CHAPTER 17
Amelia was left frozen in her spit as she inhaled the all-too-familiar musky scent. She knew that it was him instantly, even before he had walked into the room. It seemed as though even when she didn't want to be around him and even when she was so desperate to avoid him, he seemed to encompass all of her thoughts. She couldn't find a way to stay away.
She watched as the large double doors were pulled open, and she felt her eyes widen as she took in the sight of him. He was wearing what appeared to be a long robe and was heavily decorated with medals. He had a long cape draped around his shoulders and a heavily jeweled crown that rested firmly on his head.
He exuded power, and everyone in the room seemed to be able to tell that. They found themselves resisting the urge to power their heads in respect.
"Okay. I needed that he would be handsome, but I hadn't thought that he would be this fine." She heard the girl beside her whisper. She chuckled, and it was only when she watched as the rest of the people turned towards her that she realized that she had said it a little too loudly.
She felt his eyes trained on her intensely, and she gulped, feeling her throat dry up, and his face seemed to almost stare right through her soul. She squirmed in her seat as she willed for him to release her from his intense gaze.
It was only after the trumpet had blown again that he seemed to snap out of his trance. Well, it was something. I swear it appeared as though he was staring right through me. Anyway, my name is Nora, and I am from the air kingdom, like you." She asked as she offered Amelia her hand.
Uhmm, Amelia from the earth kingdom." She said to her with a slight blush. She had thought that he would be hesitant around her seeing as those two kingdoms were enemies of one another, but she watched as he smiled at her firmly with a grin.
Well, I see that we are worthy opponents. I guess you are the one who had the ability to put a stop to me." She said to her, and she only shook her head.
Actually, I can't. I don't have powers". She whispered, feeling embarrassed. She just didn't want to lose a potential friend simply because she would fear her.
She watched as her face fell before it lit up after a moment. "That is fine. I am sure that you have other skills that can help." She said to her, and she reached out to pat her head. Amelia couldn't help but blush at the action; she didn't know why, but she felt as though she was being addressed like a child.
.
She was quick to swat away the hand from her head as she gave her a deep glare. Well, at heart, though, I know that I don't have to worry about my own competition either, seeing as you can barely use your air." She said to her, and she couldn't help but feel as her fourth formed into an o. She had no idea where the words had come from, and she hadn't usually seen anything that harsh.
She watched as she looked over at her in confusion but understood what she had, and she was glad for that. What Sue had in fact been referring to was her wild hair. "Haha. You know I chose to style my hair this way. It is called a creative choice." She said to her in triumph.
She couldn't help but chuckle. And Amelia felt as though he was finally getting the upper hand. She hadn't seen any of the others conversing with one another, and there was a part of her that wondered why that was.
She turned to her left to see a girl slip in and have a hold over her head, and she furrowed her eyebrows at the sight of her. She hadn't been aware that people were allowed to wear hoods when they came in, but she got the idea that it probably had something to do with the fact that everyone there had their own creative choice. She knew that wasn't her place to judge, and she realized that it was good for her to make more than one friend and that it would serve her well to help her out.
Well, how are you? My name is Amelia ''. She said to her girl, and she watched as she stilled. She looked up at her and widened her eyes when she noticed that her eyes were blurry.
She didn't understand it at first, but when she saw that she wasn't following her gaze, she felt as if something clicked inside of her. It was at that moment that she realized that the girl was blind. Her mouth formed an O.
"Hmm, I am sorry." She said to her in a mutter. "And why would you be the one to apologize if it is because you find me intimidating because I am blind?" The girl said this to her, and she felt herself begin to panic.
Luckily, they were pulled out of their thoughts when they heard the sound of a fork being turned against a glass. They watched as the Alpha stood up to his feet.
