Chapter 60-The Escape
Gael and I walked away from the hospital after conversing with my doctor. I can still feel shiver from my body as I recall that lewd moment. Gael said he'll get me out of here. He agreed to my decision and immediately knew what he needed to do. Gael must be sane right now that he understands what it takes to comfort me. "Hmm.. you're telling me you're in an urgent state? You have to what?" Yelena asked me with her eyes wide open.
I laughed a little as I remember how shocked she was. It took me a lot of time to see her off and find her place. I don't know, and I felt like she was hiding somewhere about a while ago that it took us almost half an hour to roam around this huge infirmary so that we could get her approval. "Yeah. I am alright. I knew you were worried sick that I might have been ill. However, there's no need for you to be like that. Besides, it would help if you were happy that I am going away now. Look, you'll have no pain in the butt," I said and laughed at her.
Yelena massaged her forehead and stood up from her seat. Gael placed her left palm on my shoulders as he looked at me and smiled. It was comforting, at least I felt like I was doing the right thing. Technically, I had no other choice to begin with. Right thing? What exactly is the right thing? Is it me doing exactly what Cassius did? I cheated just because I saw her mate kissing another woman? Wow, how ironic. Talk about hypocrisy.
"Well then, I guess I can't stop you?" Yelena said and held some papers that, I guess, were important to her. Maybe, it contained all the data that her patients possess. Hmm.. should I roam around it? Just kidding! I have nothing to do with it anyway. "Okay then, here's your medicine," Yelena gave the medicine to me and handed it out to my hand. "Here's the painkiller for your neck. I knew it would give you a hard time, and I swear, at some point, it will feel the worst of them all. Do not move freely and too much; it will trigger the cut. Moreover, you will collapse. Do not hesitate to go back, okay? In case you feel like you are dying, just consult me," she said, making it appear like I would soon hang on to a small piece of thread.
I gladly accepted the offer and nodded, agreeing with her. Well, I knew my condition myself. Actually, I may look like I am no longer suffering but. I am. Not only physically but emotionally as well. "Also, here's your medication for the baby," Yelena said and grabbed something from the drawer, making Gael instantly furious.
"You— You're pregnant?" Gael shouted and looked at me very seriously. I was intimidated by his stare, and he was scary. It was like he was ready to give it all right now after he heard that I was carrying a child in my womb. His eyes were furious, and his body movement said so. My current situation too stressed me, and yet, I didn't know how to explain to him that I was going to be a mom soon.
I felt like he wouldn't be able to swallow that fact. He'll probably gaslight himself into thinking that I was only joking, even though he knew there was a huge possibility of me being pregnant. He said it himself before; he even affirmed it. He knew I was no longer a virgin, so I don't really get why he was acting shocked right now. He knew my situation well; he predicted it. For God's sake, what is wrong with him? He held my stomach and caressed it gently. I knew he was a bit taken away by the news, but he took his time holding me as if he was nursing the baby in my womb.
"All along, I thought I was wrong. I was only joking when I told you you were pregnant, and I certainly did not expect to hear the news this early. Look, Raya, I am sure you know who's the father of the kid. I am sure you're not that naïve to not even know who you share your bed with. Who the hell was it? Is he going to take this child as his? Is he going to give you the money to raise this? How about dimes?" he asked worriedly.
Now, he looked more like a father to this kid. He was making sure everything would work out for me, and I wanted to take him as mine. I would rather spend all my life with him and with my child than deceive myself with that foolish love and stay with Cassius, who already cheated me. I am not that stupid. Gael was gentle about it. He made sure I was okay. He let go of my stomach and got the medicine out of Yelena’s hands. He did it instead of me, which makes me think that he wanted to stand as the father of the child instead of just being an uncle. Right, just right. No one would take me in after this anyway, and they'll all probably think that I am deceitful.
A cheating mate who knows nothing but to run to them when I happen to bear a child. It is only right that Gael would take care of me; I can freely feel comfortable with him. I don't have to act like someone I am not and something that would cause war through multiple people—I can finally be free. Free of pain, stress, depression, anxiety, and physical abuse. I can finally have my freedom! I no longer have to hide, be betrayed by my supposed friends, or get along well with traitors; all I have to think about now is my own life. My life and my family-to-be. "Are you sure you're going to be okay, Raya? You should tell me now so I would know if I would allow this or not. After all, Cassius is your mate. If you would go away, doesn't he have to know? Especially when you look like you're going away with your guy friend?" Yelena took her time pausing her words. Well, she is right. I shouldn't escape this scene with someone I only call a friend. This would spark a controversy that I was cheating and that I was a traitor to the pack. Kairo took me in, thinking I could be his Luna, but I escaped and ran far from them. What would everyone think? No... I shouldn't care about what people would say.
