Chapter 215 Molly Is Taken Away
Chapter 215 Molly Is Taken Away
It took Cecilia a few seconds to realize the person on the other end was Sebastian's mother.
She wanted to hang up, but then heard heart-wrenching sobs from the other side. "Cecilia, I'm begging you, please save Sebastian."
Sebastian had been lying low for a long time since Ethan beat him up.
She had almost forgotten he even existed.
Thinking about what he'd done to her, Cecilia replied coldly, "Sorry, if he's sick, tell him to see a doctor. Coming to me won't help!"
Ruby, afraid she'd hang up, said anxiously, "It will help, Cecilia. You're the only one who can save him now. Otherwise, he's going to kill Brenda and take her down with him!"
Cecilia's heart jumped. Remembering he was Molly's father after all, she asked what happened.
It turned out that day, Ethan didn't just beat Sebastian up—he also had his reproductive organs destroyed.
Given Sebastian's personality, he wouldn't normally let it go, but Ethan had obtained dashcam footage of him kidnapping Cecilia in broad daylight, plus video of him trying to force himself on her in the house.
That wasn't all. If Sebastian tried to press charges, Ethan would expose everything Brenda had done to Cecilia and send her to prison.
Sebastian realized that if he was already ruined and Brenda really went to prison, and something happened to the baby in her belly, it would all be over.
To protect the Hughes Family's only child, he swallowed the humiliation Ethan had dealt him and promised never to appear in front of Cecilia again.
Hearing this, Cecilia finally understood why things had been so peaceful lately—it was all thanks to Ethan.
Before she could respond, Ruby continued, "Sebastian really wanted to make things work with Brenda, but she couldn't behave herself. She did drugs while pregnant, which caused complications. Sebastian got into a huge fight with her. She got so angry she blurted out that the baby wasn't even his."
Cecilia clicked her tongue. Though she'd suspected all along that the baby probably wasn't Sebastian's, she hadn't expected Brenda to use drugs during pregnancy.
Thinking of how skeletal Brenda had looked before, Cecilia felt it was all her own doing.
"That bitch Brenda tried to claim it was a slip of the tongue, but Sebastian didn't believe her. He took her to the hospital for an amniocentesis, and the baby really wasn't his. He was furious and locked her up, saying he'd starve her to death. Cecilia, I'm begging you, come back and talk some sense into Sebastian. If he really kills Brenda, he's finished too!"
"Their fights have nothing to do with me. I suggest you call the police before something irreversible happens."
Cecilia hung up decisively.
Sebastian hated her now—why would he listen to her? This was probably Ruby trying to lure her over so he could get revenge.
She thought that by not seeing Sebastian, he couldn't hurt her, but she underestimated the shamelessness in the Hughes Family's bones.
Near the end of the workday, Cecilia received a call from Seraphina.
Seraphina's panicked, tearful voice came through the phone. "Cecilia, something terrible happened—Sebastian took Molly!"
Molly had changed schools now. Without her authorization, the school wouldn't hand the child over to a stranger.
"Mom, don't panic. I'll go find him right away."
Cecilia hung up, grabbed her coat and ran out, calling Sebastian's number as she went.
At first the phone rang but he didn't answer. Then it went straight to voicemail.
Could Sebastian, knowing he could never have children again, be trying to take Molly?
Thinking of Molly being frightened by that lunatic Sebastian right now, Cecilia was both anxious and furious, wishing she could kill him.
Unable to reach Sebastian, Cecilia drove straight to the Hughes Family residence.
Just as she pulled out, she tried contacting Ethan for help, but his phone was also off.
Ethan was always unreachable at critical moments.
With no choice, she called Gavin.
When he answered, she asked urgently, "Can you reach Ethan? I have an emergency."
"What happened?" Gavin also sounded worried.
"Sebastian took Molly. He won't answer his phone. I'm driving to find him now. If you reach Ethan, tell him to help me find her."
"He should be on a plane back to River City. Ms. Nelson, don't panic. I'll help you search right away. Let's stay in touch!"
Thinking of Gavin's capabilities, Cecilia didn't worry about his identity—she'd use his help first. "Okay, please hurry!"
Sebastian was a lunatic. She worried he might hurt Molly.
"Alright, wait for my news!"
Cecilia arrived at the Hughes Family's old house. When Ruby saw her, her wrinkled face lit up with joy. "Cecilia, I knew you still had feelings for Sebastian. You can't bear to see him ruined by that bitch Brenda for life."
"Where's Sebastian?" Cecilia didn't waste words with her. She rushed inside and searched around, finally stopping at a locked door.
"He went out. Wait, I'll call him to come back right away."
Unsurprisingly, when Ruby called, Sebastian's phone was still off.
"Open this room!" Cecilia didn't trust Ruby's words, her tone sharp with command.
"I don't have the key. Sebastian has it. He won't let me release Brenda."
So Sebastian really had locked Brenda up?
Cecilia clicked her tongue. Thinking of Molly, she asked Ruby seriously again, "Are you sure he hasn't come back?"
Though Ruby didn't understand why she was asking, she nodded honestly. "I saw him leave with my own eyes. Cecilia, what's wrong?"
"He took Molly!" Cecilia replied and turned to leave.
Since no one was here, she'd search elsewhere.
After Molly left the Hughes Family, it had taken so much effort for her to return to her lively self. Cecilia didn't want all that effort wasted.
That bastard Sebastian—if he had any conscience at all, he shouldn't use Molly to threaten her.
As soon as Cecilia got back in her car, Gavin called. She answered immediately. "Well? Did you find anything?"
"Someone spotted Sebastian at an amusement park. We're checking the surveillance now."
"Good!" Cecilia replied, hung up, and floored the gas pedal toward the amusement park.
However, by the time she rushed there, Gavin had reviewed the footage. "Ms. Nelson, he did take Molly to the amusement park, but they left half an hour ago."
Cecilia checked the time. Molly got out of school at 5 PM. She'd gone from the office to the Hughes Family house and then chased here—it was now 7 PM.
"Where did they go after leaving?"
She had to find Molly quickly.
Molly loved the amusement park rides so much, yet after going in, she'd left in less than an hour.
