Chapter 58-Lewd Truth

For a moment, I had seen something that I shouldn't. He. Gael was so scary. He looked like he was about to swallow someone who would hurt me and make me taste the bittersweet aftertaste of pain. Gael surely thought that he could kill for me, but was well aware that I wouldn't allow it at the end of the day. After all, I couldn't have him going around and killing people for the sake of my safety.

"Who did this to you?" he said and repeated his previous words. He was so serious as his tone deepened and his eyes flamed in fire. I can see the burning anger in his heart and the wrath that he wanted to release. Gael seemed to be. Braver right now. "No one. I did this to myself. I accidentally, hmm, yeah, I slid on the ground and then slit a cut on my neck on some spike rock. I am so sorry," I lied and laughed.

I just brushed everything off, thinking it was the best thing to do. Rather than confess that my mate hurt me and almost killed me, I guess it is much safer to say it is my fault. I looked back only to see Eloise rolling her eyes. She couldn't stand the sight that she wanted to place both her arms on Gael's neck. Minus the fact that I lied and shielded my mate, Eloise really never liked that habit.

Of course, Cassius was supposed to be the one to keep me safe. Instead of harming me, he should know that his duty was to keep an eye on me. That's his only job, yet he has already failed.. what more with the other work? I sighed deeply and closed my eyes. I wanted to feel the rhythm of Gael's heart and make sure he wasn’t going to burst his anger out of thin air. That would be terrifying to watch.

"Oh yeah? You're telling me that Raya, the most careful woman in the whole universe, the exact opposite of clumsiness, accidentally tripped over on some flat ground and hit her neck on the rock? Just as what stupidity were you carrying in your body?" he asked sarcastically, which made me smile. "Unfortunately, this woman has grown to be fragile now. Weak, I must say," he finished and I laughed and walked up to him. I stared behind the door and shut it closed. I can still see people’s eyes sticking to our room and their senses awoken by my name.

God, I am going to faint in here. "Whatever, Raya. You're being too fake right now," Eloise said as she rolled her eyes at me and sat. Gael looked behind his body only to see me finally closing the door. I tried playing it cool and acting like I was fine despite my stomach hurting me again.

Gael and Eloise were never close. Of course, they don't even pass by each other that often. But seeing them here today, I knew that they'd never get along. Hmmm... it looks like I'll have some cat and dog fighting each other to death right now. "How can you say that Raya's being fake? How dare you insinuate that? Are you making everything a big deal? She just happens to trip over, and that is an accident. Look, woman, it's not her fault," Gael defended me, making Eloise close her eyes very tight and sigh deeply.

So now, Gael's on my side? I only have to have Eloise stand up to finally earn Gael's side, right? Haha! What a pitiful state. "Look, I was just trying to help you, duh?" Eloise said as she rolled her eyes again and placed her arms on her chest as if scolding some child. Now that I finally have a close-up of Eloise, I realize she doesn't look as half dead right now. Even though she is really stressed, she's still beautiful and looks far fresher than I am.

Oh God, to have that kind of best asset and trait! Instead of offering me a seat, Gael snatched the chair and claimed it as his. He's now on the same level as Eloise but still taller than her. Hmm, what a cute sight! I can sense something I shouldn't, so. I guess I'll just shut my mouth and zip it tight. "What help are you trying to offer anyway? The hell," Gael muttered and massaged his nape. Eloise seemed to be irritated that Gael's taller than her even though they were both sitting on the same chair. What am I even doing here? Watching a drama play?

"Your friend was clearly lying to you. Do you want to know what happened? The truth? Do you want to know why she had those stupid big bandages on her neck? Well, you wanted to see how big her injured part was? Let me summarize it for you," Eloise muttered and instantly became a rapper. She talked so fast, as if she was being chased by some big horse or being tracked by some violent serial killer. She had no mercy. Every single word and phrase was pinning Gael on the wall. I can also sense that he doesn't seek amusement from the argument. I am enjoying this kind of petty conversation!

Before talking, Eloise stood up from her seat. Hmm.. what will she say? Is she going to confess that Cassius bit me to perform the first mating stage, again? Well, I already know how Gael would react. He'll probably go through all stages of grief and overreact to things. He'll check the wounds, of course. I think it will even take him about five times before he's finally satisfied with his curiosity about the wound. Next, he'll vent the anger to Eloise or me, thinking we had joint forced into harming me.

Next, he'll eventually pick up the story and go straight to Cassius with the desire to end his life. Then, he'll make sure to keep me safe and be paranoid for the whole decade. Oh, Gosh, I knew he'd be unstoppable. "Raya was bitten by—“ I stood up cutting her off and ran as fast as possible. Even though it felt like something was piercing my womb and my chest was so heavy, I still ran as if I was just exercising. As if there is no baby inside my body.