If I start caring for my reputation, then I won't be able to run away. I will be stuck here forever with these stupid people and a cruel past, and I don't want that. I want to live.. away from the fighting. I smiled and held Gael’s hands, announcing that I didn't care.
"Yeah, I'm sure. You know what? Tell your Cassius that I don't care about him. I would love to die instead of living with him and this bite?" I stopped and pointed at this bite on my neck. "This means nothing to me now. I don't care if he's my mate; screw him and his bad habits. Tell him I am holding a grudge against him, tell him I don't love him, tell him I have never even loved him, and tell him I would rather marry his brother than wake up with him every morning thinking about that lewd scene; I hate him," I said and felt like I had just let out a twenty-four decades age grudge against Yelena. Yelena blinked twice in disbelief.
She looked like she had heard something she shouldn't be aware of. She was left with her jaw dropped on the floor, and her eyes widened; it was funny. Well, I never even thought of saying this to her. I never even considered talking about my grudge and sad life to people other than Gael. This is the first time. "O-ohh," she said and sighed. "I didn't know that," she uttered and laughed awkwardly, taking her gaze away from me and Gael.
I sighed deeply as I gathered the courage to lengthen my words. Hmmm.. this is much harder than I thought. "Now, if you would allow us, we would like to get going now as we will have to find our own way back home. We have to prepare everything instead of chitchatting with you here, especially now that I can sense someone going this way. Maybe you have your own patient?" I said as small curls crept out my mouth. "We'll take our leave now, and I'll let you know when I need something. Don't worry; I'm going to be fine. I'll pay you a visit someday when this kid turns out to grow a lot bigger and greater. Tell your son to take care of himself and his sister. Yelena, you've been a good doctor, and I admire you," I smiled and greeted her.
The compliment seemed to go to her heart. She smiled greatly at us and bid us goodbye. She sat back in her chair, not wanting to see us off, so I just smiled back and turned my back, never looking behind again. Gael opened the door for me, and seriously, a huge wind brushed me off. "Raya? Where are you going?" Eloise asked worriedly. Can you believe the audacity she has? She has the nerve to ask me where I was going. Really? Right now?
"Gael? Wait, you're not going to snatch her off of me, right?" Eloise asked and laughed like crazy at me. She doesn’t look like the old pretty woman; I am annoyed. Her voice deeply irritates me; her features no longer make me want to flatter her. The old her was gone, the one I trusted the most. All I saw was her true disgusting form that I would always loathe. I hate her, how dare she make out with Cassius when she fully knows that I was his mate? Eloise, you'll have your own time someday. I promise to get back at you and make you pay for the suffering you have caused me. I promise to make you suffer the same way I did and make you cry yourself out, just like you deserve. This is not the last time that we'll see each other. This is just the beginning of my supposed-to-be revenge, you and Cassius will both go to hell. Burn in the fire pit of hell. Turn to ashes and beg me to spare you, that is the cruelest I could offer. Damn, that’s so dark, I need to calm down.
"Yeah? What if he took me out of this stupid cell? What would you do? Are you going to sneak to Cassius and tell him I am cheating? Will you?" I asked and provoked her. Gael seemed confused right now, getting caught between me and Eloise. Hmm.. maybe I should tell him how this disgusting woman managed to kiss my man? "Huh? What do you mean? Are you alright?" Eloise asked, looking the other way.
"Don't make me repeat myself, and I am afraid you'll not like the next turn. Eloise, don't act so stupid; I know you are smarter than that. You don't get to make a fool out of me, okay?" I snickered and patted her back. "What the— what did I even do? Why are you acting so weirdly right now?" she said as if she didn't know what was happening to me.
As if she didn’t know why I was behaving this way. Yes, act like that, and we'll have good things to talk about. "You don't know what you did? Well... you should find out yourself," I walked three steps to her and whispered, "Your lipstick was smudged. You look like you just bit someone. Do you want me to wipe it for you?" I smiled and moved away. I was surprised to see her panicking as she wiped it herself. It was funny because she didn't have any streaks right now.
