Chapter 39 Thirty nine

Chapter 39 Thirty nine
Laura's POV.
I kept staring at his wound and I couldn't help but frown.
I was told the war was successful and there was no injury, so I didn't understand why I saw him clutching his ribs, I wasn't a healer, and the healer were drained so I heard, this made me feel invalid, I didn't know what to do for him, what will make it better, I kept looking at him, he smiled when he saw me and winced when I mistakenly applied pressure on his arms.
"Are you okay?" I asked and he nodded.
We reached the room and I turned around realizing that the blood was everywhere, his wound was getting worse than I could imagine.
"What happened?" I asked Dean and he sighed looking down.
"The war was successful so we thought my uncle killed the witch we thought of as the threat. We didn't expect to see a new witch, it was surprising." He sighed sitting down close to me and Darren.
"And before we realized it, she planned the attack, and from what we're seeing, it seems she has another vendetta, because the witch my uncle killed has been known to torment us for years, and this witch we saw is totally different and new." Dean sighed.
"Wow this is a lot." I said and he nodded.
"We've faced a lot and Uncle got hurt while shielding me, it makes me think that I shouldn't have gone with them." He sighed.
"Hey the witch took you all by surprise okay." I said and he nodded.
"So keep it cool, don't worry too much." I said and she smiled.
"Yeah, I'll try not to worry, I'll go see if any of the healers have gotten their energy back." Dean said, rushing out of the room.
"Where is the first aid box?" I asked and Darren sighed pointing to a cabinet.
I opened the cabinet and I took it out. I had to do something before the healers got here, it felt like he would die in my hands if I didn't do anything.
"What did she use?" I asked, his wound looked so big.
"Wolfsbane." He said and I gasped.
"Damn, that must hurt a lot." I said and he nodded.
"And you held it in to defend me." I said and he smiled.
"I'll do anything for you, that should be common knowledge." He gasped as I cleaned his wound.
"Thank you." I said.
"I know I should've said something, I did but I'm happy that you defended me." I said wrapping the bandage on him.
"You shouldn't bother with this, the healers or at least one of them will be here soon." He said.
"How many did they heal?" I asked.
"At first it was ten, we were all going home, and the witch suddenly attacked." He coughed up blood and gasped running to his side.
"See you're not fine." I sighed rubbing my temple, he was making me worry more than I should.
"Let me go call them myself." I said and he shook his head.
"Don't worry, if you leave, it'll be more painful." He said.
"It'll be more painful?" I asked in confusion.
"Yes, with you here with me, I can actually bear the pain." He said and I smiled.
"Oh you, you need to stop it." I said and he laughed, still coughing.
"But I can't sit still and watch you hurt, what if it gets worse, will I just be sitting?" I asked and he sighed, shaking his head.
"But I want you here with me." He pouted.
"And I'll be here, I just want to go call the healer and I don't know why Dean is taking too much time." I said.
"Let me call Dean." He said.
"I'm mind-speaking with him." He said and I nodded.
"Okay, I'll be waiting." I said.
"He's not answering, that's weird." He said and I stood up.
"See, I have to go, he rushed out and something must have kept him from coming." I said.
"Let me talk to Karl." He argued and I sat down waiting for him to talk. I hope he gets the chance to speak to Karl.
"Have you spoken to him?" I asked.
"Yes I have, but it's the same thing." He frowned and I sighed.
"I feel like they are listening but something is stopping them." He added.
"I'll go myself." I said and he sighed, I made him lay down well.
"It might be the elders keeping them." He said.
"From what that elder did this evening, I was surprised, it's one of them." I agreed.
"Do you know where to find the healers?" He asked and I shook my head.
"Just go to the kitchen and ask the cook." He said.
"And she'll show you where to find them." He said and I ran out immediately.
I rushed out looking for the cook, I couldn't see where she was and I heard voices outside, it felt like everyone was there.
I wondered why everyone gathered and which elder was doing something dramatic, as it seemed they were all dramatic. Walking closer to them, I paused when I saw Dean's back and I noticed Karl there too.
Darren was right, something serious may have been occupying them. I thought it was one of the elders as I saw the one who attacked me earlier, but I saw other elders too,the way they stood made me guess they were elders.
I pushed through, trying to see what they were all staring at and why they kept arguing, it seemed the elders had an opinion and Dean and Karl didn't agree with it.
They kept talking and Dean was glaring hard at them, as I came closer I finally heard them.
"That's a nonsense assumption." Dean said.
"Well, the evidence is here." The elder said.
I gasped as I finally reached the middle and saw what they were all looking at, I saw three werewolves dead.
And I saw my name written on their foreheads.
"There she is, the one who did this." The elder who attacked me earlier spat.
