Chapter 38

Chapter 38
JOIN OR DIE

Jimmy and Thompson sat in a small restaurant by the edge of New Orleans eating hotdogs and doughnuts. It was mostly Thompson doing the eating and not Jimmy though.
Jimmy only stared at him strangely wondering how he could eat the two snacks at the same time like they complimented each other.
Thompson noticed Jimmy's weird stares and he raised his head from his box of doughnuts. "What?" He asked with a sneer.
"How are you able to eat all of that at the same time?" Jimmy asked, morphing his face into a scowl. He could not imagine how his partner was managing to swallow such a combination.
Thompson looked down at his meal and shrugged. "Same way you are eating your spaghetti and meatballs."
"That doesn't have anything to do with what you are eating. This is real food!" Jimmy said pointing at his meal, "and that, is a bad blend of junk," Jimmy stated. It didn't make any sense to him how Thompson could be eating two things at a time. He knew that people had strange cravings and habits but he had never seen it up close.
"You don't know what you are missing," Thompson said, shaking his head as he enjoyed his snacks.
Jimmy decided to keep his comment to himself and ate on in silence.
They were both trying to pass time, so they could forget their problems. Their career was at stake with the happenings of the case they were giving. Thinking about it only made it harder. The case got more complicated by the minute, yet the state department was pushing it under the rug.
So, after they left the murder scene, they decided to come to get a good amount of food into their bellies before they would decide what the next move they would be taking would be.
They finished eating and the waitress came to pack their plates. As she bent over to pick up the plates her large breasts almost spilled out of her dress. Thompson whistled as he felt his groin tighten at the sight in front of him. He hadn't paid her any attention when she came with their order or was that a different waitress?
"You need help with that sweetheart?"
Thompson muttered to the waitress who tried to adjust her dress with one hand while the other held the tray. She juggled her legs making her breast bounce, even more, causing Thompson to drool at the softness it promised to have.
"Oh, yeah, these babies can become a burden sometimes..." She said, batting her eyes like a cartoon character, yet somehow it gave Thompson a hard-on. He jumped to his feet, staring lustfully at her.
Jimmy raised his brow watching the both of them display. The lady dumped the plates on Thompson and wiped her hands on her skimpy dress, seductively.
"You are such a darling," she whispered tracing a hand across Thompson's chest. "Come let us go!" She chirped, leading him to the kitchen.
"Are you going with her?" Jimmy asked in surprise.
"Where else will I be?" Thompson mouthed trailing after the waitress, his eyes sparkling with lust.
Jimmy glared coldly at him but there was nothing he could do. Young police officers these days were always prone to young women with large breasts and butts. He would rather spend time in his wife's arms, than a public woman. But what could he do, just because he couldn't engage in such acts didn't mean he would have to stop him.
He dipped his hands into his chest pocket and brought out a picture of his wife and daughter. The brunette was carrying a toddler and they were both smiling widely at the camera.
Jimmy sighed. He missed his family. Maybe he should just go home to them and forget everything. He pulled out his phone and dialed his wife's number.
"Heyo, you!" The voice of his two-year-old daughter came up on the phone instead, Jimmy smiled at the sound of her sweet innocent voice. Her mother must have been slow in answering so she thought to pick it up first.
"Hey baby, it's daddy. Is mummy there?" Jimmy said to the phone.
"Daddy! Daddy! Mammy, it's a daddy!" She cheered happily. With the movements Jimmy was getting through the phone, he could tell she was jumping in excitement.
"Mammy it's a daddy!" She repeated happily.
"Hello, Jimmy?" His wife's tender voice came up on the phone, he could still hear his daughter jumping and calling out for him in the background
"How are you?" Jimmy breathed, happy to hear their voices.
"Are you okay? You sound tired." His wife commented. She was always good at detecting his moods.
"I am fine, baby. I am just happy to hear your voices," he said with all sincerity. He was tired but he was also glad to hear from them.
"Jimmy, you talk like you are in Afghanistan or something. Why not come home right now? I heard the case was closed. What else are you doing back there?" His wife stated and Jimmy felt a prick in his heart.
The case wasn't near the end. Too many deaths were now associated with it and It was no longer in one state. A lot of other people were involved, yet, the state police department of Southern California, closed it down for reasons he had to uncover. How was he going to explain that to his wife! He didn't know if he should tell his wife the truth about the case or let her be for her safety.
"Baby, I have paperwork I need to finish here before returning. But be rest assured. I'll be home soon."
"Okay. Rosa and I will be waiting for your return," his wife said and Jimmy could hear the smile in her voice
"I love you both very much," Jimmy whispered.
"We love you too. Rosa come to say goodbye to daddy!" She called out to their little daughter who had most likely waddled her way around the house in search of her toy phone.
"Here, say daddy goodbye!" Jimmy's wife told their daughter.
The little girl's voice soon came upon the phone repeating her mother's words. "Daddy baba!"
"Bye-bye sweetheart," Jimmy said with a smile before ending the call.
The state department had told everyone the case was closed when in reality it wasn't. Jimmy was starting to wonder how Mike would be taking it where ever he was.