Well, serves her right. She needs to feel the tension. Gael and I left the place and made sure Eloise would overthink everything. Right now, she's probably thinking that I have an ounce of a clue about what happened between him and Cassius, and were probably regretting everything. She just lost me., she had no one to lean on.
The Luna? Well.. she will betray her someday. You want to know what? Yereah managed to become a traitor to me even though she knew my intentions were pure. She will undoubtedly do it again, and I am prepared to witness that happening.
"Hey, what happened between you and Eloise? You two seemed to be pretty close earlier, what triggered the fighting?" Gael asked me curiously while helping me stand out. I sighed and smiled because I knew I didn't need to explain anything. "Hmmm? Well. Eloise and I always have been like that. Making fun of each other, it's a habit. You don't have to say your thoughts and observations out loud because there is nothing clearly wrong. Now, don't stress yourself out. We'll leave anyway," I said and tried reaching his hair to mess it up. "Hmm.. well, if you say so. I felt like I have no right to object anyway, so I guess I'll just buy that. Moreover, you're not going to bid her your farewell? Who knows if you two will ever cross paths again and see each other?" he said, making a point.
Right, who knows? Well, I never want to see her anyway, so that doesn't seem to be a problem to me. He doesn't need to care about it since Eloise isn't important anymore. What I should be doing now was pursuing my way out. "Never mind, I am not fond of goodbyes. If you want, you can say to her face that you are going to leave. There's no problem with that. Also, you can explain to her the situation so she would spread the word?" I said and presented him with some options.
Luckily, he just stayed silent instead of talking almost all the time. He just carried me by his arms and made sure I was safe. Not troublesome and not bothersome either. We reached the hallway and saw the exit door. There I sensed a great fresh air that I badly wanted to smell before. The nostalgia came rushing to my heart, and I loved it all. Oh God, something I would never get tired of having in my nose. I am ready to leave it all.. the name, title, reputation, everything. I don't need to stay in a situation where I am being taken advantage of, where I am being hurt, where I am suffering.
If I could have peace by leaving, I would gladly do so. Without hesitation, I went to the old room where Cassius and I used to stay. Every single part of the room reminds me of him. In each corner, I could always see his almost perfect face in front of my eyes. I can see his perfect pupils staring into mine, and I can sense his touch as if he was here.
All of the memories left in here gave me pain, something I can't take back. It was not bearable. It gave a strong ache to my chest, and the piercing feeling was too bothersome. It was sharp and long-lasting. It left a scar on me, and I am too broken right now. I took off some bags to put all my stuff. Clothes, dresses, every single one of my things. I have to leave now than to stay here, and I have no choice. I pack them all one by one with tears in my eyes. I can't leave. The heavy feeling was overwhelming, and it was eating me alive. I can't move my hand, and my feet won't bother to try. The sensation of being left here, the misunderstanding, I am imagining how painful it would be for Cassius. Even though he hurt me.. he is still someone who has feelings. The pain will still bother him as much as it bothers me. I turned my back on the room, not wanting to face it once again. "Are you ready? You can't go with me knowing yourself that you don't want this to be pursued. Raya, think about it," Gael asked me and made sure I wasn't bluffing. This is not my hormonal imbalance at all, and I really want to leave.
However, would I take it if I had the chance to come back and see him for the first time again? Probably no. "Yeah, I am sure. Don't worry about a thing, and I won't back down. Don't stress yourself too much, Gael. This will be my last and final decision. Aren't you proud that I am able to make a wise decision for myself now? I am growing up," I screamed and giggled as if I achieved something great. "Of course, I am proud. But as part of you is being matured now. You are also exposed to pain and cruel stuff," he said, leaving an ohh expression on my face. “Whatever, you knew a lot,” I laughed and got out. I locked the door now and made sure no one would approach us here. Gael and I would climb up the thick wall of this huge place. We will be able to go out of this place by doing so, but the risk was high. My being pregnant would slow us down, and Gael will have to look out for me a lot of times.
“Will you be able to take it?” Gael asked me. We decided he’ll climb up first and make sure to lift me up next. Then, he'll carry me down on the other side. “Yes, of course,” I shouted. I watched him climb and reach the highest part of the wall that divided the outer world from us.
I threw our valuable things to him, and he also threw them to the other side. Just as before I could climb, I heard noises. I sensed multiple energies coming to us. “Shit! You hear that?” I asked him from the down, almost whispering. “What?” he whispered as well. Seemed like he couldn’t understand a thing.
We were doomed.
