CHAPTER 117; PAYBACK

CHAPTER 117; PAYBACK
CIERRA

The sergent’s words are easy to understand, but there must be a blocking in my head as I furrow my brow and turn to Xander for more explanation who in turn places his hand on my lower back, stepping to stand by my side while his gaze is fixed on the old man that’s kneeling before us.

“Crime records?” Xander questions and at the old man’s nodding, there’s a flow of understanding within me.

“Every official has committed a crime, I’ve been the one helping them, I still have their files. I could take you to my office and show them to you,” he pauses, taking a glance at Xander before dropping it to the floor, afraid to move as Cassius still has his gun pointing at him from the side.

“If you release them to the media, you’ll get the US government me involved as so many on their crimes include fraudulent activities against the US Government” He continues and I witness as Xander and Cassius exchange glances, Xander nods his head at the bowing soldier while Cassius nods in understanding.

Finally he withdraws the gun and places the metal object in his pocket. However, he’s not released.

“I don’t trust you,” Xander begins. At this point, I also cannot trust anyone, not when the nation is desiring to get me to shed blood and die for treasures that will bring about chaos to the nation.

“You will access the documents online and hand it over to us. Why move with you when I don’t trust you. In your comfort zone, you can escape, and you can try to hurt us, this is a mutual spot which is neither of us comfort zone and so-“ Xander pauses, stretching his hand towards Cassius.

Their silent conversation does amaze me but it proves how strong their boss and the beta has a good  relationship.

“Fine, I will start with the list of people involved in the vault” The old man begins and even I have my ears widely open. Xander passes on a key to him as he came off for Asaba. And when he quickly scrambl the key out of Xavier’s hold, typing somethings into it before turning the camera which displays the photos of people I didn’t expect to Xander.

Xander takes the phone from his grasp as he zooms into everyone is the pictures as if scanning them with his eyes and making them authentic.

“And where do I get their record” Xander questions as he narrows his eyes at the old man who has stopped shivering in fear.

The old hag surprisingly shows everything to us, each embezzlement, each fraud, each war leading situations caused by a netherland, higher official.

Xander wastes no time in editing and positing the messages on the various social media platform while we sat on the ground to get out feet.

After a while waiting for Xander, he snaps his gaze up, sighin in exhaustation. It’s normal as it’s difficult to be exhausted after posting such heft amount of illegal things in the country.

Just as we are sat in silence, it takes a while for Cassius phones, before he could say a word, another call comes in, and just like that Xander is done, however leaving the old man in the room didn’t sound safe, he could escape or try to harm any of us, despite we are much more than him we cannot take the risk with someone who had killed a soul and kidnapped another one all because of greed.

After a while Xander id the first to hop to his feet before me, Cassius on the other hand has been the only one standing, back rested to the wall as he seemed devastated. I can only pray Nadine is not hurt, I won’t forgive myself for killing their unborn child.

“I was right, you’re really are of great help to us” Xander chuckles but there’s something odd about his laughter; it seems forced and bitter.

And at that moment, he pulls out his gun from his back pocket again and without hesitation, a loud gun shot sound echoes through the walls causing to quiver in fear, covering my ears from bursting.

Another loud cry follows which belongs to the sergent, now sat while he holds his arm with pain contorting his features.

“Xander” I whisper, my fingers reaching out to hold his arm but the minute he turns to meet my gaze, I couldn’t help but melt. I’m not sure he plans to kill the Sergent but I didn’t expect it to be this way.

“You killed my only surviving parent. You don’t expect me to let you go easily” Xander frowns, moving closer to the old man who as returned to gazing at the ground, however the minute Xander is before him, Xander lifts hi chin up and brings his gun to his forehead as he mutters.

“you will have to pay for what you did to my mother”
