Chapter 15

~Samara~

When I woke up and I was alone on the bed, and I thought it was a dream that Vlad was here and comforted me. It must have been the effect of the drugs that I had seen him.

Vlad would never be the one to care for me, so I had never hoped for it.

“You’re awake, Samara,” Maya said placing a tray containing some food on the side table.

I had no appetite for food at all and I don’t know how to tell her about it.

Seeing the effort she must have made to do this for me and she was the one who had taken care of me earlier in the bathroom.

“The Alpha stepped out for a while, he’ll be back soon and he asked me to get you anything you would need.” She sat at the edge of the bed.

“He was here?”

She nodded at my question, and that means I hadn’t dreamed about it at all.

“He came immediately I told him what was happening, he was really worried about you.”

Worried?

I scoffed.

Vlad was an unbothered man. If only she knew about that, he would never be worried about me, probably had another motive for hurrying down here as she said.

“Where is he now?”

“I don’t know where he was headed when he left the house. It did seem like he had something important that he wanted to do when he left, he was looking very serious.”

I rolled my eyes.

He looked just like that, I hadn’t seen him smile, not a genuine smile on his face.

“Do you need help with the food?”

I shook my head and takes off the duvet from my body.

“I’ll them eat later,” I answered and was keeping my drugs properly in the drawers.

“Seeing you have so many drugs, does it happen all the time? I mean, I don’t mean to pry. I just want to know so I can be of help to you, you can visit the pack hospital for some therapy.” She muttered quietly, I smiled sweetly at her and took my gaze away.

It didn’t start today, therapy didn’t work for me and I settled to take drugs to calm my nerves.

It started when I was seeing my foster father in my dreams each night, I get the memories of what happened in my past replayed in front of me.

I started to get so scared of harsh words, threats, and scary dreams but because of my children, I had to be strong for them.

I pretended everything was fine with me, there was no reason for me to worry at all.

“It’s fine. Maya.” I took a shawl and wrapped them over my shoulders.

“Alright, Ma.”

“Samara I told you to call me that,“ She might even be older than me.

“How old are you, Maya?”

“I’m twenty-six.” She points a finger at herself. I did guess right, she was a year older.

“That’s an old question to ask.” She mouthed.

I chuckled lightly. She was the closest to me since I arrived at the pack and she liked her warm-hearted and she was open and free. That was the kind of person I used to be.

“I need some air. I’ll be at the balcony for a while.”

I walked out leaving her in the room and head out to the balcony.

I held the railings and breathed out deeply, I remembered how Vlad came into the room and hold me, pulling me into his arms. It felt as if it was real and as if it wasn’t.

Then I saw him, standing and looking up at me. I felt a sudden warmth in my heart just staring at Vlad and I blinked my eyes and looked away when he hurriedly walked into the house.

I wasn’t bothered about Vlad.

I shouldn’t be, there was nothing between us anymore. So there was no need for me to feel anxious any time that I was close to him.

“You’re awake?” His voice sounded a bit tired and worried but I still doubt if it was all directed at me.

I hate it when I get pitied, if that's what Vlad thinks of me, then I’m not gonna have it.

I lashed out at it and left him on the balcony since he decided to ruin the perfect moment I was having.

All I know it was all a pretense.

“Samara, wait!”

He came after me and grasp my hand and spun around to face him.

“I was worried about you,” He whispered and yelled as if he didn’t want to be heard.

“Let go of me, Vlad.” I struggled to break free from his hold.

“Can’t you see that my intentions towards you are real? What else I’m going to do to show you that...” He pursed his lips and stared down at my hand.

I tried to free my wrist from his grip but he held them firmly.

“I came home from work because of you and this is how you’re gonna react.” He muttered.

“I never asked you to, Vlad.” I frowned at him.

“What should I have done? Ignore you or pretend that I didn’t care!”

“You were good at it.” I retort sharply, I see the hurt in his eyes and it faded out as if it wasn’t there. He let go of my wrist slowly and dropped his hands at his side.

“That’s what you think of me.” He moves his head to the side.

“That’s not what I think of you, that’s how I know you to be.” I walked past him with my shoulder brushing him off, I walked back to my room and slammed the door, slowly sliding down on the ground with my hands wrapped around my body.

I had to guard my heart, I do not want to think of getting hurt again not after what I went through.

I do not want to go through that pain again.

“Are you okay, Samara?” I heard Maya’s voice outside the door.

I wiped my eyes and stoop up from the ground.

“I’m fine. Maya do not worry,”

“I heard voices so I thought...”

“I’ll send for you when I need you.” I strolled away from the side of the door to the bed and lay on it. My phone was on the table but with a cracked screen, the detectives had asked me to stay in touch.

I doubt if they won’t be able to contact me now, and I was far away from them.

The fact that the intruder had called me without having my contact means my children are with him. They must have given it to him.

‘You promised not to cry, Sam.’ My wolf said to me.

‘I can’t help it. Imagine how I felt when I heard those words and thought of the children, how would they feel? They are all by themselves.’

‘Vlad promised to find them, you should trust him.’ Her voice was calm.

I heard her often now but when I left the pack I never heard from her, well. That was because of what I did.

‘I do. I trust him, that’s why I came back to the pack because I thought he would be the only one that can help me but it’s taking so long, I’m tired of waiting and doing nothing.’ I wiped the tears from my eyes.

‘So what do you suggest we do?’

‘Find them in our way,’

‘We don’t have a clue, it’s gonna be risky and reckless if you want to act on your own.’

I sighed and held onto the pillow, staring at the picture frame of the triplet and me.

There was another picture of Nanny Yuri and the boys, I took them and traces my fingers on their faces.

Everyone close to my heart is in danger.

Yuri hasn’t recovered yet, she was still in a coma and the children are still missing.

I knew this was going to happen, I should have treated Nanny Yuri better. She ended up this way because of me because she was trying to protect my children.

She was only human, there was no way she could fight against them.

‘Do not blame yourself, it happened and it wasn’t your fault it happened.’

‘I can’t help it’ I cried into the pillow.

I wished it hadn’t happened at all and none of them was in danger, I do not want to lose them.

‘I’m scared of losing them.’

‘Sam, trust me you won’t lose them, I won’t let it happen and neither would Vlad. Xylan is working hard to find a witch who could track them so you need to hold.” She took in a deep breath.

‘Samara, you are no longer alone. Vlad is ready to protect you. Am I here as well? We are not gonna leave your side.’

I smiled and sniffed at the comforting words from my wolf.

I wasn’t alone anymore.
