I will wage a war against you

I will wage a war against you
SERENA’S POV

Tears kept rolling down my cheeks and as much as Aria didn’t want for that to happen, I couldn’t stop it.

I found it hard to sleep all through the night and all I did was roll from one edge of the bed to the other and not just are my eyes heavy, my heart is also heavy.

Sulking wasn’t the best thing to do at the moment, I was fully aware, I needed to get my brother out of prison before taking all the time in the world to sulk.

“I need you to wipe your tears” Aria mentioned, doing that was of no use as tears would keep rolling down my cheeks.

“To get Dean out, you might have to work with Alpha Basil and not Alpha Bernard any longer” She went on.

“How did you move on so fast?” Curiosity made me ask her,

“I haven’t moved on, it’s just that I’m too…” She stopped speaking abruptly and I was guessing she ran out of words.

“Look, Shaun isn’t your mate but your fated mate so this was bound to happen” She went on after a while.

Aria was no longer the Aria I used to know but I couldn’t blame her, I wiped my tears with the back of my palm and stood to my feet afterward.

I had plans to still head to Shaun’s pack after I got my brother out of prison, I would need him to tell all that he wrote in the letter to my face.

It was his handwriting or I would have sworn he didn’t write the letter, I sauntered out of the room they call mine and was on my way to see Alpha Basil.

After I read the letter Shaun sent to me two days ago, the thought of heading to his pack immediately crossed my mind but Aria made me understand that it wasn’t a good idea.

“If you leave Alpha Bernard might release a statement and claim that Dean wrote it just like he discussed with you” Her words to me, it was why I had a change of mind.

I need to be here with Dean or he might take the fall for Willow, I still want to believe that Shaun didn’t mean all that he wrote in that letter of his.

“Why won’t he want me anymore?” I mumbled while descending the stairs, both of my hands were on the railings.

“The mate mark, he must be pissed that you no longer bear it” Aria replied, she seemed to have all of this figured out already.

“But I wrote a letter to him briefing him about what happened and the letter he sent me on the day I wanted to return to him, he said nothing of such” I lamented,

Vividly, I could remember the content of the letter Dean brought to me while I was on my way out of the pack, he didn’t write like he was mad at me.

“Get Dean out of prison first and we’ll think of what to do about this” Aria howled, that was all she had been telling me from the moment I read the letter.

Alpha Basil wasn’t in the dining area which meant he would be in the penthouse reading the newspaper or sipping wine, those were his favorite things to do.

I rubbed my fingers against my eyes because I didn’t want it to be obvious to him that I had been crying as that might depict weakness to him.

“You haven’t had something to eat today” Aria reminded me,

“I know” I cooed, food was the last thing on my mind right now.

I stepped into the compound and had my eyes in the direction of the penthouse, I sighted Alpha Basil from afar but I wasn’t sure he was alone.

Having conversations with him was becoming rampant and I hoped that I wasn’t passing the wrong information to him, Aria knew what I meant by that.

The thought of Shaun was still on my mind and it was hard to put it aside for just a second, I couldn’t help thinking what would be my fate if he meant those words of his.

“What does he mean by he’s not the one for me?” I inquired from Aria, she seems to have answers to every of my questions.

“He probably found the one for him the moment you left the pack” She replied but I refused to believe that.

Shaun’s heart beats for only me and I wasn’t even being delusional, the reason he doesn’t want us any longer can’t be because of that, it has to be something else!

“Maybe he thinks I’m still in love with my mates” I muttered, I didn’t need Aria to respond to this.

Somebody must be feeding him with lies about me and who the person could be, I couldn’t comprehend or maybe I’m wrong.

“Isn’t he supposed to trust you even if that’s the case?” Aria contributed, but I didn’t have a response for her.

I walked into the penthouse and deep Inside me, I knew this would be the last time I would be coming to engage Alpha Basil in a conversation.

If he isn’t willing to help me out, I would do things on my own and get my brother out of prison even though it would be hard.

“Can I speak to you for a moment?” I looked at his face and asked,

“Sure” he reluctantly responded.

Like I guessed, he was here reading a newspaper and it was a good thing that Alpha Bernard wasn’t here with him or I wouldn’t be able to do this.

I sat not too close to him and not too far away, he had his gaze fixated on me and I was glad I had his attention.

“In exchange for my brother’s release, what do you want?” I put it to him, it was of no use beating around the bush.

It’s been more than a minute since I asked him a question and he still hadn’t provided me a response, he could be thinking of the perfect request to make.

I wasn’t running out of time so I won’t urge him to give me a response right away, I just hope that I will be able to grant the request he will make.

“Shaun, here I come” I muttered.

“Investigation is ongoing” he eventually broke the silence and I was waiting for the part where he’d make his request known to me.

“Wait, is that his way of telling me that he wants nothing from me?” I asked Aria after it occurred to me, he was refusing to make another statement.

“I think so” She replied, it took her more than a minute to.

My cupped hand landed on my mouth, I wanted to be out of the pack as soon as possible and it was why I was here to discuss with him.

“You look like you’ve been crying by the way” he muttered, I must have done a terrible job wiping my tears.

“Can I at least have a word with my brother?” I requested since he has no request to make.

“Not yet” he frankly responded.

I remained seated while I thought about what next to do, the thought of threatening him popped into my mind but I wasn’t sure how I felt about it.

He must be wondering why I’ve been crying it has to be the reason he won’t stop staring at me in a manner that I couldn’t comprehend.

“Let my brother go or I’ll do something I’ll regret” I managed to speak in a calm manner, I had suddenly begun to boil with fury.

“I wish I could but…”

“This is what you and your twin want to pay me with after helping you fight your battles!” I chimed.

“I need you to be logical, the…”

“It is you who isn’t logical here!” I raised my voice at him, he had pushed me to the wall and he had to face the consequences.

“You might want to calm down” Aria howled,

“I thought that you were for me but now I know you are against me” I replied to her.

“I’ll wage war against the pack and I’m sure you know that you and your men don’t stand a chance against my wolf!” I went on, I didn’t know if I was doing the rigid thing but I knew I had lost my mind.

I had gotten clueless and my eyes were teary, sometimes I shed tears when I’m really pissed, my chin was up and it was a way of sending the tears in my eyes back to wherever they came from.

Alpha Basil didn’t seem moved by my words and that was worrisome, the execution is in two days from now and if they don’t get evidence, Dean would also be executed alongside Willow!
