Chapter 276 156| Alpha Aldric Valek.
 AXEL

It was hard to believe that Violet was willing to follow me to the North after what had happened the last time she was there. I understood how difficult everything was for her, and I didn’t plan to force her into anything.

“Violet. You don’t have to. There’s no rush. We could just take everything slo—”

“I need to see Daisy before she leaves,” she interjected, and my mouth formed an ‘O.’

“Did you think I wanted to follow you just because I could be with you?” she lifted her brow, a mocking smile on her lips.

I scratched the back of my neck. “Maybe. My bad.”

She climbed off the bed and wrapped her arms around my neck, her eyes fixed on me. “And perhaps, if you would let me, I could spend some time with you before I return here.”

“Are you sure?” I asked skeptically, and she nodded.

“Yes.”

The happiness that ripped through my chest was immeasurable, and a wide grin spread across my face. I had missed her so much, and I wouldn’t mind having her by my side.

The ride back to the North was filled with kisses, the both of us all over each other, that we even almost had an accident. The reunion was so great and we blended so well that it didn’t feel as if we had been apart for months.

When we got to the pack, Daisy was already preparing for departure. The convoy of cars that were to take her to the West was in place, and the entire family was saying their goodbyes.

My eyes landed on the man whose arm clung tightly around Daisy’s waist. He had a towering figure with broad shoulders, jet-black hair and green eyes . It still felt unbelievable that little Daisy had found her mate and was leaving with him.

The second Violet and I got out of the car, they all flicked their attention to us, shock saturating their faces.

“Why are you all staring as if you had seen a ghost?” I raised a brow as we approached them.

The frown on my father’s face was palpable.

Daisy quickly closed the distance between us, spreading her arms open and embracing Violet tightly.

“Finally,” Daisy breathed as she pulled away from the hug and cupped Violet’s face in her palm. “How are you?”

“I am fine. And congratulations. You finally got the type of love you have been waiting for. You deserve it and every good this life has to offer,” Violet said with a smile.

I noticed her mate approaching us, and I flicked my gaze at him. “I’ll need a proper introduction.”

“The most powerful Alpha,” he stared at me with a look I couldn’t quite place before extending his hand for a handshake. “I am Alpha Aldric Valek of the Bloodfang Pack in the West. Nice to meet you.”

My face turned serious, tightening my grip around his hand. “And what are your intentions with my cousin?”

His brows furrowed. “What do you mean, Alpha? What other intention do I have except loving her crazily?”

“Good.” I released his hand, then turned my attention to Daisy, wrapping my arms around her.

“I hate to admit this, but I am so going to miss you,” I breathed.

“On a normal day, I would’ve teased and said I wouldn’t miss you. But... today...” she sobbed. “I cannot deny that I will miss you too, Axel.”

Pulling away from the hug, I used my thumb to wipe the lone tear rolling down her cheek. “I love you so very much. Always remember that.”

“I love you too.”

“Okay. I think that’s enough.” Alpha Aldric grabbed her arm and possessively pulled her towards him, wrapping his arm around her to ascertain dominance.

Daisy giggled and pressed her palm to his chest. She seemed happy.

The deep jealousy in his eyes assured me that he wasn’t going to let her suffer.

A pang of pain remained in my chest as I watched him take my only cousin to the car and drive out of the territory. The one with whom I had spent almost all my life with and had never been apart from for long. But that reality had changed now, and I had always known that this day would come. As much as I dreaded letting her go, I was happy that she finally found her happiness.

“Axel!” My father’s voice boomed, and I flicked my gaze at him.

“Meet me in my office now!” he demanded before bolting away.

I sucked in a sharp breath, then turned to look at Violet. “I’ll be right back, baby. You can spend time with Indie and Mason while I am away.”

She nodded in response, fear in her eyes.

“Nothing is going to happen,” I assured her before going to meet my father in his office.

He was pacing around the office when I walked in but stopped and turned to look at me, a hard frown on his face. “You dared bring her here, into my pack!”

“Your enemy was Silas, father, and you have eliminated him. I see no reason why I cannot be with her anymore!” I groaned in response, refusing to be intimidated by him. I still respected him as my father and the Alpha King, but when it came to Violet, I would do anything to keep her by my side.

“Do you think she is just going to forget everything that happened? I killed her father, so you are basically an enemy to her. What if she decides to take revenge?” he challenged.

“I understand that getting past the fact that you were the one who killed her father would be difficult. But we have decided to try, knowing that we couldn’t do without each other.” I stepped closer to him, looking at him pleadingly. “Father, please do not let me go against you because I can never leave Violet. I would elope with her if push comes to shove.”

He exhaled sharply and swiped his hand across his face as he turned his back to me. “I know that. And that is why I will accept her. But I am just worried. Just like Nina, whose father was killed before her eyes, the sight of that bred a dangerous hate within her and—”

“Violet is nothing like Nina!” I interjected.

It was clear that revenge wasn’t Nina’s only motive. She wanted unfathomable power, and that was what led her to her death. Violet was nothing like her. She was kind and had a pure heart.

He abruptly turned to look at me, his eyes narrowing. “She’s also the heir to the Southern throne. How do you plan to manage it? Quite alright, her mother is the acting Alpha now, pending when she’s ready to ascend the throne. But surely, she’ll hand over to her someday. So, how do you plan to balance it?”

“We’ll figure it out. There’s no reason to rush in making a decision yet. I still have a long time ahead of me before I become the Alpha King anyway.”

He shook his head. “No, that’s wrong.”

“What do you mean?” I asked, confused.

“I have ruled long enough, Axel. I’m retiring soon. It’s high time you ascended the throne,” he announced, shocking me to the bone.
