Chapter 141 CHAPTER 141
Michael’s POV
“Your granson?” I asked, wondering if this was a plot to kill my child.
“Yes,” he replied. “My grandson.”
I decided to trust him. We went together to the special unit where he was laying. He had been born premature, a few weeks before the expected date. He looked so tiny and an oxygen mask was placed over his nose.
“He’s so precious,” he said.
“You think so?” I asked, shocked to hear my father say that to a child he almost killed. A child he had repeatedly rejected.
“I was wrong,” he said. “He looks just like you did when you were born.”
I stared at my son. “I’m waiting for you and Evelyn so we can go back home together,” I said. “Don’t be long.”
When we walked out of the room, I turned to him. “When mum was being rescued, an oxygen mask was placed over her nose. Does that not mean she was alive when she was found?”
He stopped. “Perhaps.”
“I’m sure i saw that. So what happened to her?” I asked.
He looked at me. “Maybe she died on her way to the hospital. I don't know.”
I didn’t want to press for more. I was surprised he even bothered to wait and he had just gone to see his grandson. But I was cautious too. My father was a very dangerous person when he wanted to be.
“I thought I would lose you today,” he said suddenly. “When Jasper called me and told me Evelyn was attacked and badly injured, all I could think of was coming to the ER and holding your lifeless body. And our last conversation was not very pleasant.”He said. “ Thank you for coming back alive.” He patted me on my shoulder.
“I would have died if Evelyn hadn’t saved my life. She risked her life to save me. How could you not love her? Or at least give her a chance?”
He was quiet.
“You said that woman is Anna Moon? Evelyn’s mother?”
“Yes,” I replied. “I noticed you were staring at her for some time.”
He smiled. “Well, for now, I didn't know what she looked like. Secondly, she looks so different from what I had imagined her to be. She looks very delicate.”
I laughed. “She’s fiercer than she looks dad.”
“Putting a face to the object of my manipulation does make me feel a little sad about what I did to her,” he said.
I was shocked by the things he kept saying. It was as if he was drunk.
I stopped walking. “Alpha Raymond, did you take some wine before coming here?”
He scoffed. “I am also a bit of a human. Now that the elections are gone, I can think clearly.”
“I think you owe her an apology. And Evelyn too.”
“An apology is a lot. I’ll say hello when we next meet.”
It was sufficient for me.
Jasper brought some food even though there wasn’t much of an appetite for what he brought. We sat in the visitor’s room and laid the food on the table. Anna Moon sat alone, refusing to join our meal.
“Please, try some food,” Alpha Raymond said to her and Jasper locked eyes with me. I smiled back. He was not up to date with recent happenings.
“No, thanks,” She said. “I’m quite okay.”
I watched him. Something was wrong somewhere. I don’t know if it was the presence of Anna that was affecting him or whatever was happening to him that happened before he got to the hospital. But he looked different from the man I knew.
“Please, Anna. Just a spoon at least,” he insisted.
She was shocked that he called her by her name. I was shocked that he insisted that she should have a spoon of food. She leaned forward, picked up a spoonful of soup and sipped it. Then she dropped the spoon and leaned back against the chair.
When Jasper and I were alone, he smiled widely. “What is going on with Alpha Raymond?”
I chuckled. “You missed the part where he went to see his grandson?"
“He did?” He asked in shock
“I’m still in shock,” I said.
He leaned closer, “Do you think he likes Anna Moon?”
“No way, Alpha Raymond liking Anna Moon?”
I stifled a laugh. I had thought about it but why on earth would he even harbour such a feeling or let it grow. Anna was a nine tailed fox he had accused of killing his wife for years. He hated her kind and she hated him for good reason too. “It must be madness for him to feel that way. I think it’s his way of apologising to her.” I said trying to believe my own words.
And i wondered why he felt the need to apologise. Or why he was still in the hospital waiting for a lady he didn’t care about.
“What is the update with Xavier and the others?”
“Xavier suffered some very serious injury. He’s in critical conditon. I couldn’t get the details of his injury,” he said. “The other man who is apparently his father is Ignatio, a hitman.”
“Ignatio?” I asked.
“Yes. He’s been wanted for a number of years. He was part of a gang that was arrested in Barcelona.”
I nodded. “The others?”
“In detention. One of the gang members is missing. He was identified as Sebastian.”
I knew it had to be the one who had blown Evelyn’s head. He was the one I needed to deal with personally. I would dedicate my time to finding him as soon as Evelyn gets better.
“You should get some rest,” I said.
“I have some good news in the midst of all of these,” he said. “Tamara and have made up. We are giving it a chance again.”
I smiled. I was genuinely happy that he and Tamara finally made up.
“Don’t you dare flop it,” I said, hugging him. “I needed some good news badly.”
I found Anna moon later on in the night. She was still awake, her face grave and silent.
“Do you need anything?” I asked her.
She shook her head. I sat down beside her.
“You must have met my father now, and I'm sure you hate even the mere sight of him. He is remorseful for what he did to you. That’s his way of apologising. He’s a proud man.”
I laughed nervously.
She looked at me. “He sees her in me.”
I frowned. “What?” I asked unsure of what she was saying.
“Philly asked me for a favour before she died.”
