Chapter 15 FIFTEEN
Brienne rubbed her bleary eyes and stared at the arm lying on her stomach. She smiled when she saw Raven sleeping soundly beside her. They squeezed themselves into Brienne's small bed.
"Raven," she whispered as she touched the tip of his nose. Raven hummed and slowly opened his eyes.
"Hi, beautiful," Raven said and kissed Brienne's forehead. "What time is it?" he said, pulling Brienne closer to her.
"Past ten in the evening. Are you not going home?" Brienne asked and put her hand on Raven's chest.
"I'll go later," he said. "My back hurts, baby. We should really change your bed to a comfortable one," he added and sat.
"Go home if you're going to insult my bed once more," Brienne jokingly said. Raven looked at her with his puppy eyes.
"Fine, your bed's awesome," he said. "What would you like to eat? You didn't even get to finish the food I brought," he added. After the mind-blowing oral sex, Brienne ate the food Raven brought, but she didn't finish it all because she no longer liked it.
"I don't know; I want chicken dipped in chocolate sauce," she answered, her eyes twinkling. Raven's forehead creased.
"W-What? What food is that? Wouldn't you get a stomachache with that?" Raven said. Brienne pouted and ignored Raven.
"Baby?" Raven called. "Baby, I'm just saying, but if you really want that, then I will find it, okay?" he added and kneeled in front of Brienne. Brienne looked at him, her heart melting.
"Really?" Brienne said.
"Yes, baby. Let's go and get the chicken chocolate, whatever you want," Raven said, pulling Brienne closer. They went out of the apartment together and saw Flint.
"Hey," Raven greeted. Brienne grabbed Raven's arm to stop him, but Flint responded by bowing his head as they continued their walk.
"Do you know him?" Brienne asked when they were far from Flint.
"Yeah, I talked to him when I got out of your apartment. He's okay," Raven said. Brienne eyed her, but Raven simply shrugged his shoulders, and they rode the elevator.
Raven brought Brienne to the restaurant his friend owned. When they arrived, it was closing time, but Raven begged and doubled the price of the food they were about to order just so Brienne could eat her chicken.
"Thank you so much, Vince," Raven said.
"You're welcome, brother. Is your girlfriend pregnant? That's some weird combo she likes," Vince said. Raven looked at Brienne, who was eating her food happily inside the car. Suddenly, he remembered the night he took her in his hotel room. He didn't use a condom and cummed inside of her. What if she was really pregnant with his child?
"I don't know, Vince," Raven said and sighed. "But man, thank you so much. I'll wire the money to your account. Send my regards to Winonah, okay?" he added and tapped Vince's shoulder.
"Okay, brother. I will," Vince said. "Thank you!" he added as Raven walked back to his car. He went inside and stared at the beautiful woman next to him.
"Are you good?" Raven asked. Brienne looked at him and smiled, showing her small dimple as she nodded her head.
"Thank you, Raven," she whispered, dipping the chicken in chocolate. Raven wanted to ask her about the pregnancy but kept his mouth shut. He will wait for Brienne to tell him if this is really the case.
An hour later, after Brienne had eaten, Raven dropped her off at her apartment and said goodbye to her. Brienne watched Raven's car disappear before entering the building. She's content and full.
"Are you satisfied, my love?" she whispered as she rubbed her belly. Brienne went to the elevator and pressed the button to her floor. When the elevator bell rang, Brienne exited the building and entered her room. Brienne sat on the bed and pulled her pillow. Raven's scent was still there, and she lied, hugging the pillow and closing her eyes.
The sun rises, spreading its warm light, showing that a new day has begun. Brienne woke up and stretched, but immediately felt nauseous. She hurriedly went to the bathroom and threw up.
"Baby," she whispered and rubbed her belly to calm it down. "Let's go to the hospital this weekend for your scheduled check-up," she added and flushed the puke and cleaned herself. Brienne prepared a light meal, and good thing her stomach accepted the food without puking. After making sure that everything was good, Brienne went out of the room and locked the door. When Brienne saw Flint again, she bowed her head, and Flint reciprocated.
Brienne rode the bus to work and arrived at the company right on time. She went inside and saw the stares directed at her, this time a bit more intense. Brienne hurriedly walked into the empty elevator. Once Brienne reached her department, she exited the elevator, and Janice immediately spotted her and rushed towards her.
"Bree! Oh my god!" Janice hysterically said.
"What happened?" Brienne asked, and her co-workers looked at her and started whispering.
"Let's not talk here," Janice said, grabbing Brienne's arm. She softly pulled her to the smoking area.
"What is it? You're making me nervous, Nice," Brienne said.
"You know Carmie and Desiree of the Budget Department? They got fired for misappropriation of company funds!" Janice said.
"But what does that have to do with me?" Brienne asked.
"Bree, they were also the ones who spread the rumors about you and Raven. That's why you were trending once again," Janice replied. Brienne fell silent. "You get it now?" she added.
"Raven got them fired?" she whispered.
"I don't know, Bree. You're the only one who can answer that, and besides, they deserve it. They have been misappropriating the fund for months now," Janice said while shaking her head. Brienne bit her bottom lips and clenched her hand into a fist. They went back to their department, and all Brienne could do was ignore the stares and whispers directed at her.
"Hi, Brienne! I have already submitted the reports to Sir Kit. I'm sorry for making you do it," Lindsay said. Brienne looked at Lindsay, confused as to why she had approached her. Brienne had been doing most of Lindsay's part for months now, but she couldn't tell their manager because she doesn't like to become the topic of Lindsay and her friends. But now, it was a miracle that Lindsay approached her first and did her part.
"Okay?" Brienne said. Lindsay smiled at her and walked away. The whole day, Brienne was confused because everyone in her department would start a small talk to her, offer her to her work, and it even got to the point where some gave her food and made her drinks.
"What is going on?" Brienne sent the message to Janice. She saw Janice take her phone out and look in her direction.
"They were afraid they'd end up like Carmie and Desiree if they pissed you off."
Brienne read the message, and her eyes got bigger. They were thinking of ways to get into Brienne's good side now that they found out about Carmie and Desiree.
"This is a mess," she whispered. She needs to talk to Raven as soon as possible. Brienne wanted to know what on earth Raven did.
