Chapter 154 CHAPTER 154
Rosaleen's POV
Roman fucking Reign!
Just when I thought I had only Evelyn Moon to deal with, he shows his ugly head. The picture of his smiling face as he shook my hand haunted me during the shopping. Megan was whispering about how much she'd hear about him. I was in a sour mood.
What the hell was Anna doing with Alpha Roman?
I thought I'd buried him for good after I ranked his business. His return could only mean one thing. He didn't need to say it or spell it out. He was back for revenge. But I wasn't going to let him. Not after everything I'd endured and suffered.
I decided to ask more about him from Anna without letting her know I knew him. She was sizing a new pair of boots with a dissatisfied look on her face. Alpha Roman had stepped out briefly. I pretended to be interested in sourcing close to her and walked to the stall where she stood.
“Those boots are always in limited edition,” I said.
She scrutinized the shoe. “So she said,” she replied, referring to the shopping assistant. “But I'm sure I've seen this on a show.”
I wasn't bothered about her shows or boots.
“Was that where you met Alpha Roman Reign?”
She blushed and her face softened. Her eyes gleamed at the mention of his name. “I met him at the airport on my return flight.”
“Ohh,” I said.
“He crashed into me,” she said, her fingers fiddling with the straps on the boot. “I was mad for only half a second. Who can remain mad at that face?” She giggled.
“So is he the one this time?” I asked.
She let out a sigh of exasperation. “You're too old school, Rosaleen. We just met.”
I nodded. I hoped he was one of her few flings. I hope he hasn't come to stay. I was about to ask her about his company when he walked in.
Our eyes met briefly and my heart thunder against my chest.
He was holding some paper bags in his hands.
“I bought some refreshments for the ladies,” he said, stretching a bag to me.
I collected it quickly, hoping no one had seen my trembling hand.
“Thanks,” I whispered and walked away.
I found the bathroom and thrashed the paper bag without looking at whatever was inside.
“Fuck!” I yelled at the empty space. I needed him gone.
I turned on the faucet and let the sound of running water distract me a little. I bent over the sink and tried to steady my breath.
He's just a stumbling block, I said to myself. I could get rid of him like I did with the others.
I raised my head up and I caught my reflection in the mirror. I was going to make sure I buried him in a grave he could never dig himself out from again. I searched my face for signs of the scar. It was not visible. I had to make sure.
I pulled out my concealer from my bag and added more layers over it. I inspected it for a few more minutes before I left the bathroom. Just as I took a turn, I almost bumped into Roman.
My heart felt like it was about to pound out through my chest.
I stuttered. “R..Roman.”
He had a calm expression on his face that unnerved and annoyed me. I should be the one that was keeping cool. Why was I fretting?
“You remember my name,” he said. “This evening you looked at me like I was a stranger.”
I stepped closer. “What the hell are you doing with Anna? Is this some sort of way to get vengeance?”
He laughed, stiffly and bitterly. “This is more than you think.”
“Stay away from her. Stay away from us or else I’ll be forced to do something drastic. You should remember that I don’t bark. I’m giving you a fair warning.”
His face remained expressionless. “Stay out of my way, Rosaleen.”
He bumped my shoulder as he passed by. I stumbled and hit the wall. I cursed him and bit my lips.
Fucking ghosts that refuse to die. He and Evelyn Moon.
Anna was taking selfies and trying and deleting captions for her posts.
“I need something that will turn heads,” she grunted.
I wanted to tell her that she needed some sense in her head first.
“Roman is not good for you,” I said suddenly.
She looked at me. “Why?”
“He had history with your step sister. How can you want him? He’s definitely with you for the money. Or to get closer to Evelyn Moon.”
She laughed and crossed her legs. “But it’s funny that you’d say that to me, Rosaleen. You married my brother for his money too. You aren’t the only gold digger allowed, babes.”
I let myself express my anger this time. “Don’t talk to me that way, Anna. I love Alpha Michael and you are also here for the money.”
She rose up. “Exactly. So stop judging people like us.” She picked a mini dress and placed it against her body. “What do you think? I love it even though it’s too simple.”
It looked tasteless.
“It’s pretty,” I replied.
She checked it in the mirror and finally added it to her growing pile. Anna was the extreme form of me, and I couldn’t believe how much I’d come to despise her.
They decided to go swimming in the private swimming area after shopping. Two other friends of Anna joined us there. I sat on a recliner, pretending to be busy when anyone asked me to join them. I was already regretting this vacation I thought I was having. A proper vacation would be with Alpha Michael. Alone.
Megan stepped out of the pool and wrapped a towel around her, which clinging to her body and exaggerated the sway of her hips. I knew she was seeking attention - Roman’s attention. She approached me, mischief in her eyes and immediately, I knew what she was planning.
She wanted to throw me into the pool.
She got to me before I could say stop and she yelled at the others to help her. Anna knew but
she kept silent, watching in amusement as Megan and three others hauled me from my chair into the pool.
