CHAPTER FIFTY
MAX’S POV
I have been stormed out of my room in anger, how can my prisoner be her mother, that woman killed my sister.
That day, my little sister was playing in the rain, along the road of our pack, while I was having sex with one of my maids in my carriage, although my sister didn't know that.
I was having fun when I heard a loud smash on the floor, I rushed out only to find my sister in a pool of her blood, and the lady begging for my help.
My sister died at the spot, so I took the lady in, treated her and for three years, I have been patiently waiting for her full recovery so she could pay for killing my sister.
“Take me to Raymond’s house” I instructed the guard, as I hopped into my carriage, my head filled with questions.
I knew there was something off when she said Zaria’s name but I never thought too much of it, probably Raymond and I had said it in her presence.
Arrggg, why do things have to be so complicated with her? Why is the moon goddess against Zaria and My union?
The carriage started, and I stared out the window. I didn't care who the woman was to Zaria; she must pay for what she had done.
Soon, the carriage stopped in front of Raymond’s house.
I got out and found him sitting in his rocking chair, having a glass of wine.
“Look who came visiting today,” Raymond yelled with a wide smile on his face.
“There is trouble, so wipe that smile off your face” I huffed, sitting in the chair opposite him.
He pushed his glass of wine aside and turned to look at me. “Don't tell me Zaria is dead”
“What!” I snapped at him, my eyes burning with anger.
“Calm down, I was just curious” He scoffed.
Zaria and I aren't on good terms but I can't bear anything bad happening to her, or even hearing it.
“It's about her though?” he asked, after a few minutes of silence.
“Yes, her mother is our prisoner, or rather my prisoner” I said, almost in a whisper.
Raymond's eyes widened in surprise, as he pressed his lips together.
“I know it is shocking, I find it hard to believe,” I shrugged.
“How the fuck do you even know this?” He arches his eyebrows.
“She seemed in and found her mother there” I said, staring at the floor.
I can't lose Zaria, yet I can't forgive her mother for taking my sister’s life. The wound is too fresh to close, without revenge.
“She is going to tell people that you imprisoned a woman unjustly” Raymond panicked.
“I am the Alpha!” I reminded him, grabbing a stick of cigarettes that lay on his table.
I lit it and took a long drag. I fucking needed that.
“Max, I am not!” he yelled, “I have worked hard, and sacrificed a lot to get to where I am, and I'm not planning to let all that go”
What the fuck has he sacrificed? He inherited this position from his father.
“Tell me about it” I kicked, spraying the smoke in the air restlessly.
“What are you going to do about this?” he asked, ignoring my mockery.
“Nothing, Zaria won't say anything, at least not yet” I replied, absentmindedly. “But that's not why I am here”
“Why are you here then?” He asked rudely, still staring at me.
“I need to figure out a punishment for her mother before letting her go, but I don't want Zaria involved” I whispered, looking around suspiciously, to ensure Raymond’s wife and children are near us.
Raymond laughed loudly, then got up and stood on his feet.
“You aren't serious?” he asked, choking in his laughter.
“I am” I stated, looking confused.
“I am at the brink of losing my life and all you care about is how to punish your girl’s mother without her knowledge” he growled, his eyes burning red.
I have never seen Raymond that angry, what does he even mean by losing his life? If the villagers find out about Zaria’s mother we would only get a query, he has kept her hostage for only three years.
“You need to calm down, it's not…”
“Get out!” Raymond growled at me.
I stood up stunned. I hardly visit him, but the few times I have he has never driven me out of his house. I barely quarreled in our friendship.
Raymond is behaving weirdly, and I have no idea why.
“Are you serious?” I scoffed.
Raymond turned to the wall and nodded his head.
I turned to take my leave when I got a glimpse of an envelope, hidden between his windows.
It seemed like a secret, so I silently took it and headed to my carriage without looking back.
There is something off about him, I just hope it isn't that serious.
I hopped into my carriage and we headed to the palace. I took the envelope out and it had the sign of Moonsharow’s pack, a werewolf circled a stick.
Elara’s warning rang in my ear, my curiosity increased and I ripped the letter open.
It read;
“Bring the keys to the secluded corridor and some Venom or else the whole pack would know your true sexuality
My mouth opened in shock, as I held the letter tightly, my vision getting blurry with tears.
Raymond is my best friend and most trusted person among the board members.Hhow would he do this to the woman I loved?
In anger, I formed a ball with the letter and threw it out the window.
“Turn the carriage around!” I yelled to the royal rider
“Where are we heading to your Grace?” The rider asked, turning the carriage around.
“We are going to Raymond’s house,” I replied.
I am going to have his head on a golden platter and force his family to watch the entertainment.
