Established Connection
ALANA
The day of the second test arrived but I still don’t know how to shapeshift into my wolf.
I don’t how I am going by with the reproductive tests now but I am still coming because William believed in me. Somehow, I felt like I would still find a way to do it.
The venue is in the woods. Francine and Lucas are with me while Sophia and Georgia’s maids were with them as we looked on at the queen luna surrounded by werewolf guards already in their wolf selves.
Francine also told me that the whole forests are being roamed by guards to ensure our safety as there are probably rogue wolves lurking around ready to strike us.
There are tents and tables set up for the doctors that would examine our blood.
“The test today would be the simplest out of the tests that I am planning to conduct. It is to know who’s the most likely to be the most productive out of the three of you to easily give my son, the alpha prince, sons and daughters.”
The queen luna looked up at the full moon above us and opened her arms. “By the light coming from our moon goddess, we will judge your fertility based on how fast you transform into your wolf, the color of your fur, and how quick you will move through the trees to reach the finish line.”
I took a long and deep sigh as I glanced at the other two women I am with. The simplest test is actually the hardest because up until now, I have not had a talk with my wolf so I don’t know if I can even be able to transform into her now. I just know its name Malaika but I actually don’t have that much interaction with her aside from letting me her urge to come out from time to time but that urge remained just an urge because I never had the chance to successfully manifest in her form.
Francine held my face and looked at me with determination. “Remember what I told you. Concentrate. Listen to your heartbeat and connect it with William. Count the number of his heartbeat and attune your heartbeat with it and then you will definitely transform. Do you understand me, Alana?”
I nodded firmly. “Yes, Francine. That’s what I am going to do.”
“I ask you again to trust me, Alana,” I recalled William telling me last night. “Will you trust me again?”
“Of course, William. I trust you,” I whispered and closed my eyes to calm my nerves.
“If you can’t transform into your wolf because of William, then you can always look at me and I will willingly help you, Alana.”
I immediately opened my eyes to see Lucas standing too close to me. “Let’s show everybody today who you are really meant to.”
I just clenched my hands and glared at him without saying anything before walking up to the front of the queen luna to prepare myself to transform, the only thing I am holding on right now is William’s words.
He asked me to trust him. I did and so am I going to shift now.
“Whoever is going to reach the finish line with her transformed wolf would be the winner of the test,” the queen luna announced. “Now the test will start in three, two, one!”
A gun was fired and the two women easily transformed into their wolves and left me with their dusts behind their tails.
Everyone was silent while looking at me while I was trying my very hardest to concentrate.
Murmurings filled the entire forest as the queen luna looked at me with curiosity.
“What is she looking at when all the other wolves have already sprinted away from her?”
“She would definitely lose this test. Madam Sophia and Madam Georgia are already kilometers away from her!”
“Someone like her who can’t even shift into her wolf does not deserve to be the alpha prince’s mate and the future queen luna of the state!”
“Why can’t she transform? Did she even have a wolf at all?”
“The queen luna is a genius for coming up with this test because we get to realize who’s deserving and not.”
I bit my lip as tears began to fill my eyes. I cannot concentrate and I cannot feel William anymore.
Suddenly, Lucas came forward and caught my eyes and our connection was suddenly established.
“N-No…” I whispered, shaking my head when I felt my wolf waking up and wanting to come out.
I can’t transform in front of him! I am not going to be mated with him!
I turned my back wanting to run away from here but my wolf stopped me.
My claws suddenly shot out of my hands and I felt a little queasy inside me.
I fell to the ground hugging myself when I felt my bones creaking and something was spurting out from me while my consciousness was connected with Lucas.
“Where is William?” I panicked when I felt like I cannot really control my wolf anymore. It really wants to come out and I would never let it out in front of Lucas.
I locked eyes with Francine who’s worried about me.
“Where is William?!” I asked again but I couldn't even hear my own voice anymore when a force swept me off my current suffering.
I heard a howl coming from William and I instantly connected to it. One, two, three successive howls… fast-paced, slowed down.
Wait… that is definitely the rhythm of his heartbeat when I drank that potion. That means I can attune to his heartbeat now.
I looked around and the others seemed to not notice it. Am I the only one who is able to hear him now?
I stood up with shaking legs and closed my eyes concentrating only with the sound of his howls.
One… two… three…
I opened my eyes and the crowd gasped in awe as I successfully let Malaika out for everyone to see.
“Woah!” they all exclaimed. “She’s very beautiful!”
“It’s the first time I saw a red wolf like this!”
Without wasting any more time, I run at the speed of the wind to where William is feeling the best thing ever.
Is this what they call freedom? Is this what being a true werewolf is?
I stopped in front of the cliff where I saw a lone white wolf.
William…
But when I saw his true form, my wolf instantly weakened and I shifted back into my human-form with blood coming out of my eyes.
“Alana!”
