Chapter 28
~Veronica Pov~
“Hey, Nica.”
I had reluctantly taken up the call, I didn’t want to take the call at first but Sora was just an annoying friend I couldn’t ignore.
“What’s up, Sora?”
I heard her giggle from the other end.
“I heard your wedding was postponed, are you still in the pack? Are you sure you are going to get married to Alpha Vlad of the Crimson Pack? I’m beginning to doubt that.” She giggled furiously from the other end.
I stared at the mirror in the salon and smirked.
I shouldn’t let Sora intimidate me, it wasn’t going to happen as the Alpha daughter that I was.
“We are having the wedding as stated. What you heard is just rumors and it’s baseless.” I snarled and glared at the hairstylist that was having my head down.
She apologized.
“You sure about that?” She mocked in unbelief.
“The pack elders called already and asked me to come to the pack, I’m meeting with Vlad already. I’m at the salon and having my hair done. I should look pretty for my man.” I chuckled which I had forced out.
A scowl returned to my face.
“Don’t worry Sora, I’ll send an invite. You can invite your whole family to the wedding. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to come to Crimson Pack.” I snickered and ended the call.
Ever since the last visit with Vlad, I didn’t get a call or a text from him. When I left his pack that was the only time I saw him and heard about him. He seems like he had forgotten about me, and that wasn’t supposed to happen.
“Miss, do you think this style is okay?”
“Do exactly as I have ordered you to!” I snapped at the hairstylist.
I was making my hair because I have decided to go to Vlad. I won’t let him push me aside. I planned with the elders of both packs and we concluded that I must be at the pack house and that was for certain.
I won’t let someone else come into the picture and take the place that I have been preparing for ever since.
Vlad doesn’t know what is coming to him, I won’t sit and wait for him to make all the decisions. If I choose not to take any action, we might never have had the wedding not when his ex-mate was with him leaving in the same house with Vlad.
What if Vlad falls for her?
What if he doesn’t want the wedding anymore?
That was the thought I had when I came to Crimson Pack. I won’t take any humiliation from Vlad and whatever he was planning was not going to work.
Vlad wanted to have a meeting with the elders of his pack and me. I know what he was going to talk about. He sounded angry over the phone that was here in his pack, I know he doesn’t want me here because of her.
That lady, that has his sons.
I hope they never find them.
“I won’t get married to Veronica for now.” I came up when I heard Vlad said that.
He was going to keep me aside, if he doesn’t get married to me now, he will never get married to me.
“That’s not going to happen, Vlad,” I muttered as I stepped into the room, I have been listening to all the conversations that were having. I wanted to know if Vlad was going to tell them about his mate.
That was the reason he was holding against the binding ceremony.
I couldn’t think of any other good reason.
“I would like to speak with the Alpha alone.” I was staring at Vlad alone, his eyes narrowed at me. I maintain a stone face, feeling both anger and hatred those emotions that I had tried to hide.
“Let’s talk in the other room.” Vlad stood up from the chair and made his way out of the meeting, I followed closely from behind.
He opened the door to a room and got in. He sat on the bed and waited for me to come in, I huffed with my hand on my hips.
“It seems you’ve some time to tell me, I don’t have anything to say to you, Veronica. I have said everything that I wanted to and I believed you heard me. Clearly.”
“The reason you don’t want to get married to me is because of your ex-mate isn’t it?”
“That has nothing to do with it.”
I sat down at the table.
“You expect me to believe that do you, Vlad?”
He scoffed and his face hardened at me.
“You would have said to the elders just now, that the reason why you have postponed the wedding was because you already have an heir. The elders would be happy won’t them?” I smirked and watched as his face twitched and the veins throbbed on his neck.
“Do not behave like a bitch, Nica.” He snarled.
I chuckled darkly with a hand over my mouth.
“Are you trying to blackmail me into marrying you?” Vlad rose from the bed and took a long stride toward me.
“You don’t want me to go back to the elders and told them about your little secret triplet that you are hiding and that your ex-mate is right there in your house and you are keeping her. They are already suspicious of your movements, it would only be made worse when they know what you are hiding. A low common wolf who might have been a slut and imposing on you some worthless so...” Before I could complete the words from my mouth, I felt Vlad’s hand against my face.
“A common what?” He growled and pointed his finger at my face. “Worthless son. Do you talk about my sons? Nica.”
“If you want a spar with Samara you won’t even get a chance to touch a strand of hair on her. Don’t you dare speak that low of her again and talk about my sons when you know nothing about Samara?”
He warned, his eyes were blazing with hate and disgust.
I still couldn’t believe that Vlad slapped me because of her, Samara.
That was her name.
Everything and everyone that has the letter S in their name.
“You want to be Luna of my pack, you should know how to use your tongue else I’m going to have them slit. I’m never expected less from you.” He glared coldly at me, I felt nothing else but his hatred. He hated me and I could feel it.
“You want to blackmail me?” He scoffed and closed the distance between us, his breath was against my face.
“I don’t want to go home and see your bags there, I’m gonna throw them out. Wait till I call you, you don’t make the rules Nica. I do because I am the Alpha.” Vlad hissed and stepped away from me, my hand was clutched to the side of my cheek as if holding it would stop the pain.
“I’m the one who chooses you in the first place and you think you can fucking do what you want?” He points to the door and glances at me quickly.
“Get out.” He growled.
“The elders are right there and they are waiting for you, you should meet them and tell that everything you have just told me. What makes you think I’m going to be scared of that?”
I took my lips in and wiped the tears at the side of my eyes.
This wasn’t how I thought it was going to be, Vlad had hit me.
He was showing me the other dreadful side of him, that Vlad wasn’t scared of anyone or anything at all. That was what everyone knew him for.
If he wasn’t scared of saying it why didn’t he tell the elders that he already had a son?
Why did he keep it away from them?
I sniffed and clenched my fist with a dagger staring at Vlad.
“If you have nothing else to say to me then I would leave.” He turned and walked out of the room. I moved away from the table, staring at Vlad.
I wiped another tear that escaped my eyes.
“I know what I’m going to do Vlad,” I mumbled to myself.
I know what you are scared of losing, your triplet and your ex-mate.
That’s what I’m going to take away from you, I promise you that. You hope that I did not find them first before you do.
Because I will have them killed and you would have no choice but to come back to me when they are out of the way.
That seems to be the only way that would work.
“Nica, the elders are calling for you.” Xylan, Vlad’s Beta came into the room. He stared at me surreptitiously and looked away.
I forced a smile back on my lips pretending to be a sweetheart in front of the elders. If I had them on my back.
I could do a little more and stay in the pack if I want to.
“After you, Nica.” Xylan gestured and I walked out of the room.
“What have you decided?” The chief Elder Richard asked me.
I turned and stared at Vlad for a brief moment and smiled sweetly at the elders.
“We have concluded and as a soon-to-be Luna. I have to agree to whatever decision Vlad takes, he knows what’s best for us and the pack. I agreed with Vlad to postpone the wedding.”
That was the moment, my whole world was crushed.
