slipped past him.
David was momentarily stunned, a look of surprise flashing in his eyes, but he was soon captivated by her agility. Sophia's figure flitted past him, leaving a faint scent in the air.
Her long hair swayed gently as she turned, like rippling water, capturing David's heart.
"Sophia."
David couldn't help but want to stop her, but Sophia was already heading towards the stairs. She ran up a few steps and turned back to look at David, a playful smile on her face.
As her figure gradually disappeared around the corner, a wave of complex emotions surged in David's heart. Now that Emily was gone, could he and Sophia ever go back to the way things were?
Upstairs, Daisy was still sound asleep in her room. Her chubby little cheeks were so adorable, you couldn't help but want to give them a gentle squeeze.
Sophia walked quietly to her bed, leaned down, and gently called, "Daisy, time to get up."
Daisy groggily turned over, mumbling, "Just five more minutes."
Her voice was soft and a bit reluctant.
Sophia couldn't help but smile and said mysteriously, "Daisy, we're going to the amusement park today."
Daisy's eyes instantly flew open, all traces of sleep gone. She sat up quickly, as if electrified.
"The amusement park? Really? Sophia, are you taking me to the amusement park?"
"Of course it's true. Hurry up and get ready, we're leaving soon."
Daisy immediately jumped out of bed, bustling around like a little bunny. She quickly got dressed, brushed her hair, and even twirled in front of the mirror a few times. Then she grabbed her little backpack and ran to the kitchen to fill it with her favorite snacks.
Daisy moved so fast that it took her less than five minutes to get ready. Alison watched with a smile, playfully tweaking Daisy's nose, "You little lazybones, it usually takes you half an hour to get up, but today you're so quick!"
"That's because I don't want to miss the amusement park!" Daisy exclaimed, grabbing Sophia's hand with one hand and David's with the other.
"Alright, Sophia, David, let's go! I want to ride the roller coaster, bumper cars, and the carousel," Daisy said excitedly.
Sophia, however, looked at David with some hesitation. "Daisy, do we have to bring him along?"
"Yes," Daisy blinked her big eyes and then whispered to Sophia, "Sophia, David is really pitiful. He's never been to an amusement park. Let's take him with us."
Even though Daisy tried to whisper, David still heard her. He didn't say anything, but mimicked Daisy's wide-eyed look at Sophia.
Sophia had never seen David like this before, so she agreed. "Alright, alright, we'll bring David along. But in exchange, David has to cover all the expenses at the amusement park today."
"No problem," Daisy patted her chest, answering for David. Then she remembered her manners and turned to David, tugging on his sleeve cautiously, "David, is that okay?"
"Of course," David replied with a smile.
Daisy jumped up happily, and the three of them got into David's car, holding hands.
Daniel, who was waiting in the car, watched them with a smile. He knew Daisy was Wesley's child, but seeing them now, it felt like David, Sophia, and Daisy were a family.
If David and Sophia could reconcile, their child would surely be as adorable as Daisy.
In high spirits, Daniel asked eagerly, "Mr. Jones, where to?"
"Disneyland."
"Got it!" Daniel's excitement matched Daisy's.
"Do you like Disneyland too?" Daisy asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.
"Yes, yes, I love it! I've been there many times!" Daniel and Daisy chatted happily, with Daisy moving to the front seat to talk about Disneyland with him.
Despite his usually stern demeanor at work, Daniel was having a great time talking about Disneyland with Daisy. Before they even arrived, Daniel and Daisy had become fast friends, even planning their next trip to a magic-themed park.
David could hardly believe his eyes. He never knew his reliable assistant had such a playful side. Who would have thought that before helping David with work, Daniel might have been at home watching cartoons?
This man, who was so decisive in his work, had a home filled with Disney collectibles. "Many of them are limited editions. I'll bring you one next time," Daniel promised.
"Thank you, Daniel. You're the best!" Daisy beamed.
When they got out of the car, Daisy waved to Daniel, "Daniel, bend down for a second."
"What's up?" Daniel crouched down obligingly, and Daisy planted a big kiss on his cheek. Even after David and Sophia had taken Daisy to buy tickets, Daniel remained standing there, touching his cheek with a goofy smile.
David couldn't stand the sight of Daniel. Sophia, however, watched him with admiration in her eyes. "Daniel would make an amazing father someday. He'd be such a wonderful husband too."
"And what about me?" David asked.
"You?" Sophia just gave him a pointed look without answering, letting him draw his own conclusions. A man who had cheated and fathered a child outside his marriage—did he really need to ask if he was a good man?
