Chapter Fourteen
Chapter Fourteen
Abigail's POV
They turned to look at me for a second before one of the maids called Sylvia walked up to me with a sneer on her face. I was amazed at the fury that radiated off her in waves. If she had her way she would have made sure that I stopped existing and I was very tired of their antics.
"You dare have the guts to ask me what we are doing?" She replied and tried to smack me across the face but I was quicker so I moved.
She was faster and smacked me across my left cheek which I didn't hesitate to return, stunning everyone to silence. There was a little to what I could take. They weren't going to act like I had done something to deserve their horrifying expressions and mistreatment.
"You dare raise a hand against the head maid? The Luna must be aware of this! You steal the Luna's necklace and still have the guts to slap her? You sure must be punished severely and taught a lesson that you'd never forget!" Clara, the second in command replied.
I was still stupefied by the animosity they were portraying. None of them has managed to tell me what my offense was. I wasn't a thief I didn't start yesterday, I definitely wasn't going to start now. " Why don't you say something else? I see that you're seeking a way to implicate me. I've been out of this house since and you tell me that I stole a necklace?"
"You are a whore and also a thief at the same time. Aren't you ashamed of yourself? You're just a worthless wolfless girl. I wonder what the Alpha even sees in you." Amethyst spoke.
I was confused by the way they took turns firing insults at me.
"You just wait, let's find that necklace in your room then you'll see what I'm truly made of." Sylvia vowed.
I wasn't afraid because I knew that I was innocent but another thought dropped into my mind. What if at the end of the day? Someone had planted it in my room to frame me? "You can't go into my room without my permission. What if one of you drops it there and spins it on me? I know that you hate my guts so much so there's nothing you can't do to make sure that I am framed.
"Yeah, you're right. There's nothing I can't do to make sure that you're in hot soup, I'm sure that I would surely find what I'm looking for in your bag so I don't need to panic at all. I just hope for your sake that you aren't the one with the necklaces because you will suffer.
A shout emanated from my room and my heart skipped a bit when I heard it. Hoping that these people hadn't decided to play a fast one again. It was their usual way of life and I was also ready for them.
"We found it! She's the thief!" Someone shouted.
"Thief! Thief! Take her to the Luna. She deserves punishment. I know that she would try to deny it but it's the truth!"
I was lifted by two powerful guards whom I couldn't fight against. I knew that it was a conspiracy. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was all Laurie's plan so that she could get rid of me.
When we arrived at her quarters, she was smiling at the men who dropped me. I was already feeling dizzy and a bit overwhelmed by being turned over. I held onto the wall for support but someone pushed me away making me almost crash my head against the wall if I didn't break my fall at the last minute.
I sighed, sucking in the pain from the bruise on my hand. It was very common for people to be temperamental and easy to join a mob.
"Kneel before your queen." A foot kicked my back causing it to crack like brisket bones. It was all my father's fault. He was the one who set me up for all of these so I didn't really blame them.
"She's not even remorseful." Someone whispered.
Hello... How was I supposed to show remorse for a crime that I didn't commit? I stared in the direction that the voice came from and saw them hiding behind their crazy leader, Sylvia.
Her eyes reflected glee as she had finally gotten retribution. It was a stupid thing for them to do. I didn't understand what they intended to achieve. If it were me I knew what I was going to do and I didn't mind having to destroy them finally.
"What do you have to say to this before I take my judgment?"
The hall went silent and their gazes fell on me. I wasn't going to say what they were expecting. "I don't have anything to say. Your people say that I stole your necklace. What other way can I defend myself?" I replied.
"Good to hear that... I am free to pass the fair judgment." Laurie said with glee in her tone, "Take her to the guard room and make sure that she begs to death before you stop."
I was stripped and welts of belts adorned my skin but I didn't shake. I had determined to stop crying incessantly after my best friend died when I was nine years old.
"She's not crying, neither is she begging for death." One of the warriors told the other. "We can't kill her to satisfy the Luna's wish. It's absolutely difficult and I don't even want to know why I can't continue inflicting pain on her."
"Don't let the other people know that if not you are going to die in her stead. I think that we should just leave her here so that she could be free from torture for a few days." The second warrior connived.
I was happy that I had people who were sensible enough to know that they were doing the right thing.
"You have to cry for a second even if you don't want to. This will earn you more punishment and you don't know that wicked lady. She would want to push you to your breaking point so I suggest you do something about it." He advised me.
I writhed in pain silently not minding the amount of stress that was involved in getting me to break. It was their business. I was going to remain stoic. That was the only way that I could get over this phase quickly.
"Thank you."
"Oh, she speaks." One of the guards said and they didn't say a word to each other before walking out of the room.
I was happy to be left alone with my thoughts, at least that was the only thing that I owned and I was proud of it. I was glad that I was finally able to get out of the bondage of having to be with certain people.
I could stay in here forever and just be served some food and water while I didn't have to see those faces again. I was in my head space a lot and it really helped me in getting over lots of things. I was happy to have experienced both the good and bad sides of life. I knew what it meant to actually be in wealth.
I traveled back in time to when Jedidiah and I were always thinking about the future and we didn't believe that we could be away from each other for this long. It was a shame how we were pretty much fooling each other. It was very good to have someone else who was seeking the best way to make sure that one progressed.
How did I not even notice the signs that she was sleeping with my mate? I guess I was so invested in the Pack matters so much that I didn't see what was going on right under my nose.
The cell door rattled and I didn't bother to sit upright. They were probably here to check if I had died but thankfully, I hadn't. It was a very bad idea to be with certain people because they were going to destroy my life.
"Good day, I hear that you've been here since morning yet you're claiming to have a strong threshold for pain. You will incur more punishment that way. If you want to escape this hell hole then you have to be very wise." The female said.
I rose properly because it was as if she was reading my mind. " Who are you?"
"Just someone who is ready to help you out of your misery." I glared at her. I knew that she was lying. If she could help why then didn't she do anything in getting out of this mess?
"I won't take you seriously if you don't tell me your name."
"Just call me your friend. I will be here to guide you so that you don't lose anything."
