CHAPTER 20

After that, they saw at dinner that the room seemed to have been filled with what she could only have experienced with fear. Her heart raced against her chest as she tried to make sense of what she had encountered before her.

She couldn't believe that what she had seen was true. She had known that the Luna trial would get ugly and that it would serve as a challenge to those who dared to participate, but the last thing that she had thought was that it would solve the problem of blood and gore. Those were not things that she was accustomed to. As she returned her attention to her performance, she felt a wave of tenderness wash over her.

She cleared her throat as she felt a hand on her own. She looked to her side and saw that it was Nroa. She gave her a state of comfort as well as a reassuring smile before she nodded her head at her. "Don't worry. I assure you that everything will be alright." She said to her, and she let out a sigh from her lips as she nodded her head.

Well, now that we have been able to get that little pesky problem out of the way, I hope we can all turn back to our meals and actually enjoy them. I still have a lot to learn from you." He said this as he let out a thick laugh.

"Suddenly this doesn't seem appetizing." She heard the girl mutter. "Tell me about it. I had thought that this would be nothing more than a test of wits, but it's proving to be something much more than that. I am not sure if I can do this. I don't think this is what I signed up for." She said.

She watched as the girl let out a sigh from her looks as she offered her a small, sad smile. "My name is Rita and I know that we got off on the wrong foot but I assure you that everything will work out fine in the end. You shouldn't panic; it will be alright." She said to her, and she watched as she took a deep breath before nodding her head.

Some of the other girls seemed unfazed by it all, and it made Amelia wonder if she had been the only one who was somewhat immune to what was going on. She couldn't understand how or why they were able to continue with their activities so casually.

"So alpha tell ya. What do you plan on having us do for the trials". She heard one of the bones call out in a sinister tone. She gulped lightly AS she let her throat become scratchy. She watched as she cleared her throat.

"Alright, that is for me to know and for you to be able to mind your business, and so I believe that it is not any of your concern. You will find out when the trials start. But for now, it's none of that. We still have a long way to go before we reach that stage." He said to Hybem

"What do you mean? You said that we would take the trial, and whoever won would get to be the luna. Sunlle." One of the girls called out They watched as he shook his head before letting out a chuckle.

"You think that becoming my mate means that, simply, you will have another thing coming for you. It takes a lot for you to be kind to her, as it's much more than being able to wear frilly outfits and fancy dresses. Before you take the trial, There are those who may not even reach that stage. I must analyze myself first. I must see if you are willing and up to the task. I will not simply hand over the rates of everyone here to some acreage girl. Once the other one is tomorrow, you will know the tour date." He said.

The room fell into simplicity as Amelia weighed his words. She couldn't believe the worst that he had said, and for a moment, it felt like wand paper scraping against her tongue.

She watched as the next meal was placed before her. It was something called toad ball soup from the water kingdom. She stared at the clotting balls of flour dough as she tried not to throw up. She knew that they looked good, and there were those who would have been thrilled to have eaten something like that. But for her, she thought she was simply not in the mold.

The rest of the dinner went by fast, and she was grateful for that. She was even more grateful.

What happened when the Alpha stood up slowly from his chair and made the decision to excuse himself from the table? She felt as though she could finally breathe again.

She watched as the men slowly stood up to leave, and eventually it was just the girls that were left behind. For some, it might have seemed strange or somewhat ridiculous to think that she was being pinned against others, and for that reason, they all had a similar look.

So girls, how about we learn more about each other?" The girl who had said it at the end spoke up. She had bright red hair and red eyes, and it was clear that she was from the fire kingdom.

Well, I would rather not. We aren't here to play games or make friends. We are here to win". Another spoke up, and the girl huffed as she rolled her eyes at her in response. She cared little for the tantrum that she threw.

Well, if I were you, I would pay attention; after all, I am his destined mate". She spoke.
