Chapter 118: ; THE CHAOS IS ABOUT TO BEGIN

CIERRA

It’s surprising how Cierra doesn’t try to stop me. I can feel her gaze on me from the side but she isn’t making a move to stop me from killing the man before me, instead, she takes a step back and brings her hand to cover her ears.

“Forgive me, please” The man wails, shivering yet scared to make a move that will cost him his life. A wave of coolness washes over me as I pull the trigger and let the bullet penetrate into his skull I watch his body go numb, mouth open, eyes widen as tears slip down his eyes before he drops to the ground like a dead goat.

I feel no remorse, instead, the wave of satisfaction rushed through me, coupled with Cierra’s hand that strokes my back softly as if informing me she’s on my side regardless of what I do, regardless of what I become.

“The media has caught on to the records posted, it seems to be gaining lots of audience and the people are beginning to plan an online protest” Cassius informs while his gaze is fixed on the phone where I guess the statistics are being displayed. The chaos is expected, it’s politics, and worse it includes betrayal of another nation.

“We need to leave for the warehouse then,” I state, shifting my gaze from Cierra by my side whose gaze is on the dead man and Cassius who nods the second I meet his gaze and begins to walk out of the cell.

“Xander?” Cierra calls out, her voice soft as if cautious with what she’s about to say.

“Yes love”

“No sacrifices”

The words are low yet clear enough for me to understand without any second wasted. The scared look in her eyes while she stares into mine hoping I nod in response, which is impossible. I cannot promise her I won’t sacrifice myself if it has to do with keeping her safe, I wouldn’t think twice about it. I’ve lost too much to care about my life anyway.

Instead of responding, I stroke her hair, arranging the strands behind her ear before leaning to leave a peck on her forehead.

I part from her after a while, brushing my thumb across her cheeks while she stares up at me waiting for a response.

“We need to get Nadine out before she’s hurt”

With those words, I rested my hand on her lower back, guiding her out of the cell and through the dungeon, only releasing her once we were seated in the car.

The drive to the warehouse felt like a drive for years.

Seeing how everyone in the pack has their doors shut and not a single pack member is on the road is clear indication that chaos is about to begin. And when the car finally haults just a few distance away from the warehouse, I can already sense the chaos, the fight going on within.

“How do we get in sir?” Cassius questions.

“Cierra” It’s a struggle to bring her up when such chaos is going and she is the main target but as much as I want to save her, I need to put an end to all this. I need to avenge my mother’s death, I need to save her, and lastly…I need to find the reason behind what Selene had said back in the dungeon. It could be nothing, It could be possible that she was saying nonsense to get away, however, it did tally with Cierra’s dream and it would be unreasonable of me to push that away.

Cassius turns back to me with shock written all over his face while I stare at Cierra who stares at me with a look of appreciation and relief.

“Are you sure about that sir?” Cassius questions. Even I don’t want to do this, throughout the drive I have been thinking of other ways to end this fight while I send Cierra out of the state, or out of the country, somewhere far away that no one try to hurt her, somewhere far no one would see her. Somewhere she can get her peace of mind, even without me.

But I know that is impossible, first getting her out of here is impossible, and keeping her faraway while I fight is impossible. There is a lot of chance she will do whatever she can to return here to be with me. And I do understand her feelings. Just like me, she has no one else to lay a shoulder on, and now I must live, not for myself but for her. And Cierra. Must live. I don’t care if I have to burn down the world to make that happen.

I nod to Cassius's question and begin the explanation.

“You would go with her. Keep her safe, not even a scratch should be on her. Try to stall them, and wait for me”

“Wait for you? You are going somewhere?” Cierra questions, the disturbed look that has been on her face for a long time replaces the relived expression that only lasted for a few seconds.

“Just do what I say and wait for me, I won’t let anyone hurt you. I promise” And I won’t fail that promise.
