Chapter 30 She’s not special!
Chapter 30 She’s not special!
Lila
I could literally feel my heart beat so fast as I answered the question. I was scared out of my mind when that strange lady stood up and decided to tackle me. Seeing the expression on her face, I could tell she was probably one of the women Daniel has been with in the past.
Well, Daniel is doing this to get out of a scandal I caused, it’s my turn now to make sure another scandal doesn’t happen. I didn’t know what to say or how to start, I just opened my mouth ahd the words started to flow out.
I still wasn’t convinced of my answer so I looked in Daniel’s face and what I saw calm my nerves. He was staring at me in awe and that made me blush. I was happy I was able to make him happy, atleast that should make him forgive me for the scandal.
Once I stopped and leaned back from the mic, the whole hall went loud with applause and cheers. Even I couldn’t believe it because what exactly did I say that impressed them that much.
“That was so amazing,” Daniel leaned over and whispered.
“I’m starting to see you in a new light.” He added and I only smiled, not having enough time to process it.
We stared in each other’s eyes and we just knew it was time to give them another sweet treat to drool over.
I pulled in for a perfonative kiss and he held me close too. We kissed but this time it seemed a bit different. Daniel seemed more into it, he kissed me with passion and it was almost as if he wasn’t putting up an act. It felt so real, and so deep that I got so confused.
When we finally pulled apart and I saw his eyes, it was different but I tried to shake off the feeling.
“He’s just so good at this and I should stop reading meaning into this things. He’s not know to be the notorious playboy just for fun. He is good at it.” I convinced myself and that helped shake off the feeling.
He helped me get off the stage while he went on with his speech. It was a short one but the whole time, his eyes never left mine. He was staring at me throughout and it was so difficult to keep up with the gaze without coming up with pictures in my head.
I didn’t want to look away either as I wasn’t sure if there were cameras on us, and I didn’t want them picking up a harmless moment and then twist it into a big deal. He was finally done and he joined me at the table.
“How did I go?” He whispered and my brows furrowed because that was the first time he’d be asking me that. I’ve followed him to several events where he gave speeches but he never asked of my opinion.
“It’s was so good, I’m sure eveyone enjoyed it.” I replied and he nodded.
I almost screamed because did he just acknowledge my opinion? Same Daniel that I know did that?
There was a short break in which foods and drinks were served. Our table was filled with different delicacies being VIP. I didn’t have that much appetite so I just settled for wine and sipped slowly.
I was still at this when I suddenly looked up and locked eyes with her. That same lady from earlier who asked the question.
She was sitting a few tables from us and had a really nasty look on her face. It was as if she was pained seeing Daniel and I together.
I didn’t want that energy so I quickly looked away but my mind never really left. I was soon back to staring and I saw her gaze never left us. She had probably Bering staring even long before I noticed.
I got uncomfortable and looked away but then looked again. This time, she was no longer looking and not even there again.
“Ohh thank goodness,” I let out with a deep sigh of relief.
“What? Seem like you’re happy about something, want to share?” The voice suddenly asked and it wasn’t Daniel.
It was that familiar voice again and when I looked up, my assumption was confirmed. It was really her.
“Ohh…” I stuttered not knowing what to say.
“Hi, I’m Isabella, I already know who you are, everyone does. It’s nice to meet you finally, Lila.” She chimed in with a smile that screamed fake.
“Hi, Bella, it’s nice to meet you too.” I gently replied and she rolled her eyes.
“Oh no, you can’t call me that. It’s Isabella to you, only my lovers are allowed to call me Bella. Just like dear Daniel did, remember huh?” She added and then turned to Daniel who didn’t even flinch.
And yet again, my assumption was confirmed. She is really one of the women he dated in the past. An ex-girlfriend that’s probably not ready to move on.
“What exactly are you trying to do now? Why do think that information is necessary to my wife? You’re in the past and will always remain there. I’m no longer who you know me to be.” Daniel said sternly and I felt relaxed. Atleast he’s standing up for me, even though I know it’s to save face, he’s still covering for me.
“Really? Ohh please Dan, we both know that’s a lie but it’s okay if you’ve convinced yourself to believe it. I know it’s a lie and you do too. And can you please drop the act already? It’s understandable when you were up there but we are here now so why the drama?” She countered and Daniel’s expression was starting to turn sour.
“You’re disturbing us, can you please leave and stop making my wife uncomfortable?” He said while she rolled her eyes angrily.
“She means nothing of sort to you. Lila is just another one of your broken girls’ collection. That’s all what she is and once you’re done with her, you’re gong to discard her.” She slammed at him while I turned to Daniel, hoping for his defense this time.
“Just like I discarded you right? I guess I didn’t do it right because you wouldn’t be pain in my neck right now if I discarded you properly!” He slammed back at her but that wasn’t what I was expecting.
He managed to numb her but then revealed the dirty truth in the process. I didn’t even know what to think anymore. I just opened my mouth but before I could say a word, I saw Isabella trip and her drink poured on me!
