Chapter 61 - Raya is Poison
What year was it right now? I guess the following year was the cruelest that had happened to me. I lost a lot, a home to call my sanctuary and a safe place that was supposed to cater to my need; I lost the guy that made me feel like the happiest person in this world. I even remember getting chills down my spine that I would die when Gael and I first escaped the pack's place.
I remember getting caught between the mess of whether I should stay and face the consequences or force myself up so Gael and I could run away.
"What should I do?" I shouted at the top of my lungs as the energy coming our way gradually increased. It was so stressful, yet I only wanted to hide from my problems. Nothing more and nothing less. Gael seemed to be sensing the energy right now, too; it took him a while to open his palms for me.
"Here, climb now and take my hand. Be careful, and the child needs to be safe at the end of the day," he ordered me around to make sure my baby and I would survive in my womb. I tried putting my claws on the wall to lift myself up. The energy was getting stronger, which means, they must have sensed me as well in here. They were undoubtedly thinking that two people were trying to escape. I climbed up, but my back pain was killing me. The sore feeling was too much to handle, and it was as if it was stabbing me behind. I took Gael's hand as soon as I reached the top of the wall and sat on it.
Luckily, the upper part was a flat surface which allowed me to take a bit of rest. Gael jumped down the other side of the wall so he could catch me. Before I could drop myself down, I saw a man running there. I immediately jumped and covered my mouth so I won't make a noise. Gael caught me pretty quickly, and we both landed safely. I took the bag and other things out of the place and stopped sensing things. Do.. this wall separate the two worlds?
"Let's get out of here before the guys catch us," Gael said, carrying me in his arms. We took our leave and traveled a lot. We found a new pack, and surprisingly, they all welcomed us. Unfortunately, little by little, all the people in those communities started to wilt out. In fear that we would be next, we left their place and wondered again to find our own home. That time, I would be giving birth. We struggled to find a place that would let us stay and take us. Luckily, a man with a small hut and a loving wife lets us use their house. They take care of us and make sure we will be safe. And up until now, here I am, living under their roof with my five years old son, that looks exactly like Cassius.
"Hey, Arrius, slow down," I shouted as I saw Gael and Arrius running down the high cliff, chasing each other. They looked more like a father and a son than Cassius and Arrius would ever be. "Yes, Mom," Arrius shouted back at me. I placed the coffee mug and sniffed it. The peaceful life really gets me going this far.
"Hey, Raya. Can I ask you a favor?" Aunt Julie, the wife of Mister Allan, asked me. They owned this house and have been this kind for five years straight now. "Yes? What could it be?" I looked at her. "I wanted to go to some infirmary to get medicine. You know I am sick now," she said and coughed a little. I held her back to help her stand up and assisted her. "Oh.. where could it be? Shall I make you some herbals right now?" I asked.
"Herbals no longer work on her, love," Uncle Allan said as he entered the house. He put his hat down and sat down on the chair. He looked so tired after taking care of his farm and looked so worried about her wife's current situation. Infirmary? What should I do to save them? The only good doctor I knew was... Yelena.
Also, the infirmary they're talking about was probably hers. I can't afford to go back to that place, no. I can't step into those dangerous prison cells again and act like I was being abducted. But, This might be the only way that I could repay this kind of people out here. This might be the only chance for me to return the favor and express how thankful I am that they were able to take care of me for such a long period of time.
If I had to go back to that pitiful place and have myself step into a disgusting state again, I would gladly do so if that meant saving them. "I know a woman, she treated me before. She's proven to be a very good doctor, and everyone praised her. I can get her to treat you here; would you like that?" I asked her. I dropped my coffee on the table and sighed deeply.
For God's sake, I didn't see this coming. "Are you sure you can do that? On what ground is that? What will it take for you to get her in here?" Aunt asked and stood up. She held my hand tightly, making me think she was so desperate to get treated. "Of course, I can!" I screamed and giggled even though I was faking it. I felt no excitement. "I'll take my leave now, okay? I'll pack some of my things for travel. Can you wait? Are you willing to wait?" I asked as I held my head down and took a grasp of things.
I turned my back and signaled Gael so he could come back here now. "What's wrong?" Gael asked me and dropped Arrius on the floor. I held Arrius's hair and messed it up as I kissed his forehead before standing up to face Gael. "We need to go back to our old pack," I said and felt a twitching pain on the bit on my neck.
It was like Cassius was asking for me back. It was like my mate was communicating with me using the wound he had left on my skin. "What? Why?! Are you— “ I shook my head at him, signaling that I already made the decision and it was final. Gael couldn’t do anything but get our things ready. Arrius seemed to be so confused, but we both knew that we couldn't leave my child here. Either we go out with Arrius being Gael's child with mine or confess that I left the pack pregnant. We stormed off the house after bidding goodbye.