"An ant bit me, yeah. You know, the small insect that bites you very painfully? Huh?" I laughed and held Eloise's mouth very tight towards me. I laughed awkwardly as I looked down to meet her eyes. She was confused. Apart from Eloise looking like she doesn't know what's going on, I am also one of those who felt the need to shut my mouth right now. On the other hand, Gael was questioning my words with his forehead creasing as he tilted his head. Hmmm, what should I do?

"It became big since I scratch it almost every day. Bet you didn't notice that?" I joked around. I felt the atmosphere lighten as I removed my hand from Eloise's mouth. I can sense Eloise's disgusting and uncomfortable feelings as she looks me straight in the eye, regretting that she tried opening her mouth.

"It accumulated water inside. It was so uncomfortable. I wanted to poke it, but I knew I couldn't, so I just lay low. Also, I came here for surgery so they could get it out of me, and now, it's alright," I shouted as if I was having fun. Clearly, Gael doesn't look like he believed me, but I am okay with that. I don't have to have him buy every single word I utter, you know? "Yeah, that's what happened," Eloise backed up my lies and just let out a deep sigh.

"I'll leave the both of you. I felt like I was just some nuisance here who knows nothing but talk. You know. I am too talkative to even start a proper and way more formal conversation that' suits both of your tastes, weirdos," Eloise stated and laughed at us.

Before going out, she leaned forward to me and whispered something in my ears. I guess it can't be helped. Eloise went out and closed the door after waving her goodbye. I felt heavy afterward as if I would never see that woman again. I would, but I still don't want to—what the hell? Is this what hormonal imbalance means? "What did your personal doctor tell you? Will you be alright or will you continue receiving proper treatment here? Don't worry, and I'll be happy to walk you from your first session to your final one," Gael said that made my eyes light up.

Aaaww... a friend who's willing to stay by your side even if the world crumbles apart and the people turn their back on you. It is my pleasure to have a friend like Gael. I would never tire of having a friend like him and always cherish the moments we have together. Moreover, I don't think I would ever forget this beautiful kind of memory from him.

"Don't worry, I am fine. What do you mean by session? It's not like I'll stay here for about nine months," I laughed. Suddenly, I watched Gael's face turn gloomy. It was his expression that I rarely encountered. Well, he's bubbly anyway. "I am so sorry that I gave you that invitation. I had a feeling that I was the reason why you're here and injured right now. I apologize that it is my fault that you're having trouble with your health and were isolated in this four-cornered room that looks entirely like a prison cell. Please forgive me, Raya. It wasn't my intention to expose you to danger, not at all. If only I could turn back time, I would keep that invitation to myself alone and never let you see even a small glimpse of it. I regret it," Gael apologized for the matter, which was clearly not his fault. I can sense the sincerity in his voice. The trembling tone and the fear that I might reject his apology. I knew he'll eventually cry if I didn't respond now.

"The moment I received that paper, I was deeply moved. It was like I had been waiting for something for so long, and now that it had been granted, I would never lose the chance. As soon as my hands lay on it, I immediately knew I had to give it to you. I knew how your influence would broaden once you join special events like this; it is an opportunity for you. Had I known it would come to this, I would have never accepted it," he explained his side again, making it appear like he regrets everything.

Apparently, I never really blamed him. Like what he said, I also thought that this kind of gathering would help improve my name and title. The only bad luck was that I happened to be the main victim right now. "I am so sorry— "he started. “Hey, stop apologizing," I shouted at him. Gael was confused and startled by my sudden rise of voice. I knew he didn't want to see me getting mad, and he also knew how I would never shout that loud, especially with him.

My breathing was heavy as my heart beat loudly. It was like, I was being chased right now, and death was only behind me. It’s not scary, what gave me these trembling feet was, my stuttering speech. "I-I don't need yo-your— "I tried to say. “You're stuttering?" Gael asked me all of a sudden. Shit. "Nah, i-it is just cold," I said and shrugged. Gael nodded and closed his mouth, not making a big deal. I think that's good. "I don't need yo-your apologies. I know it's n-not your fault," I shouted loudly.

"Clearly, I know what you think about me. You must have thought I would love to attend that, don't you?" I asked. Finally, my stuttering problem disappeared! Otherwise, Gael would think that my illness was coming back. Gael nodded and smiled. "Yeah. I memorized every single trait of you," he said and I smiled back. How comforting was that? "The Luna gave that invitation to me herself, and I swear to God, I almost saw the heavens opening its gate for me," Gael muttered with a huge hint of excitement.

The Luna? Yereah gave it to him? And for what? What is she planning? For the record, the Luna never came out of her comfortable room just to give an invitation herself. Also, they're not close? What exactly does she want to do? Did she purposely give me that invitation, thinking it'd spark some war between Cassius and Kairo? Did she happen to plan everything all along? And I bought that? Did I believe her lies? I believed that she was being genuine and she would help me. Why would I even? Become so soft and kind-hearted to her?