Thompson on the other hand was in the kitchen with the waitress, following after her like a lost poppy.
"I see you love titties don't you?" The waitress cooed into his ears.
Thompson dropped the plates on the counter and pulled the woman into him.
"I love everything about you darling," he replied in a hoarse voice. He then buried his nose into the large mound of breasts in front of him.
When was the last time he had a good woman in his arms? -he thought.
He started placing kisses on the woman's breasts, taking his time to enjoy the softness of her skin.
"Slow down hot guy, not here, others will be back!" She moaned, pushing his face away from her. "Let's go to the back!" She instructed, turning around to shuffle away from the kitchen.
Thompson's cock was already throbbing in his pants and he needed a release badly. He didn't care if the woman led him to the toilet as long as he was going to get in between her legs, then he had no problem.
"What's your name pretty?" Thompson whispered as he trailed after her.
"They call me Emily, " she muttered.
They passed a couple of doors until they got to the very back of the kitchen, where Emily pushed the last door open. She moved out and being so turned on, Thompson followed blindly behind her.
Outside, Thompson was shocked to find Carter and some men in black waiting for him.
Emily walked to Carter and he passed her an envelope, which Thompson was certain contained money. She took the envelope and passed by him to return to the restaurant, leaving Thompson to his misery.
"What's going on?" He asked, a frown growing on his face.
Carter bent his neck to the side, cracking it loudly before opening his mouth. "I thought I told you to return home, why are you still here?" Carter growled.
"We are returning. We just stopped by to get something to eat and then proceed," Thompson growled.
He was angry. Not because Carter was right here with some men, but because he needed a release and Carter just ruined his chances.
"Are you sure that's the reason you are still here? Don't lie to me, Thompson. You are a small-town detective that got the gig of a lifetime, I am sure you don't want to mess up." Carter was saying and Thompson wiped the anger off his mind for a second trying to understand what Carter was trying to say to him.
"You are still young and you have a lot of years ahead of you to grow your career. I wouldn't want you to make the same mistake Jimmy is making." Carter started pacing around him, making his speech even more suspicious.
"But you told everyone a lie." Thompson blurted out without thinking.
"What lies?" Carter asked, taken aback.
"You told everyone that the case is closed and it was a murder case and that Laila Dancers has been found. When we all know she isn't. Why did you lie?" Thompson asked folding his arms across his chest.
Carter was quiet for a moment as he thought of the perfect answer to give the boy. Slowly a smirk grew on his lip as an idea occurred to him
"I see you heard of that. You see, our job is very political. we can't do anything without the approval of the government. You know about the incoming election, don't you?" Carter asked feigning a serious face.
Thompson frowned but he nodded nevertheless, remembering about the election that was happening in a few months.
"Good." Carter praised. "I have the governor's best interest at heart. I can't don't anything but let the people believe the case has been closed, do you understand?" Carter asked him.
"I do understand even if I know its wrong," Thompson retorted.
Carter's smirk grew bigger as he starred at the young detective. "I like you. You are really smart."
Thompson narrowed his eyes at him and got angry all over again. He could have been having a nice time with some women in this town and Carter had to ruin it by bribing that waitress with large breasts. Now he was telling him about being smart. Who cared about the smartest when they had a hard-on as painful as his?
"Is this why you came here?" Thompson snapped unable to control his anger anymore.
"No." Carter calmly said.
"Why then are you here?"
"I want you to work directly for me." Carter dipped his hands into his pocket and stared at him.
