Chapter Eighty-Three: Afraid.

Chapter Eighty-Three: Afraid.

LOKI’S mouth parted upon hearing that from Shiloh. Without hesitation, he ran towards her and hugged her tightly. He was so happy that she’s starting to show progress even though it wasn’t that much.

“Yes, My Queen… You used to play with our daughters here,” he replied.

“Why are you hugging me? I can’t breathe properly.”

“Because I’m happy. Tomorrow we will go visit Elder Nox and tell him your progress.”

Shiloh didn’t reply to him but still, he was happy. Last time he was losing hope. All of his problems are waving at him all at once and he’s losing his mind. But now, he believes that it is possible. It is possible that the Queen will regain her memories even though it will take time.

After they talked in the garden, they went back inside the palace to eat breakfast. When Loki couldn’t even eat properly in the past days, today he ate a lot. He was able to get his appetite back. They ate breakfast together with their daughters.

“I want to be with the girls today,” Shiloh said after they ate.

“Hmm? Why do you want that? Do you feel something towards them?”

Shiloh nodded. “I would like to play with them.”

Loki agreed to her. “Just don’t leave. You have to be with the maidservants while you are with our daughters, alright? You haven’t recovered yet so you need someone to guide you.”

She nodded. “I understand.”

He was happy to see them get off from the dining table. Even though Shiloh can’t show too much emotion, it’s still good to see them together.

The next day, Loki moved all of his schedules for the day just to give time for Shiloh’s therapy with Elder Nox. It should be next week, but because he wanted to know Shiloh’s condition, he pushed it through.

The gate of Saumoure opened as soon as the vampire guards saw them. They are openly welcome in the Saumoure now. He didn’t know why but the atmosphere in the Saumoure is much more cozy now.

“Your schedule is next week, what happened?” Elder Nox asked and then turned his attention to them.

Loki glanced at Shiloh beside him before he turned back his attention to Nox.

“She showed signs that she remembers our daughters,” he replied. “That’s a good sign, right?”

“What exactly did she remember?”

“Playing with our daughters in the garden.”

Nox nodded and then walked near Shiloh. He faced her, looked into her eyes before he asked.

“Do you remember giving birth to the Princesses?” he asked.

Loki looked at Shiloh, then she glanced at him. Loki’s eyes were hopeful… but.

“No…”

Her answer made his heart sank. It’s still sad to know that she still couldn’t remember.

“It is not that she remembers, she just feels something towards your daughters,” Nox said. “But it is a good sign that her feelings are cooperating with her mind.”

“What do you mean by that?” he asked.

“It means that she’s trying to remember them. Let her be with the girls every time she wants.”

Even though it wasn’t what he wanted to hear, at least it was progressing. She wanted to remember their daughters… How about him? Is she going to try remembering him as well?

Hopefully…

—

Days and months had passed but Shiloh’s condition didn’t show new progress. Despite the fact that she didn’t remember everything, she was able to learn all of the things that she has to do as a Queen and a mother. But being a wife, it’s not easy. It was like she didn't want to remember Loki.

“Maybe the reason why she doesn’t want to remember me is because she thought I would find a concubine… Maybe she thought she wasn't enough for me…”

Loki sipped on the glass of liquor while Lincoln was just looking at him. He can’t drink now that Caroline is near her due. She was pregnant with their first baby.

“Maybe you’re right,” Lincoln replied.

He looked up at him and then raised his brow. “You agreed?”

“What do you want me to say? It is possible. You remember Elder Nox said? If she has a traumatic memory, then she doesn’t want to remember it.”

“Shut up,” he replied.

He just wants to hear an enlightenment from Lincoln but he thinks he wouldn’t be able to get that from him.

Because he wanted to forget all of his problems, he got drunk. He wanted to sleep tightly because in the past months, he wasn’t able to sleep well. How could he? When her wife is right next to her but it feels like she was dead whenever she sleeps.

Maybe because she’s a hybrid. Her body wasn’t the same anymore. It was cold. As well as her emotions…

Lincoln helped him all the way to their room. Shiloh opened it and was surprised to see Loki who can’t even stand up straight.

“What happened to him?” Shiloh asked and then helped Lincoln to get Loki in the bed.

“He’s love sick,” Lincoln replied. “Because of you.”

Shiloh didn’t reply until they finally lay down Loki on the bed. She looked up at him.

“Is it really because of me?”

Lincoln looked at her. “You can feel that he’s like this because of you? I thought you’re emotionless.”

“I wasn’t,” she replied. “I can feel that he’s frustrated because I can’t remember him. I just don’t know how to react. And how to express what I feel.”

“What do you feel then?”

“I feel bad that I couldn’t remember him. He said we’re mates… I can feel that. I can also smell his sweet scent and the attraction between us.”

“Why are you telling this to me instead to him?”

Shiloh’s mouth parted then she sighed. “I don’t want him to feel sad if his hopes didn’t go just like what he wanted. I saw him like that when I first showed signs of improvement. He was disappointed when it didn’t go well.”

Lincoln smiled at her and then smiled. “I think it is better if you talk to him. He’s frustrated that you’re not talking. He misses you a lot.”

With that, Lincoln left her. Leaving Shiloh thinking of what she has to do.