Uncle and Aunt shed tears, and I hate that they do. It feels like I can't leave them right now. "Mommy, where are we going?" Arrius asked me with those innocent eyes. He sure doesn't know that aside from our farm, there is a huge community that's waiting for him. "Somewhere spectacular," I told him. We arrived and saw a huge thick wall and gates. I have used a lot of energy to open the gates as I please.
We walked down an infirmary and realized that the hospital was now deserted. I left Gael and Arrius outside as I walked through all the rooms. I entered an empty space and felt an energy behind me. It was accumulated in one spacing, and I felt it strongly. It was, announced.
"Raya?" A familiar voice echoed around the room. It gave me chills and made me think that I was dreaming. His voice, I almost forgot about it. This was the very first time that I heard a worried tone on his. It was unbelievable. I can’t even look behind me, I felt like the world was lying. I felt like everything was placed on my back, and it was giving me a heavy feeling. My heart was aching as well as my mind was getting more and more messy. "Raya? Is that you?" Cassius whispered.
I could not dare to look at him. Cassius' footsteps echoed around the room, approaching me. I looked at him and stared at his current state. He hasn’t changed even a bit. He was still handsome, and his masculinity showed more. He looked a bit tired. "I-I've been searching for you everywhere; how could you hide from me?" he asked and stopped. The memories of that day came rushing back to me. The betrayal, a traitor, was standing in front of me. The grudge.. it was exploding.
"You cheated, and you dare ask me why I hid? Why I ran away from you? Why did I choose to isolate myself rather than suffer with you? On what grounds do you have the nerve to ask me that?" I shouted. "Raya, you saw that, didn't you?" Cassius stated. Well, right, that's only reasonable that he knew what happened.
"Raya, I made a mistake! That's not your fault at all, and it was mine. Raya, I never wanted to feel that kiss. I was there but wasn't in my right state; I tried to stop it! But.. Eloise was just too powerful— " I cut him off because now he is just getting me mad. “Powerful? After you threw that nerve-wracking moment and boasted about your stupid power, she's powerful? Cassius, you, You are lying. That's you. All you do is lie, nothing more. You are deceitful. I hate you— "he cuts me off quickly by saying:” You want to know why I did that? Raya, I was under my brother's hypnosis. He made me do such a thing because he knew you would be overwhelmed with your emotions. Kairo knew that you would run away, so I started moving my way. I tried finding you! Raya, I tried finding you," he explained himself.
What? Did he really do that? "I searched for you everywhere. Morning, noon, and night, you're all that I think about, Raya. I can't even live my life thinking that I have hurt you and those five years. Raya, I was miserable," I felt an ache in my body. I forgot the fact that Kairo can do such things. I was overcome with my stupid emotions, and I knew. I was wrong.
"Raya, please give me a second chance— “ he tried to say. "Mommy?" Arrius interrupted, which made me run to him. "Baby, why are you here? Gael, why is he here?" I asked and shouted at Gael, who was running down the hallway. He was panting hard, and I immediately knew what was happening with his eyes.
"Mommy?" Cassius stated. "Who is this child?" Cassius asked me. I had the urge to hug Arrius and hide him with my back. With his features, it won't be denied that he is his child. "Mommy, Is he my father? he looks like me. Is he Cassius? The one you're always talking about?" Arrius asked me multiple questions, and I couldn't hold it any longer. I heard Cassius come rushing to us, and I knew I had no way out. Gael was silent and chose to move away from me. Now that I need him? "You, what's your name?" Cassius asked Arrius as he stared at his entirety.
Tears were flooding down his eyes as he knew he felt connections between us. "I am Arrius. Mom told me that my father's name was Cassius, and he was a great wolf with great blood. I want to see him, by chance, are you him?" Arrius said without stuttering. I just stared at them with no expression. This was inevitable, and I knew this was going to happen, and I had to face it. "Yes, I'm Cassius," he said and stared at me.
"Daddy will take you home and will ask your mom's hand again for the second time," Cassius said, which made Arrius confused. "I will court her again, make her love me for the second time, and I will make up for the five years I lost—Arrius, we will be a happy family." I was stiffened. "I will do everything to win both of you back" he promised. I smiled unconsciously.
Cassius carried Arrius by his arms and hugged each other. I could sense the happiness of my child as well as Cassius. I would accept him back. "Cassius," I whispered. "For God's sake, you are poisonous," he said and smiled back.
For the last time, I wanted to teach my heart how to love. To do the exact same opposite my brain wanted. I ought to give my child the perfect family he would have. This was not the end. This was the beginning of a new life.
The End.
