Killian’s POV

“If this person didn’t have a death wish, I wonder what else would make him call me so many times in a row,” I mumbled under my breath as I turned off the black power bike after revving the engine several times to alert everyone in the pack house of his presence.

Dipping my hand into my breast pocket, I reached out for his phone placed it on silence returned it to the pocket I had taken it from and immediately resumed fiddling with the rope of my helmet to unclip it from my neck before I stepped down from the bike to find a safe parking space for it.

I looked around and didn’t see a space befitting enough to provide shade for my bike till I moved very close to the gazebo. I noticed that some of the guards who hung around the perimeter stared at me in astonishment. They weren't expecting to see me back so early let alone see me zoom in with a power bike.

I wasn't even expecting myself to do that either but Elder Favian's ploy in collaboration with those of the assembly to pick a Luna for me propelled me into an impromptu journey. I had to run leap far away from the nonsense Elder Favian had up his sleeves. The only people who knew about my leaving were my beta and the pack doctor.

Of all the places to run to, Alpha Simeon's place comes to mind. Who would have thought that I would one day come to take refuge in my arch-rival's house? Even though tables do turn, I didn't expect my turn to be this drastic and swift. Life has a way of teaching us the things that truly matter and the things to let go of as we journey through it. How ironic.

I looked around for a sign of a living soul in the house. The park house seemed too quiet. I couldn't hear the bubbly giggles of Aurora's kids. Michelle wasn't even handy. She should possibly be with the kids wherever they are. I found a couple of maids going about their duties, some carrying in baskets of dirty clothes that needed to be washed while the others busied themselves with mopping the floor meticulously.

I took my time to look everywhere. The only place I knew I didn't check was the training ground. It was a large expanse of land situated at the back of the pack house. The open space with little grasses growing sparingly on some patches of the land could contain an overflow of five hundred people or more. It was one of the many things that distinguished Alpha Simeon's pack from the rest of the packs.

I found Mike, the gym instructor demonstrating some moves for the rest of the group to follow suit. Amongst the group that practised with him was Aurora and a lady who had a striking resemblance to Alpha Simeon. I was careful enough to stand aloof, hiding behind a large pillar near the shade that was provided, watching the various waist twists and snapping of muscles as the practice continued.

"Where is Alpha Killian? Would he be back in the pack again?" An unfamiliar voice asked. I didn't want to be discovered just yet, so, I took swift steps away from the training ground and was about to exit out totally when I heard Aurora tell one of the trainers that she had seen me around and was sure about what she saw.

I knew my cover had been blown off but I hesitated to reveal myself until one of the warriors found me out. I felt so foolish that the highly regarded Alpha would hide behind a pillar to eavesdrop on the conversation of two ladies in the open. "What are you looking at?" I threw at the warrior to shoo him away.

He recognized what I was trying to do and walked away immediately without uttering a word. I stepped out from my hiding place and approached the two ladies who were discussing in low tones. I recognized one but didn't know who the other one was till we got into a conversation.

"I see that you haven't gotten over your gossip habits. Guess some things never die," I interrupted, sounding a little cocky and conceited. Aurora looked at me without truly looking at me. "Oh, you are the Alpha my brother talked about. Killian right? I am Finnah. Just got back yesterday. It's great to finally meet you in person," she said grinning from ear to ear.

"Alpha Killian is your brother? What a semblance. You sure do have a strong genetic make-up," I complimented, taking her hand in mine as I planted a welcome peck at the back of her palm with great care.

From the corner of my eyes, I could see Aurora already rolling her eyes at me for reasons I do not know. I was not in the least surprised because I knew her to be someone who had always hated my guts. Who knows, this could be one such scenario where she spreads her wings like a mother a mother hen does to tuck in its chicks. I mean, I mean, I wouldn't be stunned if she pulled on that string.

"Finnah is not your type. What is this show of shame you display carelessly?" Aurora said rolling her eyes ball in their sockets like they would fall off any minute. "At least you know what type I like. Hmm.... that is a good start to something great between us, I presume," I said with little care for how she was going to take it. She blinked profusely and spat out another sentence.

I moved closer to her, looking sensually at her. Just then Alpha Simeon walked in seeking to know what was happening. I sustained a wicked grin on my face without backing down from my advances to Aurora.

"I won't have you come in here and force yourself on my beta. You had better take your interest somewhere else or I will help you do it," he threatened.

"I am not a thing to be fought over for. You guys should take a chill pill and prepare for the meeting," she insisted, walking out of the training ground. Her waist tweaked flexibly with every step that she took. I looked at her with admiration till she was out of sight.
