(Devan's POV).
"What do you mean?" Freya's voice sounds shaky, even her body.
"I didn't kill Theo, Freya," I said, honestly. "You've been wrong all along. I could not have killed him. No matter how big my revenge against him is, I can't kill someone."
"You're lying," she sobbed. She stepped back to avoid me. I tried to catch her but she brushed my hand away roughly.
"Freya. I'm not lying. I swear that I didn't kill him!" I exclaimed, trying to make her believe me.
I swear to God I never killed Theo or intended to kill him. Everything happened so quickly and I couldn't even believe what I knew about the truth of Theo's death.
Some time ago, when I was trying to find Freya's whereabouts. I had a big fight with Viona. She didn't give up and did everything she could to keep me away from Freya. Until she slipped up and admitted to her actions that she was the one who had killed Theo.
She ordered someone to kill him and left a letter that Theo had deliberately written under duress. I never thought that Viona would do such a thing just because she wanted to have me.
That fact made me feel even more guilty toward Freya. Even though I didn't kill him, I felt that Theo's death was because of me. Because Viona's obsession with me made her do something extreme.
But I didn't dare tell Freya about this. I was afraid it would cause new wounds in her heart. However, Freya also needed to know the truth behind Theo's death so that she wouldn't continue to assume that I was the killer.
I see the disbelieving gleam in Freya's eyes. It disappoints me a little, but I understand how she feels. After all the things that happened to her, she certainly wouldn't trust my words easily.
"Please believe me. I never even had the thought of killing him, Freya," I told her.
"Can you prove that you didn't kill Theo?" She looks at me sharply.
Should I tell Freya everything? But what if she goes into shock after finding out?
"Would you believe me if I told you everything?"
"Depends on how your attitude looks," she said. She stepped back again when I tried to approach her. And she hit the wall behind her. "And I want to hear everything in detail. I don't want anything to be hidden. I don't even know if what you're talking about is the truth or a lie."
"Alright. I'll tell you everything, but please control yourself," I pleaded.
"Just tell me everything, Dev! What really happened and how Theo died that day!" she shouted with a depressed look on her face.
Damn.
I couldn't bear to see her like that.
"Viona," I said, and then I fell silent. She immediately gave me a piercing look that conveyed shock and pain. "Viona is the one who killed Theo," I said.
"Wh-What? Are you making a joke? What did Viona kill Theo for?! You must be lying, right? You're making up your own story and blaming others for the heinous deeds you've doneー"
"I'm not lying, Freya," I cut her off. I grab both her arms and ask her to stay calm. "And I didn't make up my own story. I found out a while ago. Viona said it herself. She ordered people to kill Theo. But I've asked her to turn herself in to the police to pay for all the acts he's committed in the past."
"No, no. This is impossible. Why would Viona kill Theo? He didn't even do anything wrong to her!" Freya screamed hysterically. Tears are streaming down her red cheeks. Her body trembled violently and I hugged her tightly.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Freya. This is all my fault. I should have ended things with Viona from the start. I didn't expect her love for me to make her lose her mind and do something bad like that," I whispered to her.
I tightened my embrace even more as she rebelled while crying hysterically. My heart ached to hear her cries that sounded like lightning striking. My chest was like a rumble that caused panic that I couldn't control.
"This can't be," she sobbed with her body trembling. I held her limp body, afraid that she would fall to the floor.
"Freya," I called, "Freya?!" I shouted in fear as she suddenly collapsed in my arms.
My face paled when I saw her unconscious. This was my fear from earlier. I shouldn't have told her about this earlier!
"Damn it!"
I immediately carried her into the car and laid her down on the back seat. I drove my car to the hotel I was staying at at full speed.
Some people looked confused as they saw me carrying an unconscious woman. Even in the elevator, a couple kept fixing their gaze on us. But I try to cover Freya's face with the service I put on her body.
Arriving at the hotel room, I immediately lay Freya down on the bed.
"I'm sorry. You must be so shocked and hurt after finding out everything. I promise I will make sure Viona gets the punishment she deserves," I whispered as I kissed the back of her hand.

"Freya, are you awake?" I immediately sat on the bed when I saw that she was awake.
Since a few hours ago, I've been sitting on the sofa near the bed and watching her. Making sure that she was okay. Because you were so worried after seeing her faint.
I helped her sit up and she looked confused.
"You fainted and I took you to the hotel where I'm staying," I told her.
She started crying again, clutching my clothes. I think she's remembering Theo's problems.
"I'm here, Freya. I'm here," I whisper. I gently hugged her. Providing comfort that could make her forget her pain and sadness a little. "I swear Viona will get the punishment she deserves."
