Chapter 109

Hunter.

After a tiring day of dealing with people, I finally got time to myself so I decided to rest for a short while before going to see Helene so that she doesn't think I'd forgotten about her and also because I desperately want her to see her.

The only reason I didn't rush to her was because I didn't want her to sense my emotions and realize that I was upset. After all, she would ask me questions and I just wasn't ready to explain things to her yet until I was able to sort out myself emotionally and just get myself together overall.

I was already halfway into my sleep when I heard someone knocking heavily on my door and I couldn't help but wonder who it was and why they were knocking so persistently. The only people who could dare to knock so persistently were either Damon, Aurora, or Brenda, and at the moment, I wasn't interested in having any sort of conversation with any of them because I was still too tired to deal with the problem that any of them would bring to me.

I reluctantly got up from my bed and dragged myself to the door and when I finally opened the door for whoever it was that was knocking so crazily, I was not too surprised when I saw that it was Brenda, who looked like she was itching to punch me in the face.

"What do you want, Brenda?" I asked, not bothering to hide the fact that I was not very pleased to see her.

I was still very upset with her about the fact that she dared to do such a thing behind my back and I just couldn't see myself forgiving her anytime soon.

"Really Hunter? Did you just dare to ask me what I want? Have we gotten to the point where I can't come here to see you without you giving me that look that you don't want me here?" she asked and I rolled my eyes before turning away from the door, walking to the sofa and falling on it tiredly.

"Listen, Brenda, the last thing that I want right now is to get into any sort of argument with you so if you know that's why you came here today, just do me a favor and leave as soon as possible because I'm not in the mood to deal with you and your tantrums right now," I told her and her face fell.

"I can't believe you, Hunter. You have changed so much in the last few weeks and I'm starting to wonder if you've always been like this but I was too foolish to realize it. I came all the way here to ask you for an explanation for the rubbish that I saw earlier and I'm not going to leave here until you explain to me what you were doing with that bitch in the cottage house," she demanded, raising her voice to the max.

I was surprised that she knew that I was with Helene in the cottage but I didn't care to explain myself to her because as far as I was concerned, it wasn't any of her business and I just wasn't in the mood to even speak to her.

"First things first, I'm going to have to ask you to mind your language because you have no right to refer to anyone as a bitch and if you think that raising your voice is going to get me to respond to you, you're wrong. If you don't keep your voice down and speak like a normal person, I won't hesitate to have you dragged out of here," I told her clearly and the horror on her face could not be missed.

"D…did you just threaten that you have me dragged out of your place, Hunter? Are you now so shameless that you're willing to publicly discard me even after all these years of us being together? What in the world is wrong with you, Hunter? What got over you and made you this way? Have you finally lost your mind or are you now so engrossed in cheating on me with that whore you call your mate, that you no longer have any regard for me?" she questioned and her constant use of those dirty words was getting on my nerves.

"Let me warn you for the last time, Brenda, if you utter any more degrading words about Helene, I will forget that you and I are anything to each other and you will not like what I'll do to you," I threatened.

She scoffed. "What are you going to do to me, Hunter? What more can you do to me besides what you're already doing? So you're not willing to throw everything that we shared all these years away just because of your fling with that no-good somebody? Does everything we've shared not mean anything to you anymore?" she questioned and I sighed.

"If you came all the way here to reminisce about our relationship, do me a favor and come back some other time because right now, I need to get some rest and clear my head and you're the last person that I want to see or speak to," I replied to her.

"Well, I don't care if you don't want to speak to me but you better give me an explanation for what I saw yesterday and don't you dare think that you can lie to me," she demanded.

"And what exactly did you see yesterday, Brenda?" I asked.

"I saw you taking that girl into the cottage, spending over half an hour in there and I know you cheated on me with her while you were inside," she answered.

"If you already know all of this, then what else do you want me to explain to you? Were you expecting to come here, rant about it, and then see me try to make excuses and deny that nothing happened between her and me? Well, news flash sweetie, something did happen but sadly for you, I don't feel the need to explain myself to you, at least, not at the moment," I told her and her face looked like it would explode any second from now.

"I'm confronting you about the fact that you cheated on me and instead of giving me an explanation or at least trying to make an excuse for yourself, you're choosing to tell me to my face that it happened but then you don't want to talk about it? Does that even make any sense to you, Hunter? If you were in my shoes, would you appreciate it if I reacted the way you're reacting right now?" she asked.

I sighed.

"I mentioned earlier that I was not in the mood to talk but you kept going on and on so what you see is what you get Brenda. If you know that you don't appreciate the way I'm speaking to you right now, leave and maybe come back when I'm ready to speak to you more civilly," I said.

"The more you say this nonsense, the more upset I get, Hunter. How can you not show any sign of remorse at all? You're the one that cheated on me and you're the one that owes me an explanation but instead, you're acting like I'm the one in the wrong and that nonchalant attitude of yours is pissing me off right now!" she yelled and I was slightly startled by how loud her voice was.

"I know exactly what you're expecting from me but you're not going to get it, Brenda. I don't care that you think I'm the one in the wrong and I also don't care if you feel that I'm being nonchalant towards you. If you cannot stand the way I'm acting right now, feel free to take your leave and just leave me alone. I clearly said that I'm not ready to speak to you so just accept that and get out," I replied, slowly getting frustrated with this back-and-forth we were having.

I was trying to send her out because I didn't want to bring up the fact that I knew what she did just yet simply because I've still not come to terms with it. I knew that saying something was only going to make me even more upset and I didn't want to do anything that I would end up regretting in a moment of anger.

"Do you have a problem with me, Hunter? Is that something concerning me that is bothering you and making you act like this?" she asked.

"What if there is?" I replied.

"If you have a problem with me, why not talk about it like a normal person would instead of acting like a stupid bitch and being so disrespectful? I have a problem with what you did and that is why I'm here to table things out instead of being a coward and avoiding it. So, if you have something to say, say it already!" she hissed and that was honestly it for me.

"You know Brenda, out of a little respect that I still had left for you, I tried my best to control my anger and keep myself from saying what I had in mind because I didn't want my anger to take over completely but you just had to keep yelling and yelling like a crazy dog,"

"Since you want to know what problem I have with you then so be it. I happen to find out that you had the effrontery, the gull, the audacity, the guts to leave every southern pack behind and walk straight into the northern pack, Blue Moon, to be precise, and you dared to report Helene's location to her father, simply out of your maddening jealousy. Am I right or am I right?" I questioned, finally bringing it up since she so desperately wanted to hear the truth.
