Chapter 14
~Vlad~
“My father told me what happened, and we are going to offer any help you want, you need warriors, amenities, anything at all my father would provide it all. Besides isn’t that the reason you want to get married to me and the arrangement of our wedding?”
Veronica asked sipping from her coffee. I left Samara at the house when I got a call from her, I didn’t want her to come to the mansion so I asked us to meet at the cafe that was close to the mansion.
“Because we have a strong base of warriors and we’re gonna protect you.” She looked at out the windscreen and took her gaze back to me.
“They came for you, no doubt they might come again, and you need our help. I don’t want my husband lost in the rogues. Have you found out who is doing it yet?”
I shook my head, the only one who we left alive, refused to say anything and requested that we kill him like the others, and when we didn’t, he took his own life.
“He didn’t say anything, we are investing the case for it.” I leaned closer to the table with my hands on it.
“If we need your help we’re gonna ask for it but now we don’t. So you tell your father not to worry about the affairs of my pack.” I moved back from her, her face turned from shock to sour.
“We are soon to be married, Vlad you should learn how to extend help.”
“About that.” I placed my elbow on the table. “Our binding ceremony has been shifted, we are no longer getting married in a few weeks but a month after. I sent the memo to your pack a few days back. I guess your father hadn’t told you about it.”
“What!” She half-yelled, her hand slammed against the table, bringing a few pair of eyes to our table.
“Why would you do that, Vlad? I have been preparing for this moment, I have sent out a lot of invites for the event and you postponed it without telling me!” She protested.
“I told you, Nica. I need to find my sons, they can’t be missing and I’ll be having a happy ceremony of getting married to you. I won’t be able to do it.”
“You won’t be able to do it or you don’t want to because someone is telling you not to get married to me.” She flared up, and swept the coffee off the table with her hands, the remaining content spilled on the floor, staining my shoes.
I ignored it and kept my anger in check.
“What are you implying?” I asked calmly. She run her hand over her hair and exhaled, glaring at the few persons staring our way.
“You know what I’m talking about Vlad, I wasn’t gonna talk about the fact that you brought me out here to a cafe instead of your house because she was in there and now you’re postponing the wedding. Ha!” She scoffed and nodded severally.
“She has nothing to do with every decision that I made. I told you, she has nothing to do with it, everything I said or do was solely on me and not anyone else.”
“I don’t believe that Vlad,”
I exhaled deeply.
“Nica, listen to me, I can’t get married to you when I can’t find my sons, this isn’t the first time I’m saying it. I need to find them, I won’t be at ease with myself if anything happens to them. So we have to move the date of the binding ceremony further until I find them.”
I was holding my patience and trying to explain to her, I didn’t want to get angry and cause a scene with her behavior. Moreover, we were not alone.
“Stil...It has something to do with her, she’s the mother of your children. So what happened when you find them?”
I tapped my fingers on the table and was silent for a while. I haven’t thought about this, what would truly happen when I find them?
“You can’t even say anything, you don’t even know if we’re gonna get married or not once you find them.”
“Of course we are, there’s no stopping it.” It came out softly and I knew that Nica didn’t believe me when I said so. The look in her eyes held so many doubts in them.
“You’re an Alpha Vlad and you shouldn’t go back on your words.” She grabbed her purse from the side of the table.
“You have to stand on the word you said. We’ll get married in a month. I’ll send your message to my father that you don’t need any help.” She grumpily stood up from her seat and muttered a few words under her breath.
I stood up as well.
“I’m leaving.”
I walked her out of the cafe to where her car was parked. She leaned in front of the car and bite her nails and she looked at me.
“What do you want to say?” Her eyes were flickering, I knew there was a lot on her mind.
The elders in the pack wanted me to have a Luna, and they have come together and picked one from among the best of the other packs and that was how Veronica was picked.
Her father had a strong base of warriors and amenities and influence as well, and the elders thought it was the best that she was chosen to be Luna, and it would benefit the pack and our marriage was arranged by both packs.
I would have been married off if Samara hasn’t come back to the pack. I wonder how Veronica would be able to cope with my sons if she still want to get married to me.
“I’ll see you soon, Vlad, and next time I won’t meet you in the cafe, I would be in your house.” She hissed and got into the car and shut the door.
I wonder what her plan was, what was thinking.
I waved when they drove out of sight and stared at my shoes which were stained with coffee.
I sighed.
I had no choice but to keep up with her attitude. I left Samara alone in the room, I need to meet her and see if she was awake.
She was standing by the balcony, her hair was been swayed by the breeze and her face came into view. I stopped walking and stared at her, I could feel my heart throbbing at her sight.
I gaze at her lips and placed a finger on me, I had kissed those lips of hers, and yet my body is craving for more of her.
‘Snap out of it!’ I half yelled to my wolf, those arousals were probably from him and not me.
‘You’re the one staring at her’ He uttered.
I stared at her for a while and then averted my gaze from her face when she caught me staring. I had to pretend like I had never stared at her.
I hurried into the house, her gaze was following me.
What was wrong with me?
Why was I acting this way? I should walk normally but fuck I couldn’t do it, knowing she was staring at me.
“You’re awake?”
“Yes.” Her hands were on the railings and her back was against me.
“Do you feel better?”
“I have taken some drugs, had some rest, and I do feel a lot better. Vlad, you don’t have to worry about me.”
“I have to, I got home and you were...”
“I’m sorry to have bothered you for acting that way.” She spun around and face me.
“I’m fine, Vlad and I can take care of myself.”
“You’re my responsibility! And I have to take care of you as long as you’re in my house. You’re not alone in this, Samara. So don’t try to push me away.” I raised my voice at her, the words coming out of me before I could stop them.
“You should ask me, where were you? I woke up and I couldn’t find you. Shouldn’t you ask me any of that?”
“I have no right to, Vlad. You can do whatever you want. I have no right to ask you any of that and l do not care if you were right beside me or not.” She turned away and looked ahead of her.
“If you don’t care about me, I cared about you, Samara.”
She scoffed loudly.
“Since when did you care?”
“Since you came back into the pack and I found you you’re the mother of my triplet, I cared and I promised to protect you not just them.”
“You can hate me all you want but it’s not gonna change what I feel.”
She turned and moved from the railings, her brown eyes were fixed on her face.
“What do you feel because you saw me Vulnerable, and you think you have the right to pity me? I do not need your pity, Vlad!” She screamed in my face, her fingers stabbing into my chest.
“I do not need you to pity! Me!” She stormed away from the balcony.
I went over to the spot she was and ran a finger over my hair. She didn’t even let me say a word to her.
Fuck.
That wasn’t what I wanted to say.
