Aurora's POV
"What was that I just saw dramatized a few minutes ago on the training ground?" Finnah asked with furrowed brows, making her look a bit stern. I couldn't say anything thing to her on the go because of was as confused as a square peg trying its best to fit into a round hole.
"Do not tell me you have nothing to do about it," she pointed her finger in a random direction, her face almost flushing with annoyance. Probably, she perceived that I was trying to play around with both men.
"Finnah, what you saw out there has no serious explanation to it," I said dismissively as I dragged a chair from the corner of the room to the brown mahogany table that occupied the centre space of the meeting room.
"Seriously? Are you just going to shut me out of whatever is happening with you and the two Alphas?" She insisted, her lips pursing into a serious look.
"Nothing is happening between me and the two Alphas. If anything was happening, you would have been the first to know about it, Finnah," I appealed, hoping she would drop the topic and focus on the agenda for the meeting that would be happening any moment.
Well, I was wrong, Finnah was too observant and result-oriented to back down. I had always known her to be like that from time but I wanted to believe that she had turned a new leaf. You can see for yourself that she hasn't. "If she claims that nothing is happening between the three of you, then, what would you call what I saw out there?" She asked again.
"What you saw out there is the display of two men who have chosen to act like children. Now, that, is what you saw. You satisfied now?" I replied with a straight face not knowing whether to get mad at the many questions or be happy that someone had finally taken cognizance of my dilemma with both men.
"That is not what it was and you know it. How cold have you grown to the warmth of love knocking at your heart and seeking to find its way into the softness of your bosom?" She asked, a certain kind of pain flashing through her eyes. I would have almost lauded her for her smartness if not that I was almost getting pissed. I had a way of ensuring that I did not wear some of my negative emotions on my sleeve.
I was dumbstruck and unable to reply to her because she was right in all sense of it. I succeeded in brushing off the topic immediately the men walked into the meeting room with long faces like they had been summoned to a deadly feud.
"You are welcome," I said to both men as they approached their seats at the table, "make yourselves comfortable," I added happily. The least I could do was lift the tenseness in the atmosphere and doing so would require my niceness. It doesn't hurt a bit. Does it?
The meeting began with Alpha Killian giving us a brief of what had happened in his pack. He told of how three bodies were found dead in the forest. "What happened to the bodies?" Finnah asked with curiosity in her looks.
"Well, the bodies were taken to the pack doctor to examine. He later told us that the bodies were those of mere humans who were experimented on with the hope of turning them into werewolves, so that their armies would be populated the more," Alpha Killian informed to the amazement of the rest of us seated at the table.
"Little wonder there had been several rumours of the disappearance of certain children at the outskirts of the town where I stayed. I had always taken it to be rumours till one of the mothers of the children came crying for help from the elders on one of the occasions. This is getting out of hand and should be tackled before it escalates further than how it already is," Finnah chipped in with an air of resilience surrounding her every word as she took her seat carefully.
"I know that the rogues are very tactical and strategic in their attacks but what I have failed to understand about their attacks in my pack is why they have chosen to attack Aurora and her kids unrelentingly. It could be anybody else but Aurora. What is the reason for their targeted focus on Aurora?" Alpha Simon aired his concern without restraint.
I was expecting his rhetorical question to stir up another spark of jealousy from Alpha Killian but it didn't. Guess they had taken off their garment of childishness before they stepped into the meeting room.
"Wow, you have got a point there. I didn't see it in that light," Alpha Killian supported, wearing a pensive look. "This is a clear sign that there might be a mole lurking around gathering information on Aurora and her kids and feeding it back to the rogue leaders. I mean, their attacks were precise every time," he continued, demonstrating with hands the seriousness of the situation.
"Surely, there's got to be a mole in the pack, "Alpha Killian joined in, nodding his head in acceptance. I saw it as a very good time to bring up what I nursed in my heart for a while now. "To curtail subsequent attacks from these uncircumcised rogues, it is wise I leave the pack and find someplace to hide my head for the main time," I contributed, peering directly into the faces of Finnah, Killian and Simeon.
Simeon and Killian looked at themselves and swallowed hard before breaking off the gaze. "I will put up strict measures to reduce the attacks, you do not have to leave the pack. You can move in. Your kids will be protected and there is more than enough room for you and the kids," Alpha Simeon encouraged with a high measure of seriousness in his voice.
I could see Finnah nodding her head to what her brother said. "I would be moving in too, so, you have nothing to worry about," Killian added without looking at Simeon who was visibly annoyed at his audacity.
