Chapter 107 CHAPTER 107
Rosaleen’s POV
A date on a yacht. I looked at the pictures, and my chest tightened. He was right back to Evelyn as soon as she returned. And shamelessly so.
It was time to hit her where it hurt the most and end her once and for all. Everyone will know that Evelyn Moon was also a nine tailed fox and she was back again, using black magic on Alpha Michael.
I sent the pictures, along with the story to my contact. Then I waited. Soon, the news would be out and everyone would see her for who she was.
My phone vibrated and a notification came up. I picked it up, imagining it was a response from my contact blogger. It was a news headline from Barcelona. I saw Xavier’s name and my heart race doubled.
Did Ignatio finally do it? I hope he did. I wanted to see the news that Xavier had been killed in prison.
I read the headline. It wasn’t news about his death. Xavier had escaped from prison.
Sweat formed on my forehead and rolled down. Escaped? I read through the story. He had escaped from prison at night during an organised prison break.
“Shit!” I cursed. “Shit.”
If Xavier was truly out, he was going to come for me. I had to make sure he didn’t get far. He had to be hunted down and killed. I called Ignatio again. Perhaps, it was time for a new hitman because he was getting more and more disappointing.
His line rang, and when he finally picked up, I was already pissed.
“Did you see the news?” I spat out. “You were supposed to take care of him. Why am I hearing that he has escaped?”
“We were supposed to get rid of him last night. The prison break was unexpected,” he said, so calmly that it grated my nerves.
“I need to hear the latest news coming up that he’s been found dead, Ignatio. You have failed me so many times.”
“You’ll get the news soon,” he said and dropped the call.
I was unsettled. I had a bad feeling about Xavier. I thought of his threats the last time we had spoken. He knew that I wanted him dead. He was too dangerous to keep around.
I walked around the room, trying to keep my mind at rest. There seemed to be so many problems coming at me at a time. Flora Dover had been quiet for a while but I was sure she had something up her sleeves. My world was crumbling. I needed to take charge of it once more.
I decided to go shopping as Alpha Michael had advised. If there was anything that was capable of making me happy, it was shopping. I’d shop all afternoon and by the time I returned home by evening, the news of Evelyn Moon would have circulated around New York.
There were about seven bags in my hands filled with designer outfits and shoes, bags and accessories, when I approached the cashier’s counter. Beside me was a woman I didn't recognize at first.
“Tamara?”
She flipped her shades down. She didn’t smile when she recognised me. “Rosaleen,” she said, flatly. “It’s a surprise to see you here.”
She was totally different. I’d heard the news that she was a rich heiress but it still felt unbelievable seeing her.
“Money looks so good on you,” I said.
She chuckled dryly.
“I’m sorry, I had no idea you were a Dover. I mean, we've gotten off on a wrong footing but you and I can still be friends. Right?”
She retrieved her card from the cashier and a young woman helped her pack her items. I pulled out my card and stretched it to the cashier.
“I don’t see how we can be friends, Rosaleen. We are not alike in any way.”
I felt like she had every reason to be angry at me.
“PIN,” the cashier called out and I typed it in.
“Let’s catch up over dinner tonight or tomorrow. Give me a chance to fix this.”
“Insufficient balance,” the cashier called out.
I turned to her. “What?”
“You have insufficient balance for your purchase.”
“That’s not possible.”
Tamara chuckled beside me. “Like I said earlier, we have nothing in common.” She turned away and walked out of the building.
I was too stunned with embarrassment to say a word. I opened my purse and searched for another card. That was the only card I had. Alpha Michel had given it to me for all my expenses. What could be wrong?
“Can you try it again?” I asked, looking around and hoping no one else had noticed my struggles. My bags were too many to suddenly leave at the counter without raising questions.
I typed in the PIN again, and got the same result. I swore at Alpha Michael. Was he doing this on purpose to embarrass me?
I leaned close to her. “You know who I am, right? I’m Alpha Michael Greywood’s fiancee. Rosaleen Blackwood. You can check it up online if you have doubts. This is really embarrassing for me, and it has never happened before. Can I take the items out and sort the bill later today? I’ll make sure you get twice the amount everything costs.”
She reached for the bags on the counter and started dropping them on the floor, beside her. I felt my ears burn with shame. “I can’t do that, ma’am.”
“You are making a mistake,” I said. “Do you have any idea who I am?”
She stopped only for a second. “You are definitely not Alpha Michael Greywood’s fiancee. His real fiance has returned and he announced it a few minutes ago.”
“What? What are you saying?”
A couple of people had noticed what was going on at the counter by now. Colour drained from my face as I pulled out my phone and checked the news. It was true. She
wasn’t lying. Alpha Michael had openly declared that his true mate was Evelyn Moon.
