Chapter 110
Brenda.
When Hunter mentioned he knew that I had gone to the Blue Moon Pack and reported Helene's location to her father, every fiber of my being froze in shock and I didn't know how to react.
The last thing I expected was for him to find out anything about that at all and I immediately became nervous.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, trying to deny it in a way just in case he wasn't certain and was only trying to test me.
"Are you seriously asking me what I'm talking about? Do you shamelessly want to try to deny that you didn't go that far?" he asked.
I scoffed. "If you want to go around throwing accusations, why don't you come at me with the appropriate evidence to prove your claim?" I fired back at him.
I wasn't going to admit in front of him that I did what he was accusing me of until I confirmed that he was certain and that he had evidence to prove that I did go to the north.
"Evidence? You want evidence?" he scoffed.
"I wasn't expecting you to admit it so thank you for not disappointing me. The fact that you want to play with my intelligence by denying something that I'm already very certain about and for your information, I also have just enough evidence on when you went and who you went with, makes me laugh, Brenda. I should have realized that you were up to no good as soon as you left here to go stay with that deranged mother of yours," he insulted and my blood boiled.
"Say what you want about me but don't you dare bring my mother into this or insult her. Fine then, I admit it! I want the one who told that bitch's father where she was so that he can come to get his useless daughter that's doing nothing but ruining my life. What's so wrong with that? It's not like I hurt anyone, or did I?" I responded defensively.
I hated that he insulted my mother and I just decided to admit that I did what he was accusing me of since there was no point denying it any longer.
"So in that stupid head of yours, you don't see how your stupid decision could have hurt people? Do you realize that man went as far as threatening to fight with us if we didn't return his daughter to him and knowing how unpleasant things are over here, do you not see how problematic your decision was?" he asked.
I scoffed.
"So tell me, Hunter, when exactly is stopping you from letting that girl go back home and preventing a fight from happening? Are you willing to risk the lives of innocent people for that girl that doesn't even belong here? Aren't you just shamelessly trying to find an excuse not to send her back?" I questioned, hating the fact that he thought that he could take me for a fool.
It was more than obvious that he didn't want to send her back and that is why he's upset that I reported her in the first place.
"She doesn't belong here? And why's that? Are you forgetting she's my mate?" he asked and when he referred to her as his mate, my blood boiled.
"Now you even dare to call her your mate in front of me? You're telling me that she belongs here because she's your mate even after you told me several times that she wasn't going to stay here for too long because she did not belong with us? You're unbelievable, Hunter. I would have never thought that you would betray me in such a disgusting and shameless way and simply saying I'm disappointed in you, is an understatement," I voiced out, holding back my urge to cry.
"The feeling is mutual, Brenda. I went around defending you and telling everyone that I trusted that you wouldn't make any stupid decisions even though you had gone to see your mother. I've spent almost half of my life trying to make sure that nobody questions your honesty and how deserving you were to be by my side and instead of considering that, you still went ahead and did things however you pleased,"
"You knew how difficult it was to get people to accept you without trying to use your father's crimes against you and instead of understanding and acting accordingly, you still went ahead and did stupid and ridiculous things but even after finding out the things that you did, I always end up justifying your actions and defending you blindly," he rambled on and on and I rolled my eyes.
"So now all of that is suddenly a bad thing? You're trying to make it sound like I did horrible things in the past and you've just been putting up with me when I've barely done anything. I can understand why you're upset that I went to Helene's father but don't you dare bring up things that happened in the past just to justify your actions right now," I hissed.
"I'm not trying to justify my actions, you silly woman. I'm just trying to express that I'm equally disappointed that you keep acting selfishly instead of considering the situation around you. You always do things without caring how it affects anyone else and it's high time I stopped indulging your gutter behavior," he retorted and I could not believe him.
"So what now, Hunter? What do you intend on doing now that you're suddenly in the mood to call me out for my supposed gutter behavior?" I asked.
I was having a strong feeling about what he was going to eventually see but I was hoping with everything in me that my gut feeling wasn't right because I have no idea what I'm going to do if I hear him say those words.
"I told you that I didn't want to speak to you because I have things to think about and I need to sort out my feelings because I'm currently very furious with you and I don't see myself forgiving you any time soon and just so you know, I won't be sending Helene back to her father so you better get that into your thick skull," he replied.
"You do realize that there's a chance that a fight could break out between both packs if you don't let that girl go, right? Are you going to be selfish enough to keep her here at the detriment of your people's safety? Do you think this is the time for you to act selfishly?" I fired at him and he smirked.
"Helene is not a little girl and she has every right in the world to choose where to stay especially if she has a very solid reason to choose to stay here," he said and I was confused.
"Solid reason? What solid reason are you talking about?" I questioned.
"What other reason besides the fact that she's my mate? He can't possibly force her to abandon her mate, can he?" he answered and my heart fell to the pit of my stomach.
"You can't be serious, Hunter. You just can't be serious. Are you joking with me? How can you claim her as your mate when you already have me as your fiance? How do you think that is going to make me look?" I asked, genuinely hoping that he was just trying to get back at me by teasing me because this rubbish he just said made no sense at all.
"And why exactly should I care about how it's going to make you look? You're the one who's stupidly decided to take things too far so just accept whatever you get from this," he responded and my fury heightened.
"Listen to me Hunter, if you dare put it out there that she's your mate, while publicly kicking me to the curb and embarrassing me, then you can consider all the years we spent together as non-existent. If you go through with that plan, you're going to lose me forever and I mean it," I threatened with the hopes that he'd still love me enough not to want to lose me.
He sighed. "I hate to say this, Brenda, but suit yourself. Breaking up with you was also part of the plan anyway," he replied and his words hit me like a strong wave.
"Y…you were going to break up with me?" I asked quietly, hoping I heard wrong.
"What? Are you shocked? Didn't you just say you'd break up with me?" he asked in a tone that almost felt like he was mocking me.
"Y…you can't be serious, Hunter. How can you do this to me? W…what did I do to deserve this from you?" I stuttered, finally letting the tears fall out.
"You should have known when to stop, Brenda. If you did, we wouldn't be here and now, I'm so sick of you to the point where I don't even want to see you, and don't think your tears are going to convince me otherworldly cause I'm done being a fool and letting you get away with your nonsense. See yourself out," he responded, attempting to turn away from me but I quickly held him back.
"You can't do this to me, Hunter. You know you're all I have. I've spent half my life with you and no one else, so you can't just abandon me like this. It's not fair. Please, don't do this to me," I begged as tears continuously rolled down my cheeks.
"I need to rest, Brenda. This conversation is over," he responded, pulling away from my grip and leaving me in my pool of tears without for once turning back to look at me.
