Chapter 157 Confronting the Rival Head-On
Chapter 157 Confronting the Rival Head-On
"Miles is looking at me! He’s looking at me!” the girl shouted, sitting in the row right in front of Lydia.
Lydia could understand that kind of fanaticism when chasing an idol.
When she first met Ethan’s two henchwomen, Alice and Jane, at the ST Riverside Hotel, hadn't her adoration been even more extreme?
The moment she recalled that Jane was the one who shot and killed her father, Lydia’s eyes darkened.
She rested her chin in her hands and slumped back into her seat.
On the drift course, a white Maserati burst out right behind Miles.
Before the audience could react, a matte-black Porsche cut into the turn so crisply that the race number on its trunk shook violently.
A silver Lamborghini came from behind to take the lead, charging forward.
Several modified race cars entered the track by now, creating a dazzling spectacle.
The last car was a sapphire-blue Subaru. Its carbon-fiber body emitted a subdued, cool glow in the night.
The car slid sideways through the turn with an almost defiant swagger.
With staggering speed, it caught up to the red Ferrari that had been racing in first place far ahead.
"Who the hell is that? Shit!"
Miles had never seen a crazier racer than this.
Glancing in the rearview mirror, he refused to be outdone and floored the gas pedal, accelerating forward.
The modified Ferrari's exhaust pipes spewed a cloud of acrid smoke.
"You little punk, you've got some skills after all!"
Ethan turned the steering wheel all the way with one hand, and the car immediately slid sideways at a 45-degree angle.
He avoided the apex of the turn while keeping the car steady through the violent maneuver.
“Who is this master driver?”
"That good? He'll catch up later!"
Lydia, just like the others in the stands, had her heart in her throat.
Ethan slammed his foot down on the gas pedal, catching up to the red Ferrari ahead.
The two cars raced side by side down the straightaway.
The final two S-curves before the finish line became the decisive moment of the race.
Ethan, steering effortlessly with one hand, changed lanes decisively.
His car brushed past Miles’s Ferrari, its rear end moving so fast that it left a trail of afterimages.
Ethan suddenly slowed down, ramming into Miles’s car in a blocking maneuver.
Sparks flew from the tires of the two supercars, and the dull thud of the collision gave way to a piercing roar.
“Are you out of your mind? Looking for trouble?”
Miles glanced through his side-view mirror at the man in the Subaru who was hot on his heels.
Ethan sneered, his eyes cold and sharp.
He slammed his foot down on the gas pedal, charging straight at Miles.
"Does he want to overtake our racing god, Miles?"
"No, he’d already pulled ahead of Miles. But then he suddenly slowed down."
“What’s he trying to do?”
“He’s teasing Miles!” someone gasped.
“Treating him like prey for his own amusement?”
“Who is this guy?”
Lydia sat in the stands.
Even from such a distance, she could sense the life-or-death danger on the track.
She wanted to cheer for Miles, but the screams of the fans drowned out her soft voice.
“Aaaah!!!”
"So crazy!"
"He’s too handsome. I love him!"
"He's even more handsome than Miles..."
"Look at that hard brake he just threw down. It hit my heart..."
“Where exactly did this guy come from? How come we’ve never seen him before?”
Miles failed to cross the finish line.
Beneath his racing helmet, his handsome face darkened.
“This fucking guy!”
Miles was so furious that he slammed his fist into the steering wheel.
Throughout his racing career, he’d never encountered a rival like this before.
He jerked the steering wheel hard, slammed his foot on the gas pedal, and rammed into the other car in retaliation.
“Crash!”
The ear-splitting roar of the two race cars collided once again.
Ethan’s body lurched forward, and his fingers remained casually draped over the steering wheel.
Ethan snorted. "Kid, when I was racing, you were still playing in the mud!"
He paused, recalling that this kid had touched his baby’s face.
"Well, then, those dirty hands are no longer needed."
He shifted into reverse and began to back up.
“He’s backing up!”
"That mysterious racer in the Subaru must be trying to run away!"
"Our racing god is so awesome—he's Miles, after all! Who wouldn’t be scared of him?”
Just as Lydia was about to sigh in relief, something unexpected happened.
Ethan was charging head-on, slamming into Miles’s car again.
The force of this collision was much greater.
Boom!
The two cars crashed into each other, sending up a cloud of smoke and dust several meters high, mixed with the acrid smell of leaking fuel.
The red Ferrari was sent flying backward, soaring into the air before rolling over and crashing to the ground.
Crash!
"Miles?"
Lydia’s eyes widened in shock, and she jumped up from her seat.
The fans at the scene fell silent.
"Our racing god has never lost before—and now he’s actually lost!"
"Miles lost?"
"Is he okay?"
With the car flipped like that, it's not looking good..."