"Are you okay?" Gael breaks the silence. "You have been spacing off. What's wrong?" he asked again. I stared back at him and didn't answer. I just smiled and shrugged, "I was cold," he believed me. "Anyway, are you hungry?" he asked. "Well, yeah," I said. I finally have the courage to eat, you know.

The monster inside me was craving some massive amount of food. It wanted some meat, fresh meat. "You haven't eaten anything ever since you came here?" he asked, so concerned. "Well, technically, yeah. I haven't seen any edible fruits or food here, not even meat. I have always wanted to eat spicy meat with some vegetables but knew it'd be too hard to find. Besides, this isn't a buffet house or a restaurant, to begin with. Why else would they offer me food?" I laughed and stood close to him.

"Then, let's eat," he suggested. I followed him, and I was so happy. This kind of excitement really worked for me. We went out of the room, and finally, no one ever looked at us. Just like a normal wolf who requires a food supply, no one should judge us for that. Gael put me into his arms and helped me stand up. He was so kind. What did he eat?

"Here, let me help you up. Slowly and steadily, okay? Don't force anything," he scolded me like I was his child. Oh, to have a father like him? Also, I somehow wanted my child to have a father like him to begin with. You know, a caring one, that's too qualified for me.

He also knew how to cook food. He always does that for me. He can carry me in his one arm alone but never does that since he knew it'd be too uncomfortable for two people who aren't dating. He knew how to respect women and other people. He fights for what he thinks is best and never allows someone to trample his name.

Even though he literally got jailed, well, that happened before! What’s good now is I managed to pull him out of his own hell. "Okay, be careful. I trust you with my life," I joked around and laughed so hard. I put all my weight on the arm that was clinging to him. My laugh echoed on the walls, but it never really bothered other people.

Of course, it's none of their business; why would they stick their butts on it? "Yeah, I will. It’s not like I will let you go and watch you get injured, again," he said. "Well, apparently, you're right,” I said as we walked through the hallway and realized we reached a mini cafe or something. There was tons of food here, so I guess I cannot call it a cafe. There were lots of drinks to choose from. Numerous options of meal plans, you know, the combos? However, no matter how much I watch the menu, I can't find the food I want. My stomach was refusing to have the food presented to me. Should I just find the things I want or maybe try eating what's preset rather than being picky? "Hmmm.. what do you want?" Gael asked me seriously.

"I couldn't find what suits my test right now. I was craving something sweet and spicy but couldn't find the right taste or food. My appetite’s slowly fading," I said. I heard Gael sigh loudly and massage his forehead as he smiled at me. Is he slowly losing his temper with me? He wants me to drop the act now and just choose what I think would be delicious. But I can't. My eyes seemed to be getting teary, and I was sad. I want to find the food that I am craving, but it feels like Gael is irritated by my behavior. What should I do? Maybe I should just starve myself...

"Are you alright? N-no, don't cry," Gael said, which made my tears flow out of my eyes. He embraced me with his perfect arms and wiped off the tears from my eyes. He was so careful about it, "Okay, don't cry. We'll find the food that you want, don't worry," he said, which made me instantly jump in joy and hug him tight. He moved out of the food court when I spotted someone I knew. I felt like he was so familiar.

"Hey, uh. I'm going to use the restroom first. Do you think you can wait?" I said and excused myself. "No, you want me to go with you? I can do that. No worries," he said and suggested that maybe, I should just go with him. "No! Don't worry; I’ll be quick. Just wait here, okay?" I said and instructed him to just wait for me on one of the chairs. "Oh, okay, be quick?" he said softly. I nodded and immediately moved away. I was struggling to walk but still managed to pull myself up. I held my chin up and carried my body. I saw the man entering some remote place, like a room with no people occupying it. I followed him as his shadows as I struggled.

For a moment, I saw him turn his back, leaving me with no choice but to blend in with the crowd instead of following him really close. As soon as I felt like he was no longer bothered by my existence, I eventually followed his trail using my sense of smell. His scent gave off a very strong liquor taste which corrupted my entirety.

I walked through the black hallway and eventually heard a lewd sound. It was like someone was kissing, eventually producing a very disgusting feeling. My heart was throbbing like crazy; something inside me was telling me that I shouldn't pursue the way and go back now. I still had time to change my mind, but I couldn't. My feet won't cooperate. I saw a shadow, a pair. It looked like they were kissing; I swear to God, it was traumatizing. I took a small peek by the door and realized who was inside.

They.. betrayed me? My heart race faster. My eyes were filled with water. My Lord, I don't know what to do. I felt like my knees were weak and short of breath. I can't see anything but the water from my eyes. He... Is he kissing other girls after mating with me? Is he making out with another woman after he bit the shit out of me? Cassius.. he's cheating!
