Chapter 264: Apology
Sophia smiled warmly at David. Just when David thought she was about to agree, she said, "Not interested."
She paused for a moment and then added, "Give this opportunity to Emily."
"Sophia, my relationship with her isn't what you think..."
David hesitated for a moment, almost ready to spill everything about his relationship with Emily, but before he could finish, Sophia covered his mouth.
"Shut up!"
She didn't want to hear the details of David and Emily's interactions. She could let go, but she wasn't a masochist.
"Let me explain..."
"Explain what? She told you to shut up, didn't she? Can't you understand?"
A guy in the front row couldn't take it anymore. At first, he thought David and Sophia were a perfectly matched couple discussing a play.
But the more he listened, the stranger it got. It turned out the guy was cheating and trying to explain himself. Thankfully, the girl had a clear head and wasn't buying his nonsense.
The guy in the front row was about David's age, but much more muscular, probably one and a half times David's width. He had planned to come to Disneyland with his girlfriend today.
But who would have thought that when he went to pick her up this morning, he found out she was cheating on him? Heartbroken, he broke up with her and didn't know where to go, so he came to Disneyland alone.
Watching the play, he almost forgot about it, but David and Sophia's argument brought it all back.
Why should he suffer while this guy got to date two women? Just because he was good-looking? But he wasn't bad-looking either. Look at his build—so reassuring.
As he thought about it, the guy in the front row looked at David with increasing annoyance. His brows furrowed, and his face showed clear irritation. "Can you keep it down? Have some decency."
Almost no one talked to David like that. He frowned but said nothing. After all, he had been talking, and even though he kept his voice low, it still disturbed others.
He was in the wrong.
"Sorry."
David wasn't one to bully others. If he was wrong, he'd admit it.
"Should you be apologizing to me?"
The guy's question left David confused, and Sophia was also taken aback.
What did he mean? If not him, then who should he apologize to?
The guy quickly clarified, "Apologize to the girl next to you. I can't stand cheaters like you, deceiving girls just because you're handsome."
The guy then turned to Sophia. When he saw her clearly, his jaw dropped. How could David possibly neglect such a stunning girlfriend while fooling around with another woman?
This man must need his head examined.
"Don't worry, as long as I'm here, I won't let him bully you."
"Thank you."
Sophia's sweet voice made the guy feel much better.
Sophia covered her mouth, laughing quietly, while David's face darkened. For the rest of the time, David said nothing. When he looked down at his phone, he saw a message from Sophia.
[That guy meant well. Don't take it out on him.]
David's anger, which had just subsided, flared up again. He typed a message back.
[Do you really think I'm that unreasonable?]
Failed to send.
Right, he forgot Sophia had blocked him. She could message him, but he couldn't message her.
David glared at Sophia, who saw the failed message on his screen and laughed even harder.
Her expression clearly said, "Serves you right."
The play ended shortly after.
As David, Sophia, and Daisy lined up to leave, they ran into the muscular guy again.
He looked at the beautiful Sophia and the lively Daisy, then gave David a disdainful look.
He couldn't even dream of having such a wife and child, yet David had them and didn't appreciate it.
Suppressing his anger, the guy gave David a "you better shape up" look and left, holding the Disney toys he bought.
Daisy tugged on Sophia's sleeve, puzzled.
"Sophia, why did that man look at David so strangely?"
Sophia smiled and patted Daisy's head,
"Good observation, Daisy."
She gave David a challenging look.
Just then, Daisy excitedly pulled David towards the roller coaster. She had heard from her classmates how fun it was and couldn't wait to try it.
"David, Sophia, can we sit together?"
David raised an eyebrow. He had never been on a roller coaster and was looking forward to it, though he didn't say so.
He looked at Sophia calmly.
"Are you up for it?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
But as they reached the entrance and saw the safety instructions, Sophia hesitated.
She had forgotten she was pregnant.
For safety, there was an extra belt that would press tightly against the waist once the ride started.
Sophia instinctively touched her belly. It didn't seem suitable for her now.
Daisy noticed Sophia's movement.
"Sophia, are you feeling sick?"
Daisy was so considerate. Sophia went along with it.
"Yes, my stomach feels a bit off. I need to go to the restroom. Can you go with David?"
"Sure, Sophia. Take care."
David smirked, his eyes full of mockery. Before he could speak, the line moved, and Daisy pulled him onto the roller coaster.
Sophia didn't wait by the ride but actually went to the restroom. She gently touched her slightly rounded belly and whispered, "Baby, when you're born, I'll take you to all the fun places. So, no roller coaster today."
Waiting alone was boring. Sophia remembered the photos David had taken when they entered Disneyland.
Daisy had seen them, but she hadn't.
Sophia couldn't help but wonder what kind of photos someone like David—such a buttoned-up professional who seemed so detached from ordinary life—would actually take.
But she didn't want to ask David for his phone. She'd have to find another way to see the pictures.
